Staff was helpful and friendly but we had some issues with the unit. There were a lot of ants on the guest bed, luckily we were not sleeping there but they got into all our clothes and suitcases. The bathroom roof leaked so we had water on the tile floors which we had to climb down stairs to get into the bathroom so it was kind of scary that we would slide across the tile. It was cleaned well and we never bothered to say anything to staff about the issues. We were only staying 2 nights and figured it would be easier to take care of ourselves. There was also no hot water, which may be kind of common here since so many places use solar hot water heaters and they had no sun for several days. I'm not saying don't stay here, the price was good and there were fun crabs outside our window we could watch.

Raiatea visit
Raiatea was the first stop on a multi-island tour in Polynesia, and admittedly we chose to travel on the shoulder season as the rainy season gives way to the dry season. Accordingly, it was not surprising that we had a lot of rain, and that is not reflected in this review other than to say we spent a bit more time inside than we would have otherwise and we were able to use wifi and sleep well in total darkness with a little air conditioner. We also shopped at the market and used the kitchen daily, which met our needs. The bungalow is as presented on the website, though the pinpoint on the map was off and implied a closer location to town (though it should be noted that the description does note it's location at PK5.8, so we should have been attentive to that detail). You'll need a car or scooter to get into town, but it's worth it anyway since you'll want to drive the entire island. The owner and his son were accessible and very kind. Perhaps we'll be able to come back some day during a season with more sunshine!
