About this property
Valhalla Up North - A Beautiful Place for a Relaxing Getaway
Updated, this 3,100sq ft, relaxing cabin retreat is located on Bass Lake on the Ossawinnimakee Chain, between Crosslake & Pequot Lakes, MN. A beautiful setting for multi-family gatherings, summer retreats, bridge groups, snowshoeing getaways, ice fishing, Fall colors & more! Valhalla {as we like to call it} has that quintessential up north cabin feel with knotty pine, hardwood floors, log accents and hand-built stone fireplace that was preserved during the renovation.
Valhalla has been in our family for over 30 years and is still enjoyed by us. We hope that you would treat it like your own.
The main level features 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, laundry, kitchen, dining, and great room. The kitchen is open & spacious and boasts stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, pantry, a large center island, and dining table with seating for up to 12. The 3 bedrooms up include a king-size master suite with adjoining sunroom providing scenic views. A generous size deck facing the lake is accessible from the kitchen and great room patio doors.
The walk out lower level has 2 more bedrooms, a large full bath, kitchenette, and family room with easy access to the lake.
Bass Lake is clear and clean and usually very quiet. There is an island, which makes for a fun picnic/snowshoe/cross country ski destination. Lots to explore!
Easy drive or walk to the Old Milwaukee club - a fantastic dive bar, or Norway Ridge Supper Club - for great ribs, walleye, etc.
The towns of Cross Lake and Pequot Lakes are each within 10 minutes, so grocery stores, coffee, liquor stores, ice cream, restaurants, bars, etc are all very convenient. [And, yes, tell the kids we have wifi :)]
{PLEASE NOTE: 1) WEDDINGS/BACHELOR/BACHELORETTE PARTIES OR SIMILAR EVENTS NOT ALLOWED 2) There is not a boat or jet ski available for rent due to insurance requirements. Reviews from our guest book: "Only Description = Valhalla is PRICELESS! Family memories made here are so precious and rare. And they will last a lifetime."
"Sunny every day. We spent the week at Valhalla. Great fun swimming, paddle boarding,, gathering around the fire, toasting s’mores and singing old family songs. We ate our meals on the deck, and barbecued everything in sight. So wonderful!! We spotted Loons (and their baby), turtles, beaver, eagles overhead, kingfishers, egrets, orioles, hummies galore dive bombing each other at the feeders, pilleated woodpeckers, monarchs, caught sunnies and crappies. WE LOVED IT!!!!!!"

Valhalla was a beautiful place to stay. The grounds were lovely, with beautiful lake views. The house was spacious and charming- would highly recommend this place!
4th time at this cabin. Beautiful place on a quiet lake. Lovely flow within the cabin. 3 bathrooms a plus and walk out downstairs to the lake. Nice sandy beach with lake toys available for use or rent.

Our mom's great grandparents settled up here (just across the lake) when they emigrated from Norway around 1890, so we are very tied to this particular place. Our family has owned this property since 1984, though we completely rebuilt the cabin in 2014. The kids and cousins are all close, and we attribute that largely to spending amazing quality time together at the cabin. Valhalla MN LLC offers this incredible and special place.
