About this property

Historic church renovated into a large private apartment in Durand. Walk to downtown restaurants and bars and sit on the patios to enjoy the Chippewa River. Book a kayak trip or bike the Chippewa River State Trail. Just 20 minutes to the Great River Road, Lake Pepin, and the Mighty Mississippi. Enjoy the local Durand Brewing Company and Eau Galle Cheese Factory. Close to Menomonie, Wabasha, Eau Claire. Come enjoy the scenery of beautiful Pepin County during all seasons!

Two bedrooms, one full and one half-bath on the main floor. Loft with spiral staircase with four more single beds makes you feel like you're at summer camp. We have a piano too! Very unique property with stained glass windows and original hardwood floors. Everything you need in fully equipped kitchen, smart TV, board games.

Golden Girls Weekend

Such a fun place to stay! Prospect place is stocked with anything you could need and more. Everything as described by owner. Check in and out was a breeze. Walking distance to bars and restaurants was perfect for nights out. We had a great weekend celebrating friendship and life in a truly unique space.

Girls' trip!

We were looking for a place close to Pepin Lake and this place worked out great! Lots of space, walk to restaurants, easy drive to shop small towns/spend a day on the Mississippi. Perfect trip!

We bought and renovated Prospect Place in 2019 and we keep working on it as we can, but we absolutely love sharing the space with others. We live in outside the area so it's a wonderful getaway for us too and our creative outlet!

Why they chose this property

We had never met anyone in Durand before we embarked on this adventure! The little town has been so supportive and so many people and businesses have helped us make Prospect Place part of the community. With the downtown right on the Chippewa River there is so much history in the old buildings and the town is surrounded by bluffs and winding county roads connecting to more little towns on the Great River Road. Lots of hidden gems to eat, drink, and be active outside! Just ask and we'll connect you!

What makes this property unique

We are lucky to stand out as a renovated church that came with all the stained glass, high ceilings and a church bell you can still ring when you arrive! The only thing we removed were the pews, and we otherwise added walls and a spiral staircase to create bedrooms and a loft, and put appliances and countertops into the alter for a modern kitchen. The main bathroom is where the nursery once was and the second bathroom we snuck in the old stairwell to the church basement. It's a giant open space with everything you need to be with others or enjoy the solitude, be creative, or work remotely.
