Cozy Mountain Retreat with Peaceful Vibes and Beautiful Sunsets

We had an amazing stay at Fox Den Haven. The cabin is beautifully maintained, spacious, and set in a peaceful location that made for a perfect escape. The layout worked really well, with comfy king beds in every room and a cozy living area with a fireplace that we gravitated to every night. The outdoor porch was our go-to spot, we loved starting the day there with coffee and winding down in the evening with a glass of wine! The hot tub was another favorite, and the game room with ping pong kept everyone entertained. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to cook in, and having an extra fridge downstairs was super convenient. We also appreciated how close it was to Lake Burton, hiking trails, and charming nearby towns. It’s clear the owners have put a lot of care into creating a welcoming and relaxing space.Highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable getaway with great amenities and a beautiful setting. We’d absolutely stay again.

Mountains, Water, Wildlife, Comfort, Coziness

My husband, son, doggie, and I enjoyed our recent stay at this lovely, spacious home which is super private and comfortable, but also RIGHT next to the marina with driveway access to the main highway. We didn't have a boat- but if you bring one to enjoy the lake- it should be easy to get it in and out of the property. My family and I have stayed at dozens of homes in and around this area, and the Fox Den Haven is one of our favorites. The home is hugged by the trees creating privacy, but the huge yard is cleared so there is room to sunbathe or play games or just enjoy nature. The home is well equipped and spacious with a large, elevated, covered outdoor deck. We've enjoyed both thunderstorms and evening cocktails on it. We once sat there and watched a bear meandering through the yard- which was THRILLING (and we still talk about it). Inside, there's an open kitchen and den with two bedrooms upstairs. If you need more space, there are a couple more bedrooms downstairs with a separate den area. This is perfect for sets of couples or two families. There's even a tiny house on the property that can be used for additional guest privacy or as a writer-style retreat from the main house.I would say this is a perfect spot for those searching for a lake getaway during the summer or a cozy winter hideaway!

About the host

Hello, and thank you for taking a moment to check out our cabin! I currently live in Athens, GA, but I'm originally from San Diego and Seattle. I moved to Georgia about five years ago and quickly fell in love—with the lush greenery, the slower pace of life, and the genuine southern hospitality that so many people here embody. It’s been a joy discovering all that this beautiful corner of the world has to offer, and I’m excited to share a little piece of it with you.

Why they chose this property

I purchased The Fox Den Haven as a place to refill my bucket—a peaceful retreat from the chaos of everyday life. After searching for the right refuge, I fell in love with this home and its serene setting near beautiful Lake Burton.

One of the first gems I discovered was LaPrade’s Marina, just down the road. It’s a true local treasure, with multiple dining options and boat rentals that make it easy to enjoy the lake life. Just ten minutes from the cabin, you’ll also find Bleu Canoe, a cozy spot serving up delicious Cajun dishes and creative weekly specials. It’s a favorite with the locals—so don’t be surprised if there’s a wait!

Exploring the nearby town of Clayton has been a joy, and I often find myself heading just across the state line into North Carolina for a bit of antiquing and scenic drives. There’s truly no shortage of things to do in the area—whether you’re into hiking, water sports, fishing, horseback riding, or simply browsing unique shops and local markets.

This home has been a gift to me, and it brings me so much joy to share it with others. I hope you find it as relaxing and restorative as I do.

What makes this property unique

From the moment you arrive at the property, you're embraced by nature. The driveway winds through a canopy of trees, wrapping the home in lush greenery during the warmer months. In the fall, that green transforms into a breathtaking tapestry of reds, golds, and burnt orange—it’s truly magical.

Just a short stroll from the house is a peaceful trail/road, perfect for stretching your legs or letting your pups enjoy a little adventure. The whole property feels incredibly serene. Every time I walk through the front door, I feel the stress of the outside world melt away.

As this is my personal home, I’ve put a lot of love into it—updating the upstairs bedrooms with new flooring, adding fresh shiplap and warm lighting, and completing the downstairs level in 2024 to create even more inviting space. I’ve also taken care to stock the kitchen with tools and equipment for cooks of all kinds—it’s a great space to make and share meals.

And if you’re lucky, you just might spot some of the local wildlife. We’ve had visits from deer, wild turkeys, and even the occasional bear or bobcat—always from a safe distance, of course!
