Welcome to The Coqui Shack! This beautifully decorated 2-bedroom, 2-bath home is the perfect locale for sightseeing the east side of The Big Island!

The Coqui Shack is centrally located in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision between the villages of Kea’au and Pahoa. The home is located only 20-30 minutes SE of Hilo, where you’ll find swimming and snorkeling at many beach parks in Hilo. Volcanoes National Park is only 45 minutes away.

The Coqui Shack, named after the chorus of frogs that will sing you to sleep at night, sits perfectly on its own private, landscaped acre. The huge grassy yard is perfect for those outdoor BBQs and provides lots of room for the kids to play. The Coqui Shack sleeps 4 comfortably with a queen-size bed in the master, and in the guest bedroom, and a full-size air mattress for extra guests. The master bedroom has its own private ensuite bath. There is a guest bathroom as well.

The hale includes all of the modern amenities that you would want in a vacation rental home, including cable TV & internet, washer/dryer.

Quiet, secluded rural house

We loved our stay at the Coqui shack. It was exactly like the listing said. The frogs & birds sang to us every night. No neighbor noises. Didn't need A/C. Everything worked great. Appliances, W/D, doors & windows. We loved being farther away from a town. but close enough to go to the grocery store and the VNP. We enjoyed feeding the birds & walking the neighborhood. We watched TV, played card games every evening, bbq's up some dinner, explored all the surrounding areas and became very familiar with this side of the island. It was great to not have to drive all the way over to the west side at the end of the day. Our only complaint was that for 2 senior couples, queen sized beds are harder to sleep in. Especially when we are both used to kings. But we knew about the beds when we reserved. Loved having two bathrooms. And we used the cooler, chairs, & umbrellas when we went out for the day. Thanks for providing just about everything we could think of. Thank you for all the homey, Hawaiian touches. It felt like we were staying in a friends home.

Perfect location.

The property is beautiful and well maintained. It exceeded all our expectations. Well stocked kitchen. We enjoyed the bird watching and the Couqi frogs added to the tropical ambience. We have recommended this VRBO to several of our friends.

Great home base for exploring the island

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Clean, comfortable stay for our week on the island. Enjoyed the nightly frog serenade from the lovely porch, as well as birds, giant snails, and geckos during the day. Close to Hilo and other east side attractions, and not too bad a drive to Volcanoes National Park, Kona, etc. Locally, we recommend brunch at Countryside Cafe (Kea’au), sunsets/sunrises at Maku’u Point, and making the somewhat treacherous hike to Ha’ena/Shipman Beach for swimming and sea turtles.
