We really enjoy our stay here. You can tell the hosts have put time and effort in making this place an enjoyable stay for their guests. The cabin is comfortable and well stocked. Check in and communication were great. We hope to stay here again next year.
This is a wonderfully well-maintained and charming cabin on a sweet, beautiful and serene lake in a delightful area of rural MN. My wife and I look forward to returning many times.
The cabin and the location on South Lida couldn't have been more perfect. We enjoyed the spectacular sunsets and sunrises. It was quiet and the water was always calm in this cove, so I was able to take my stand up paddle board out several times. We will definitely be back.
Had another great time on S. Lida. Tackle Box cabin is the best!! We were both in need of getting away from everything and recharging our batteries. It was so quiet and peaceful. Wish we could've stayed another week.
It can't get any better than this.... so quiet and relaxing here. We loved our stay at the Tackle Box Cabin and hope to come back again next year! Pamela and Deborah are fantastic hosts. Thank you!
Excellent communication with property owners. Cabin stocked with everything you need. Spotless. Cute and comfortable! One of our favorite cabins in MN.
Super cool vintage cabin has been updated with great taste and thoughtful amenities. It was very comfortable, cozy, and clean. There were just two of us but our 3 adult kids visited for a day and enjoyed the ambiance and privacy of the location. Beautiful water lilies and some weeds, but we enjoyed paddling around near the dock on inflated floaties to keep cool. A loon family visited during morning coffee and evening happy hour. We appreciated the washer/dryer since we were in the middle of a 2-month road trip.
We enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake from the living room & patio. Bald Eagles, Pelicans. Geese & Loons delighted us. The sunsets were stunning!
We enjoyed walking in the area & we met several friendly neighbors. One couple gave us freshly picked strawberries from their garden,
Debra & Pamela, owners of the cabin were very responsive to our questions. Their love of South Lida Lake & the Tackle Box cabin is obvious in the tastefully decorated cabin. We will return!
The Tackle Box Cabin is a quaint cabin and worth a taking a retreat to.
The cabin is a quaint little cabin on a quiet backroad. The cabin itself is clean, and will setup for rental. It is nostalgic in atmosphere but has all the amenities you need for a retreat away. I appreciated the eye for detail. The yard is great for lawn games and offers just enough separation for the neighbors, also the paio off the cabin is perfect for evening talks and dinners outdid. The lake is small in acres but perfect for paddle boarding, as we did all week. It is awesome to share a lake with a state park. Also, the small town, not far away, offers all the amenities you might need include a delish Cafe with yummy pie. I was looking for a safe, chill week where I could enjoy the summer sun and recharge - this setting gave me ALL of that.
In a most secluded corner of Ottertail County we easily located The Tackle Box Cabin. A fex steps to South Lake Lida and boating, fishing, skiing. We found the island a short ride or longish swim to the northwest has wonderful sandy swim & play access with an 'adventure' experience for the two to hundred n two. Cabin faces mostly west meaning the S SW W NW breeze swoops gently off the lake through the largish ventilation windows. Cabin has everything and all spotless and in order. Very quiet with a good view of south-So. Lake Lida. There are ni Lake Trout; Minnesota Walleye are right off the dock. The son-in-law caught three of his largest Walleyes ever right in view of the cabin. We had a very nice relaxing stay! Thank you
Our family spent 6 wonderful nights at Tackle Box with family from Fargo joining us during the days and sleeping at the nearby campground. Pamela and Debra were wonderful to work with. Communication was great from beginning to end. The cabin is larger than what the pictures show and it is fully stocked. They had everything we wanted and when I asked if they had an electric skillet for our fish fry they said no but they thought it was a great idea so they bought one and had it waiting when we arrived! S Lake Lida is the smaller of the two lakes and we enjoyed the calm and quiet. We were able to ski, tube and do a lot of fishing. You are able to connect to N Lida via boat so that was a nice option if you wanted more space. The older girls enjoyed canoeing over to the beach. We hiked, played board games, many lawn games, swam, laughed and slept well. The sunsets were amazing. We would recommend this home to everyone.
