About this property
The Little Red's most Luxurious Riverfront Home
Come relax and make lifetime memories at the Chateau on the Little Red, a 4,292 square foot luxury vacation home located on the breathtakingly beautiful Little Red River in Heber Springs, Arkansas. The Chateau was designed by renowned Arkansas architect Eugene Pfeifer Levy. It's architectural details include soaring ceilings, massive windows, exposed beams, and amazing wide-plank pine floors.
The Chateau's expansive windows offer spectacular views of the Little Red River. Three bedrooms (two kings and a queen) and three baths are located downstairs, each with a view of the river. A large fourth bedroom/bunk room (with six single beds) is located on the second floor. The master bedroom is immense. The master bedroom includes a separate seating area that looks out onto the Little Red River. The master bath has a very large soaking (jetted) tub, a separate shower, dual vanities and giant walk-in closet. We provide towels, wash clothes, make-up towels, and toiletries, as well as a hair dryer and a lighted make-up mirror.
The Chateau's main kitchen is a gourmet cook's delight. The Chateau, however, also includes an extremely nice complete second kitchen and two large gathering rooms, each with its own fireplace.
There is a large screened in porch and an enormous deck for taking in views of the river and relaxing outdoors. The lower deck (which includes a fire pit), and the private boat dock offer even more intimate views of the Little Red River and the setting's natural beauty.
The Chateau's grounds are nothing short of spectacular. Guests enter the grounds via a private gated entry, beautiful landscaping, stone pathways, and a large fountain complement the Chateau's lush setting. and a private boat dock. Large blueberry bushes line the driveway and parking area's wrought iron fencing.
While the Chateau is a fisherman's dream (In May of 1992, the world record for a brown trout (40 pounds, 4 ounces) was caught nearby), it is much, much more. Guests can enjoy hiking Bridal Veil Falls, Sugarloaf Mountain, Collins Creek, or the Mossy Bluff Nature Trail, kayaking or paddle boarding on the Little Red River, water skiing or cliff jumping at Greer's Ferry Lake, playing golf at the Red Apple Inn & Country Club, spending an afternoon at the charming Ruland Train Museum, shopping at Ellen Hobgood Gallery in downtown Heber Springs.
If you want to watch a movie, you'll enjoy the countless options offered by the Chateau's smart/streaming televisions. Guests can enjoy movies on the UHD 60+" televisions in either of the Chateau's two large living rooms, or on the smaller televisions in each bedroom. Our free Wi-Fi will allow you to stay connected, if you choose to do so. If you're feeling nostalgic, the upstairs bunk room's video gaming system offers 620 "old school" video games.
If you want to "unplug" and catch up on your reading, sit back in one of the power reclining couches in each of the Chateau's two living rooms. Don't forget to enjoy a fire, if you like, in one of the Chateau's two fireplaces.
Visiting Chefs will enjoy the Dacor Range and double oven, the second kitchen, the expansive prep area and the Chateau's fully equipped and stocked kitchens make cooking and entertaining a breeze. Outdoor cooking amenities include gas and charcoal grills. We provide charcoal and gas for the grills and outdoor cooking utensils.
The Chateau's larger kitchen offers seating for 8 guests at the dining table, and an additional 8 guests (4 and 4) at the two kitchen countertops. In addition, 6 to 8 more guests can be seated and served at the teak table located in the screened-in (outdoor) porch just off the Chateau's primary kitchen/great room. Two more additional guests can be accommodated at the indoor teak root table in the great room. The Chateau's second kitchen offers seating for an additional 6 guests at the second kitchen/living area's dining table.
After dinner, guests can enjoy a family game night! We offer a variety of card and board games that will entertain guests of all ages and interests.
The Little Red River and our dock make for instant outdoor fun. If you love the water (and follow our safety rules) you will enjoy exploring the Little Red River in our Intex Explorer K2 (2 person) Kayak. We provide life vests as well. Guests can enjoy fishing from the dock, fishing from our kayak or wade fishing. We can provide you recommendations for boat rentals or we can accommodate your boat at our boat dock. We can also provide recommendations for fishing guides.
If you're traveling with an electric vehicle (EV), you'll love our NEMA (level 2) charging outlet in the garage.
Our guests love visiting the Chateau and we are confident that you'll love it too. Don't hesitate to contact us with special needs or for recommendations on fun places to visit, eat, or recreate.

About the host
Hosted by Margo Germany

My husband and I fell in love with nearby Eden Isle after spending our first anniversary at the Red Apple Inn in 1984 and visiting often with our children as they grew up. Although we live in Memphis, we spend almost every weekend on Eden Isle. We purchased a beautiful vacation villa on Eden Isle and Greer's Ferry Lake (the Retreat at Eden Isle) in 2017, but were also always interested in a property on the nearby Little Red River.
When we noticed that the Chateau on the Little Red River was for sale, we quickly scheduled a visit and promptly purchased it in August of 2019. The Chateau was the perfect complement to our lake rentals, the Retreat at Eden Isle and Eden Isle's Fabulous Family Lake House.

Why they chose this property
The Chateau is located directly on the Little Red River around the bend from Cow Shoals and in an area that is literally teaming with trout. We love catching trout from our private dock. The setting is quiet, but close to Heber Springs.
What makes this property unique
The Chateau is spacious and intimate at the same time. The large windows throughout the home offer expansive views of the beautiful Little Red River. It is the perfect gathering place for a romantic getaway or a family retreat.
P.S. If you're driving an electric vehicle, you'll love our included EV charger (40 amp, level 2).
