About this property
Madeline Island Cottage Overlooking Apostle Islands
A private and quiet setting overlooking the Apostle Islands National Park. Relaxing getaway for two or plenty of space for a gathering of sixteen.
Enjoy enchanting glimpses of wildlife; deer at dawn, lake trout and salmon migrating in spring and fall. The extra-wide, permanent dock reaches 140' into Lake Superior and provides a perfect place to relax on the adirondack chairs and watch children at play or enjoy a serene moment at sunset.
Our architecturally designed cottage has an old world feel. The all-wood interior on the main and upper floors, most of which is milled from old growth Douglas Fir timbers, lend warmth and character to the home. The wrap-around screen porch provides protected outdoor space for dining, reading, playing cards or taking an afternoon nap. The fieldstone rumsford fireplace will take the evening chill out of the air and the 12' dining table will seat a crowd for special meals prepared in the gourmet kitchen.
The lower level 'rainy day' room features table tennis, a kids rock-climbing wall, a large flat screen TV monitor with AppleTV. An electric keyboard and an acoustic guitar is there waiting to be strummed. Plenty of books, games and puzzles line the shelves throughout the home.
We are 7 miles from the town of LaPointe where you'll find restaurants, bars, ice cream and souvenir shopping. There are tennis courts available as well as a Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course. Moped, kayak and bicycle rental also available. Take the ferry over to Bayfield for a day trip of shopping and dinner out.
Available for weekly rentals during summer months or shorter periods in fall, winter and spring. Designed by Dale Mulfinger of SALA Architects, and featured in his book, Family Cabin (https://www.tauntonstore.com/the-family-cabin#collateral-tabs)

Sunset on the dock, drinks on the porch, a friendly dog from next door, full gourmet kitchen, great bed linens and beds, this welcoming house has a heart!

We are so pleased that your family can gather and add to the memorable experiences that our Madeline Island cottage collects through the years! You always take special care and are warmly welcomed back!
This house was a dream cabin that gave 14 family members space to spread out and room to gather all together around one table. We were a group of four generations ages 5-85. The cabin has such a cozy esthetic and is spacious and comfortable with incredible views of the Apostle Islands and sunsets.
This was our third time staying. We go almost every year and have stayed at many phenomenal homes on the island, but this is far and away our favorite. The home is incredibly well thought-out for groups and very comfortable. The porch, the dock, the sunsets...it's just magical.
Memorial weekend for our mom we lost last year . Spending time with family reminiscing and making memories was quiet, peaceful ,spacious We loved it very comfortable would definitely come back
4 adults, 2 older teens, and 3 10 year olds stayed for 3 days and loved every part of it. The house is beautiful and has everything you need. Beds are really comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. Will for sure try to stay again.

We were thrilled with the space for a multi-family vacation, better than pictured! Plenty of space, the basement was a perfect escape for the kids, the kitchen well-equipped, porch lovely, and the dock/beach amazing!
This home is lovely, well-appointed, spacious - the perfect Madeline Island retreat. Between the screen porch and dock, we didn't want to leave the property. Hoping to return!

I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay!! Hope you can return!
Great house! Plenty of room. Clean. Well kept up. Wonderful wrap around porch. Kitchen is fully stocked (if you like to cook).Great dock. Our group has stayed at the home a number of times or the years and have loved it each time. Our group 70's-80's year olds are starting to age out of being able to make the hike to the water and dock. Highly recommend this property. Theresa the owner responds quickly should you have any questions.

We are glad your family enjoyed the spaces throughout the property and had a memorable experience!
Rendezvous House was relaxing, well-stocked, comfortable, had lovely decor, a great view, and fun dock and beach.
Plenty of space for 16 of us to move around without being on top of each other. The nine kids enjoyed the ping pong table and climbing wall. And very comfortable beds!
We loved sitting on the screened in porch to look at the lake and enjoy the sunsets. Not far from the state park or town.
Our group of ten, including adults and children, enjoyed all aspects of this memorable property from the well-appointed kitchen, the pool table in the basement, the *amazing* screened in porch, the front lawn for a wiffle ball game, the many cozy and unique spaces to the huge dock with chairs and sandy beach! Theresa was very helpful both before and during our stay, and we thank her and her family for sharing this special place with others. We will be back to Madeline Island!!

This is our second time staying at this amazing home, and everything was great. Our first night there, we viewed the Northern Lights. We woke all 5 grandkids (ages 3-14) and all sat on the dock and watched in awe. What a way to start the week!
This property has everything we needed to enjoy our time together. We all want to go back! Thank you so much.

About the host
Hosted by Theresa Brunker
We built this family cottage to create a space for us to gather our family and friends and step away from the city to appreciate the gifts of the crystal clear lake and the fresh pine-scented air. We have created many memories over the years and hope that you and your families will do the same!
What makes this property unique
Lake Superior has a coastal, maritime feel drawing sailors and kayakers to the Apostle Island archipelago. Bayfield is a quaint harbor town and Madeline Island is its slightly rebellious cousin. As we drive from the hectic city, to the rural Wisconsin roads and finally aboard the ferry and across the channel to Madeline Island, all cares have vanished!
