Seasonal. Beautiful townhome right on the Gulf of Mexico with gulf front screened lanai and steps onto the beach. Another open gulf front balcony off the master bedroom. In addition to the two bedrooms, there is a pull out sofa in the living room as well as a day bed. Have you vacationed on the island before? Palm Island a.k.a. Don Pedro Island, is a barrier island 7 miles long between Sarasota and Ft. Myers on the Gulf coast with sugar-sand beaches, beautiful harbors and lagoons, great fishing and shelling only accessible by a short 10 minute car ferry or private boat. Our beaches are some of the most pristine and quiet in all of coastal Florida. There are no high rises blocking your Gulf views, unpaved sandy roads, and a relaxed "Old Florida" atmosphere. There is one restaurant called the Rum Bay that serves lunch and dinner. The car ferry runs continually from 6:30 am until 10:00 pm from Sunday through Thursday and until 11:00 pm Friday and 12:00 midnight Saturday. You drive your car onto the ferry and then directly to your vacation rental home. It's a very special place to vacation. We have kayak rentals and golf cart rentals for your use during your vacation. All of our properties on Palm Island require a ferry ride to get there. One round trip on the ferry for car and passengers costs $55. The alternative is to purchase a book of 10 round trips for $400, or $40 per round trip. For more information on the ferry, google Palm Island Transit.

fantastic location

Great location just steps from the beach. The property and furnishings are a little dated, but the place was very comfortable and well-equipped. Full kitchen, washer/dryer, plenty of beach towels, beach chairs and pool floats in the shed, screened lanai, good A/C, all in all a very good value for the price. We didn't need to contact the property manager during our stay at all, everything was communicated up-front and checkin/checkout was very easy and smooth.

Lovely place to stay

We really, really enjoyed the solitude and peace at this property. My husband would wake up extra early each morning to sit on the screened-in porch and read, with the lull of the waves in the background. Lovely views, clean property - can't beat the views either! We only left the island twice - once for a beach umbrella and the other time for more groceries. Walls are a little thin so you MIGHT hear the neighbors walking up and down the stairs. Only thing that could be updated is the grill and beach chairs/umbrella. Grill tray has a gigantic burn hole in the middle from people using lighter fluid on the grill - food will fall right through to the coals. Beach umbrella was busted and plastic chairs are broken. Don't let that be a deciding factor though - this place is really special.

A quiet paradise...

This property is just lovely. Simply and tastefully decorated in great condition with all necessities, it opens directly onto the Don Pedro gulf-side beach. You can sleep to the sound of the surf, watch sunsets from the porch (or from beach chairs with toes in the water), walk for miles in either direction along the pristine unpopulated beach enjoying heron, egrets, pelicans, willets and other birds along the way. Delightful outdoor shower. A stone's throw to tennis courts and a pool, kayaks/paddleboards or larger boats can be rented for exploring the waterways on both sides of the island, and there is one restaurant/bar about a mile up the island. Perfect for those who enjoy simplicity, peace, and nature.

Positives and Negatives

This is a lovely location and well-equipped townhouse. The furnishings, kitchen, etc. were all good. While the dishwasher was on the fritz for the entirety of our stay, the property manager was very much on the ball and it was not the fault of anyone that it needed a part that had to be ordered. The thing that was most concerning was the odor of the place. When we got home, we had wash some of our clothes more than once and our suitcases had to go outside for airing out. It's just musty, and was not as healthy an environment as one would hope. Fortunately, the weather was perfect for leaving the rental open all week. It was enough of an annoyance to prevent us from renting this unit again, but was not awful. In addition, the upstairs bedroom blinds were in rough condition and should be replaced. We did have a wonderful week here, and I was impressed with the property manager and the very friendly repairman, but I cannot give it 5 stars based on the above mentioned issues. If you do not have asthma and are not overly bothered by a musty odor, you will not have any issue with this rental.

Just perfect!

We had a wonderful time from beginning to end. The property was nicely clean and fully equipped (including cleaning/laundry supplies, cooking spices, lots of beach toys and beach towels and extra bedding sheets and towels). The property manager was very helpfull and went above and beyond to accomodate our neeeds. Everyhting was working propertly. The beach is amazing, clear warm water, no waves and only few steps away!!! and each night you are amazed by this stunning sunset. It doesnt get any better than this! We will certainly come back!
