This is our second year staying at this home and we are in love. It is perfect for a large group or multiple families. It has plenty of areas to hang out together or separate. Location is perfect if you love all things Mid Cape!
We have traveled to the cape every year since 2008. This property had everything we needed and is centrally located. The layout of the house is perfect for multiple friends and family. Beds were comfortable. Bring linens and towels. Host was very responsive and helpful. Great Getaway.
The home is beautiful, comfortable and roomy! The access to the rail trail bike path was a definite plus to our families needs. Great location, we loved Red River beach! Wish we could have stayed longer!
We all had a wonderful time. Our family have been coming to the Cape for years. This location was so perfect for us. Everywhere we wanted to go was just minutes away. Red River Beach was perfect and so close!!!!! We would highly recommend this property. The owner, Katie got back to me promptly.
We were very pleased with the location of this house. The front yard was a great place for the kids to play. The majority of the basic items needed to stay were there when we arrived (i.e., soaps, kitchen cleaning items, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher tabs, garbage bags, etc.). That was very much appreciated. Unfortunately it rained hard during one of the days and overnight and that water made its way into the garage, which made that space unusable after because of how wet the rug and sofa got. It also made that garage smell like mildew, so none of us wanted to go in there. The laundry facilities were very nice and updated. The kitchen was also well-stocked and updated. There was a small ant issue throughout the week. Not major but noticebale in places like the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. The back deck could use updating. It wasn't a place we wanted to sit. The living room was very cozy for reading and watching TV.
House was I a perfect location; easy to get to, quiet street, and close to both and of cape. Beds we're very comfortable and kitchen was well equipped and appliances were in fact brand new as advertised.
We stay on the cape every summer and this house was one of the best for our 8 person group. Plenty of space for the kids and adults to hang on their own and well stocked kitchen for the nights we are in. Excellent location!
The house was even nicer than the photos. Everything was in great shape, great communication with the owner, great location and we just loved it there. It was def particularly buggy in the backyard, but lots of beautiful trees, so probably expected. It was a hot week but the air conditioning in the house made everything very comfortable. Beds were very comfortable. Living room very comfortable with lovely furniture. Loved the outdoor shower. Great and comfortable week.
This was our second year staying here, and we couldn't be happier! we are already hoping to book for next year. The house is perfect for our large family and centrally located to everything we love to do in the Cape. Sheep pond, Wellfleet, Skaket beach, paine's creek are all worth a visit! Plus close to shopping and restaurants in Harwich Port and only about 10 min drive to Chatham. Kathryn was super responsive to all our questions and we love it here! Thank you!
We simply could not ask for a better week in cape cod. The property was perfect for me and my family, bedrooms were perfect sizes, there were toys for my kids, and the location was central to everything. My wife had morning runs along the rail trail that was accessible right down the end of the road, we had quick trips for groceries and for trips to red river beach. We can’t wait to book another week next year! Thank you so much!
The whale’s tale is a great property with plenty of room which held two families with no problem. Our kids really enjoyed the garage space that have been converted into a second family room. Our children loved sleeping in the massive bedroom holding four twin beds. Having an outdoor shower was fantastic with his many beach days as we enjoyed. Katie was very responsive to any messages sent!
Perfect mid-Cape location and very close to everything in the town of Harwich as well.
The master bedroom was wonderful with super comfortable bed. Kitchen well appropriated. Loved the deck and backyard spaces. Only improvement I suggest are to have working fans for the kitchen and main living room (several fans in the house but none of them worked). Even with windows open it got stifling hot a few days.
Other than that our stay was perfect for our family of 9 adults. I highly recommend the ‘whales tail’!
We had such an amazing stay at this property! Great location with a ton of space. Katie was very responsive to all of our questions. Overall we had a wonderful time.
The property is exactly as listed. Tons of space for everyone to spread out. Right off the Cape Cod Rail Trail for riding bikes, running or walking. Easy access to the highway to get to Hyannis or Provincetown. My children absolutely loved the outdoor shower and the backyard fire pit for roasting s’mores. GREAT communication with the owner Katie. Would absolutely recommend.
Very much enjoyed our stay at " The Whale's Tail. Accommodations were perfect for our large family. Very clean and welcoming. Liked that it was Mid-Cape so we could reach all the destinations we were interested in without long travel time.
My family of four rented the house for a week. We had a family of four spend half the week with us and there was plenty of room for all of us. The house was not ready on time, but that was understandably because of extra clean up needed following the tornadoes a few days prior. The house was located in a nice, quite dead end street. Katie was great with communication. The house was clean and comfortable. We have stayed at many different houses on the cape, and two things stuck out on this house. 1.It was very well stocked with sheets/towels/beach accessories/paper goods/cook equipment/ect. 2.It had cable TV, although cable TV is not the most important thing while on vacation on the Cape, it is really nice to be able to watch the Sox game at the end of the day. The fire pit was great for smores. The best part of the house might of been the proximity to the bike path. It was a short bike ride for my 7 and 9 year old to get to a park, playground, tennis courts, and breakfast. I would definitely recommend this house to a friend and hope to visit again.
We were in town for a baseball tournament but were late to find lodging. We stumbled across this location and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The house was clean and there was plenty of space to congregate and also find privacy. The location was absolutely ideal, couldn’t have designed a better spot. Katie was a fantastic host
This cozy home is exceptionally clean and perfect for our stay. It is exactly as advertised. Perfect location for exploring Harwich and all of the Central Cape. Great Stay and a Great Owner
The property was exactly as described. The home and bedrooms were large enough to sleep 8 adults comfortably. We enjoyed our stay and would rent again!
My name is Katie and I manage this property with my brother. I live 2 hours off Cape in Northborough, MA with my husband and 7-year old son. My brother, Matthew, lives locally.
Why they chose this property
This house has been in our family for over 40 years, since I was a little girl. My parents owned it jointly with my cousins family up until 2008 when my parents bought it outright and lived out their retirement. It is currently in a trust jointly owned by my brother, Matthew and I. We grew up summering there and have many, many great memories in this house. We are thrilled to be able to share it with others.
What makes this property unique
This house is uniquely suited to 2 families who would like to share a vacation. With a downstairs master king and upstairs queen and the large "kids" room upstairs. The street is a quiet dead end that doesn't get a lot of traffic. The front yard is large and flat and great for family games. The garage has been screened in and converted to a "porch" which provides a great, bug free, place to hang out on warm summer evenings.
