About this property
Cosy & comfortable cottage in private garden with panoramic sea views
The Old Stable is a charming cottage set back from the road with a private mature garden and a fantastic panoramic view of Lough Foyle, the North Coast and the Atlantic Ocean. This is an ideal holiday retreat for individuals, couples or a small family who value privacy and tranquility.
The original house is over 100 years old and beautifully renovated. The traditional charm is preserved and modern conveniences added for comfort, includes central heating, open plan livingroom, a modern kitchen, one spacious ensuite bedroom, bathroom (two in total) and a wood burning stove.
The garden is very peaceful and private, enjoy a barbecue or just take a seat outside and enjoy the magnificent view. Relax watching the boats going by or while listening to the sound of the small steam and the birds.
This is a great tour base for exploring the beautiful Inishowen Peninsula. Approximate 15 min walk / 2 min drive takes you to the Blue Flag Sweet Nelli's Beach and Inish Lighthouse, where you will find a beautiful sandy beach, a car park, as well as toilet facilities and life guards during summer months.
The seaside villages of Greencastle and Moville offer nice cafes, restaurants and genuine Irish pubs, live music and summer festivals. Also a friendly local pub is a 5 min walk away from the cottage (opens occascionally),
Greencastle Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole links course, visible from the house and only a 5 minute drive away. From the house you can join the stunning Inishowen Head loop walk (8km, moderate hike) or from Greencastle join a beautiful shore walk to Moville (2km, easy walk). Moville also offers sea kayaking, canoeing and adventure activities.
In the summer you can use the car ferry services to takes you from Greencastle to the scenic coast of Northern Ireland, Giant Causeway and The Bushmills Distillery are approximately 1.5 hour car journey. The Historic City of Derry is approximate 30 minute drive away.
There is plenty of space for parking around the house and seats are availble in the garden for you to enjoy the peacful views.
