Luxurious farmhouse on Westlake Shore Sandbanks

Pettit House is a cozy licensed short term accommodation in Prince Edward County, license # ST-2020-0174R2. Built in 1840, it was renovated and expanded, maintaining its farmhouse charm. This peaceful escape is on West Lake and is minutes from Sandbanks Park, the towns of Wellington, Bloomfield and Picton, wineries, restaurants and other activities. It is elegantly furnished for comfort and relaxation, with a chef`s kitchen and beverage station for entertaining and gourmet meals.



The Pettit House has been carefully renovated and furnished to enable guests to experience a relaxed vacation with friends and family. There is so much to do in Prince Edward County, but you won`t want to leave the grounds where you can collectively prepare gourmet meals and enjoy local food and wines. Sitting on six acres, it boasts a fire pit and water access to West Lake and Sandbanks Park. Stunning modern bathrooms, with soaker tubs and rain head showers, and lush linens make for luxurious relaxation.



The entire property is at your disposal, except the linen closet and basement. Walks around the grounds to the lake are encouraged, and enjoy the fire pit at night under the massive Butternut tree for smore`s and marshmallow roastings. The Great Room is an excellent meeting point for guests to interact, over games, tv, music and more. The dining room comfortably seats 8, where guests can enjoy a meal prepared in the gourmet kitchen.



Although we are not on site, we have arrangements with local people to attend to any concerns, provide information, suggestions on places to go, etc. We are readily available by phone and email to help maximize your stay and enjoyment.



Prince Edward County has many excellent restaurants, wineries, cideries and breweries, as well as galleries, antique and quaint shops, all within short driving distances. A book of options to explore is provided to assist with your itinerary.



You will need a car to get around, although many attractions can be accessed by bicycles. Bikes, including electric bikes, can be rented nearby. Taxis and limo services are available to keep you and your guests safe as you experience local wineries and restaurants.



There is a newly renovated on-site Gym for guests to enjoy yoga and exercise, and a level 2 J-1772 Electric Vehicle charger.

The Pettit House so far has been one of my favourite stays in the county. Beautiful restored Home that has thought of every detail to make you comfortable. From excellent coffee to the softest linens I would really recommend this Home.

Charming County Retreat

Pettit House is a beautiful property and very well-equipped. The interior and grounds are spectacular, everything you could want is right there! The location is perfect for trips to the beach, shopping, dining and winery visits although you may find you don’t want to leave the house once you’ve settled in!!!

Perfect Family Holiday

A fantastic experience all around. We were two families of four and there was plenty of space for everyone to eat, sleep and play. Kids loved the large backyard for activities and adults enjoyed the gym, kitchen and living spaces. Very close to Sandbanks and easy to get to many interesting places around Prince Edward County. Exceptional welcome by the co-host. Would go back again and again!

Weekend Retreat

Two of us chose to stay in this amazing, spacious, restful home. The chef's kitchen is outstanding. The bedrooms, bathrooms and living room are of five star hotel quality. And the view of the sun setting over the water just put it over the top. I would come back again in an instant.

Five-Star Hotel For One Family

It felt like we were staying at a five-star hotel for only one set of guests. The farmhouse is an exquisitely renovated large home with a huge backyard of lush golf-course-like lawns that seem to go on forever. And it's just minutes down the road from Sandbanks park!

Very comfortable family stay.

This is a very comfortable and extremely well equipped property. Communication with Arthur and Lisa was outstanding and the property manager, Cathie, was very helpful and supportive. Our only slight criticism would be a general lack of clothes hanging space in the bedrooms. But this is s really lovely property.

The Perfect House, the perfect location

This is the second time my family has rented this house. It is a beautiful home on a beautiful property. We use it as a home base in Prince Edward County to visit the beaches, the wineries and shops. It is large open concept main floor with a gourmet kitchen we love to cook in. The bedrooms are beautiful. We will be back again.

Absolutely stunning property

We had such a wonderful stay at Pettit House. The check-in process was superb, attention to detail in the house was beyond expectations. As soon as we walked in, I could feel my body relax. My husband and I, as well as our grown children and their partners, hung out, enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed gourmet kitchen and played games in the family room by the wood burning fireplace. We would absolutely consider going back. A great time was had by all.

Beautiful cottage & experience

My girlfriends and I were thoroughly impressed with the Pettit House. Cathie (the house manager) went above and beyond to insure our stay in the house and our PEC experience was top notch. She even went so far as to offer recommendations for activities and food in the area. The attention to detail in the house in second to none and I couldn't recommend this cottage more for a group to stay at. Thanks again!!

Beyond Expectations

I can go on forever about the property, the kitchen, the rooms, the ambience- suffice to say that everything was absolutely wonderful. The pictures don’t lie- it is actually a beautiful place where you feel instantly comfortable and want to return again and again. The entire stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Catherine (house manager) was flawless and was available at a moments notice. Dare I say that it exceeded some of our 5 star hotel stays. Great place. Thanks Lisa and Arthur.

Giving thanks to Pettit House for a perfect Thanksgiving weekend!

Went searching for a place to stay for Thanksgiving weekend, the pictures of Pettit House were met with a resounding ‘YES!!!’ from our multigenerational family. We booked without hesitation. Upon arrival and entering the house, I heard gasps and squeals of delight as everyone took in the stunning surroundings, each room simply spectacular. Every detail has been thought of, and the property Manager Cathie is an absolute gem. We had been there but 30 minutes and already were asking for availability next year. We hope you have the opportunity to experience this warm, cozy and truly luxurious spot.

Now I know what it feels like to live like a billionaire. Everything about this property from the large (incredible fridge stove and coffee maker) to the smallest detail (wood for the fire pit, spices for cooking, games and even poker chips (we had brought our own because no property ever has them was exceptional. And we have to heap praise on property manager Cathy and owner Arthurthey promptly responded to every request and looked after our every need. Best booking ever.

We have kept the house name to honour the early Pettit Family Loyalists, who came to Prince Edward County in the late 1790's to escape the US following the Revolutionary War. We are happy to share the house with others to enjoy its tranquility and charm, while exploring the wonderful offerings in The County.

We chose to own in The County because of all the community has to offer - from wineries, to swimming at Sandbanks, cycling, snowshoeing and the many great restaurants. The Pettit House has historic charm that we instantly fell in love with, and we extensively renovated to provide modern amenities for excellent entertaining, while maintaining that charm.

What makes this property unique

A gourmet kitchen, with everything necessary to cook fabulous dinners. A drinks bar with wine and beer fridges and ice maker, and a built in Miele coffee maker for perfect cappuccinos and lattes. A large wood fireplace with comfortable couches, TV and ample space to serve charcuterie boards and refreshments. All centrally located close to Sandbanks Park and the towns of Wellington, Picton and Bloomfield, and their great restaurants as well as wineries and other attractions