What an amazing last-minute-getaway we stumbled upon. To say this was like something out of a dream is an understatement! All my life I have dreamed of a spot like this for a vacation. Not a resort, just me and my people, a quiet lake, a hilltop view, rustic, and set in a simpler time…I could not be more happy. Debra and Pamela have left nothing out in this little piece of paradise. Pizza cutter? Check. Air pump? Check. Coffee? Check. Laundry detergent and dryer balls? Check. Marshmallow roasting sticks? Check. Every last detail was perfect. We fished, swam, boated, read, canoed, and relaxed. The porch was the perfect place for meals, reading, s’mores, and sunsets. The windows overlooking the cabin give the perfect view of probably the best fishing lake we’ve ever been on. The topography of the surrounding area is gorgeous! You feel like you’re more up North than you are and it’s just lovely! We availed ourselves to the Maple Beach Burgers on our last day and are happy to have made the short trip over. We used the state park boat ramp. It was a little further than the public launch, but was better for our boat. Every detail of the cabin has been thoughtfully considered and Debra and Pamela were the best hosts. Without a doubt, we WILL be back!
This was our third year of staying at Tackle Box Cabin. We've been coming to Lake Lida for 30 years and this cabin is perfect. If you want a place to relax this is the place to go. Pamela & Debra made sure we had everything we needed.
Great place for all three of us to swim, boat and fish.

The location is very relaxing and peaceful. The teenage grandkids even let the the cell phones alone and played board games when they were not able to go fishing or be in the lake.
Lovely little time capsule of a cabin (but clean, renovated, and with fast WiFi). Perfect for some quiet family time, board games, hiking, and gravel cycling (if you're into that).
What a great place to stay! The owners have created a very welcoming, comfortable home in a great location and are willing to share it! I loved every minute of our stay - from the well equipped location, comfy beds, beautiful views. I haven’t visited Lida for almost 8 years when I would stay in my parents place. We were able to hike Maplewood, grill hot dogs at Maple beach, visit Itasca (twice!). Unfortunately, Maple beach burgers was only open for the weekends so we’ll need to see them next time. Let us know when bookings are open for next year!
Our long weekend at Tacklebox cabin was perfect. The cabin had everything we needed, a beautiful view of the lake, very comfortable bed, fire pit and we found a cribbage board to amuse us when it was too breezy to be outside. Golfed at two local courses and biked at Maplewood State Park which was stunning. Our hosts were very responsive to all of our questions. We will be back!
Even more cute in person. Had everything we needed, well stocked. Communication with hosts was great, very generous people. A peaceful place close to fun amenities.
the place is understated and not glitzy. but it is solid, clean and beautiful. No cheap knickknacks (thank god). towels and linens were new, soft and comfortable. Place was so clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. Most times we sat on the deck or the dock. Took a couple of drives to go for walks. So relaxing.
Great Cabin, Amazing View, Clean and Great Fishing
We had an amazing stay on South Lida at Tackle Box cabin. The cabin has everything you need and is very clean. We were amazed by the scenery and the quality fishing on the lake. My wife and I along with our high school age boys had a very relaxing stay, and would highly recommend this property. Pamela and Deb were very prompt and courteous throughout.
My husband and I had the most lovely time! He enjoyed fishing, I enjoyed reading on the patio with the beautiful lake view. The hiking in Maplewood state park is abundant and beautiful. Kitchen well stocked. We would come back without a question. Sunsets are out of this world!😃
Everything about this cabin is easy. Perfectly situated on the lake and just close enough to neighboring towns. Decor is sweet, rehab done well. Communication with Deborah was prompt and helpful. Thanks for sharing this place. Oh, and we vote for keeping cabin red!
