This historic home was built in 1928 from lumber milled on the property and is a wonderful place to enjoy the cool clear waters of Lake Burton. The four bedroom, three bathroom home is on a flat lot and has one of the best views on the lake with beautiful sunset views. Three bedrooms are on the main level and a fourth bedroom is upstairs. The master bedroom has a king size bed with an attached bathroom. On the other side of the house are two bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds and these bedrooms share a bathroom. The family bedroom upstairs has a queen bed and four twin beds with an attached bathroom. Outside you will find an old-fashioned tree swing, two hammocks, and a fire pit. There is room for a rousing game of volleyball or badminton. The flat lot leads to the lake which has a shallow entrance which quickly deepens for great swimming or floating on rafts. Play in the water or take the two kayaks or the canoe out into Murray Cove. There is seating on the dock or above the boathouse to watch over those in or on the water. If you would like to swing on the porch swing and listen to the sound of a screen door shutting, this house is for you. You can drink from old fashioned aluminum glasses, play ping pong, make home made ice cream and cook on the grill. You can end your day at the fire pit roasting marshmallows, listening to the gentle waves calm down and watching for the lightning bugs to come out. Let us help you enjoy this lovely setting.

We loved this charming lake house! The set up was great for 3 generations and the lakefront was beautiful. The kids loved the trampoline in the lake and the adults enjoyed the canoe and kayaks. Will be back next year.

The home and lot were beautifully kept! Nice large lot for the kids to play and lots of room for fishing! Caught 2 large mouth bass. Lovely dock and cove area great for swimming and playing on water trampoline. We loved the layout of the home, lots of space! We all had a blast playing ping pong! Highly recommend this place!!
A model lake vacation. Interesting property/lot, great boathouse, comfortable house. We loved relaxing on the home's back porch or up top on the boathouse. Extra bonus that the firepit was beautifully set for s'mores. Nice to be on the east side of Lake Burton, such that the trip to Clayton for groceries is only ~20min each way.
Our family just had the best weekend!! The cottage is so charming with beautifully restored wood floors, comfy beds, modern kitchen appliances and designer bathrooms. It felt so comfortable like home! The big water trampoline was a hit with the kids and all of us loved floating around and playing in the lake. Another fun thing for the kids was playing kitchen in the little old playhouse. The front porch and the top of the boat house were great for relaxing together and enjoying the view of the lake and mountains. The fire pit was perfect for watching the sunset and the stars with s’mores. We’re already making plans to come back!
Third time here and we’re going again next summer. Need I say more? The communication issue is with the VRBO process. Cumbersome and sometimes frustrating. It’s not the host’s problem.
Title says it all. Charm of 97 year old home right on the waterfront. Total comfort. Easy to use kitchen and charcoal grill/smoker. You’ll want to return. Suggest you bring a plumber’s helper. We needed one and couldn’t find one in the house.
We had a wonderful stay at this property on Lake Burton with incredible lake views! The property is exactly as described and pictured. The living area is very large and spacious. There is gracious plenty dining space and plenty of pots, pans, and dishes for cooking. The dock is wonderful with kayaks for use. The fire pit outside was wonderful and the hosts even left fire wood for us. We used the side grilling porch almost every night! Our entire group loved this place and we will be back!

The lake cottage is well stocked inside and in the boat house. There are puzzles, tubes for floating in the lake, life jackets, games, s’mores sticks, towels, etc. The one item not there is shampoo/conditioner so make sure to pack your own. The cove is very private with great views and having a large yard is a bonus for families with children. The owners are fantastic communicators and keep great care of the cottage and the property. We look forward to staying again and have already recommended this home to friends!
Our family included youngsters 2,3,4 & 6 had a wonderful time at this cottage. One of best level grass lots on Lake Burton, allowed us parents to relax on back porch and let the kiddos make memories. Pictures don’t do it justice. Home is stocked with EVERYTHING needed. Hosts are wonderful. Can’t wait to return!
Wonderful host. Great location. The cove is quiet and the view spectacular.
The charm of this 1928 cottage is amazing. The host are attentive and friendly. Feels like you are staying in a friends home.
The tea towel gift that was hand embroidered was a special touch.
I’d give this 6 stars if I could!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful farmhouse on Lake Burton. We picked a great week to visit. The house is very charming with a beautiful boat dock and gorgeous views.
Everything was perfectly accommodating.
Thanksgiving holiday with out of town family, children and grandchildren.
This home was a home run for our family.
Plenty of room. Beautiful 1928 home.
Plenty of things in stock as far as amenities and kitchen use.
Very gracious and thoughtful owners.
We are so happy with our experience.
We would definitely recommend this VRBO home.
Our family enjoyed our stay so much! Vic and Beth were readily available for any questions or needs during our stay. We especially appreciated all of the activities and amenities available (kayaks, games, well stocked kitchen, etc). Highly recommend!
My husband found this sweet cottage by the lake. We celebrated my 52 birthday with our family- friends, The Bells. It was absolutely wonderful! This cottage is well stocked. There are wonderful outdoor games to play in the little red shed and the home is well cared for. The ping pong table was an absolute hit ! The beds were very comfortable (and this is difficult to find in our experience) , and the space is clearly loved by the owners. The owners were so kind and welcoming and the check- in process was the easiest one we have ever experienced. The hammocks under the oak trees are delightful to curl up and red a book. We also rented a pant-ton boat from the local marina and that was easy abs super fun . There are nearby islands to explore. The kitchen is comfortable and the home has little sweet details such as embroidered towels, beach towels, great tea selection and mints that make it really feel like home, not just a typical VRBO rental. We are grateful for the opportunity to have stayed here this past weekend and hope to stay again soon.

About the host
Your host
I vacationed on Lake Burton in the 1950's and my husband and I rediscovered Lake Burton a few years ago. This property reminds me of the homes where we stayed in the 1950's. We would love to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
This is one of the best flat lots on the lake and has beautiful western sunsets. The lake is shallow for little ones, but quickly deepens for great lake fun.
What makes this property unique
This is a unique home as the home was milled from trees from the property. It is a very peaceful and has great views of Murray Cove and the big lake beyond.
