Character house with breathtaking views

Arrived in 1974 for a sabbatical year, we fell in love with the country and could not bring ourselves to leave it. Since 2004 we have completely renovated a cottage in our picturesque village, halfway between the Mediterranean and the high mountains with breathtaking views of the foothills of the Canigou massif and the Pyrenees. Ideal region for walkers or hikers but also for visiting medieval villages or vestiges of Romanesque art. Less than 15 kms you are spoiled for choice between visiting Castelnou, with its 12th century castle, the Priory of Serrabonne, jewel of Romanesque art, the adorable village of Eus (the sunniest in France) or the small fortified town of Villefranche. If you feel like spending a day at the sea: the nearest beaches are 40 minutes away. A little further south a visit to Collioure, a small romantic fishing port, is a must. Gourmets will find their happiness in the many nice restaurants in the region, which also has starred chefs, notably at Belesta le Château or Montner. The wines of the region are renowned and we will be happy to guide you in your choice of visits, excursions or hikes.
