Beautifully appointed 2 bed/2 bath barn conversion with exposed beams and French doors opening on to scenic country views of fields and woodland. Ground floor is wheelchair friendly. Enjoy a barbecue on the terrace, relax in the jacuzzi (from May to end September) or feel yourself unwind as you listen to the stream or watch the cows grazing in the fields. Enjoy walking, cycling, fishing, horse riding, tennis, golf, touring the many towns and markets in the area or enjoy the amenities of the many lakes - beaches, kyaking, pedaloes, sunbathing, picnicking, boat trips or a game of petanque before lunch. Lake Viam, Lake Bariousses, Lake Vassiviere all close by. Bugeat with train station, Carrefour Express, butcher, baker, pharmacy, bank, hairdresser is 6 km away. Scenic town of Treignac 17 km, Eymoutiers 20 km. Limoges and Brive 1 hour. Tulle/Ussel hospitals 50 minutes. Day trips to scenic Argentat, Collange -la-Rouge, historic Oradour-sur-Glane. Winter skiing at Besse and Mont D'or... or just sit by the woodburner and play bridge! Something for everyone.

Secluded but so very comfortable, the barn catered perfectly for our travelling party of four. Deborah has paid attention to detail in making her guests welcome. The cosy fire for the cold rainy afternoons after returning from exploring the beautiful Limousin was an added bonus.

Superb Barn.

We were not disappointed, the barn was superb, the photos do not do it justice. Deborah is an excellent host, very considerate and friendly and will go the extra mile to make your stay a success. Gourdon-Murat is a good location to explore the area and get a good idea of rural french life.

High end property in quiet landscape area

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quiet but beautiful area. The property is of a very high standard, heated floors , high end bathrooms, beautiful deck. In the area we specifically enjoyed: - the beach at Lac des Bariousses; - the randonnées (maps provided) particularly the very interesting gallo-Roman ruins at “Les Mazières”; - the town of Uzerche, very pretty - Chateau de Val, on the beach of the reservoir with an interesting exhibit showing the villages before the dam was built; - dinner at L’Auberge du Sauvage , Rempnat, they always have vegetarian plat available which is excellent; Also the WiFi is fast and there is both French, British TV and Netflix available. Also Deborah is a very generous and friendly host who is very attentive to any little thing that needs to be addressed. Thanks Deborah! Gareth and Fiona, stayed 2 weeks August 2020

Exceptional welcome in wonderful location and supreme comfort

We visited in August 2019. We have been staying in similar accommodation every year in France for 10-20 years and this was our most enjoyable yet. Deborah ensured we had a very warm welcome with every possible need catered for. We certainly felt at home and did not feel like just the next group to stay. The location was quiet and peaceful, despite being on the D32 road, we found the traffic to be very light, with a mix of cyclists, tractors and local inhabitants. We would sit on the patio for meals, to the side of the property and either observe the handsome bovine neighbours in the field adjacent or exchange a wave with a passing local cyclist or driver. We enjoyed the 5-10 minute walk to the village tennis court. It was almost always vacant and we played most days. The surface was somewhat short of that at Roland-Garros (we imagine), having a few idiosyncratic bounces and troughs but it was perfectly suitable for social mixed doubles. Deborah had provided mountain bikes and we greatly enjoyed using these to explore the hilly tracks and roads. We cycled to Bugeat and Lake Viam and the cascades at Pradines, and to a very typical rural lunch stop at Lestards. By car, we were most impressed with the quiet roads for visiting Treignac, Lake Bariousses and Eymoutiers and we had a lovely visit by train for a day in Limoges. We also walked along the quiet rural tracks and through the woods at the back of the accommodation. Evening meals were taken either in one of the many restaurants within a 30 minute drive, or sitting on the patio beside the barbecue watching the dippers catching insects near the brook, the jays and raptors flying between the woods or the bats performing their acrobatic displays overhead. We bought supplies from the supermarkets in Bugeat, Treignac and Eymoutiers and enjoyed an evening of live guitar music in Bugeat. All in all, we found the accommodation, the location and the warmth of the welcome to be of a high level, the like of which we have rarely experienced.

Une jolie grange et une région à découvrir

Très belles vacances dans La Grange Fleurie. Nous étions proches de lacs, de villages à découvrir, de belles balades à faire…le coucher de soleil sur la terrasse était superbe. Merci Déborah pour l’acceptation de nos deux « loulous » Paloma et Théo nos deux British Shorthair qui ont eux aussi beaucoup apprécié le lieu…avec les fortes chaleurs, il manquait peut être un climatiseur ou un autre ventilateur mais nos amis en ont apporté un…nous n’avons pas testé le jacuzzi car il faisait trop chaud et nous préférions les lacs proches…peut être une prochaine fois…

Tout à fait conforme à l'annonce, les surprises que nous avons eu n'ont réellement été que de bonnes surprises ! Hôte très accueillante, panier de bienvenue largement fourni et tout est là pour passer un très bon séjour dès la première soirée. La maison est parfaitement équipée, tout est fonctionnel. Propreté 100% irréprochable ! En plus, une région accueillante largement à la hauteur de nos espérances. Nous recommandons largement cette résidence !

An inveterate globetrotter, she moved to Gourdon-Murat from Mallorca in 2017 having been seduced by the Limousin scenery and warmth of the people. She has spent the past 18 months working with French artisans to lovingly convert the barn into a high-end « gîte » ... while she “camped” in the farmhouse next door!
