Aphrodite is the most secluded cottage, perched over the Little Morongo Canyon wash against dramatic, craggy mountain walls. This is a classic, fully restored homestead structure with the hallmarks & delights of a “world gone by.” Huge windows show off the desert landscape & expansive views. Fully equipped kitchen, bathroom w/ shower/tub, queen bed w/ memory foam mattress, smart TV, private patio with BBQ and partially fenced for privacy, air conditioning, heating & a real wood-burning stove.

Some of many Hidden Passage Amenities:

The mountain-water feed infinity pool for Panorama Pass Guests. The pool with 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains is open year-round for poolside lounging in the sun, even if the water is too cold for swimming. The solar heated swimming season starts when nights warm in Spring and usually goes through late Fall. Note: Due to weather conditions, in winter months the pool shade sails may be taken down.

Hike. Hidden Passage Guest Ranch is in a secluded 130-acre canyon – an island within the Sand to Snow National Monument - with miles of unforgettable hiking trails right outside your door. Both leisurely walks around the village property to advanced serious all-day hikes. Will rarely see a soul . . . unless our own guests. (Trail map in Apollo Community Center.)

High degree of privacy, the cottages spread across 25 acres so no worry about “too close” quarters. At the same time there is a community center, coffee café to hang out, meet others, get information about the area.

Quiet, serenity, spectacular star gazing, desert air relaxation, meditative even if not your practice!

Hidden Passage of Panorama Pass is in the center of everything, 20 minutes to Joshua Tree, 20 minutes to Palm Springs, 20 minutes to Pioneer Town, 90 minutes to LA. Note: Joshua Tree National Monument is an exotic and wonderful place but is at the “end of the road” for most desert adventures. Consider a location that is more central so as to have access to more of the plethora of desert offerings.)

Nice hideaway

This is the second time we've stayed on the property. It's a beautiful, secluded spot about 20 minutes to Joshua Tree. We're thinking about returning when the weather is a warmer and can take advantage of the pool and hiking around the mountains that ring the place. Diane is an excellent communicator. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Desert serenity

We really enjoyed our stay at Hidden Passage in the Aphrodite cabin. The view was even better than expected and all the windows made the space feel a lot bigger for 2 adults and a pup. It was a quiet and peaceful getaway, close enough to go into town to grab a bite and catch a show at Pappy’s and then come back to relax and enjoy being surrounded by nature. The wood stove was a nice touch and kept us warm on a couple of chilly nights. The bed was comfy and we had everything we needed during our stay. We loved the privacy of the cabin and didn’t get a chance to check out the pool or other common spaces, but we are already planning another visit!

While the check in was full of hiccups, I send a huge thank you to Diane for helping us! The property is exactly as described, the sunrise seen from the large window is perfect and the night skies are priceless. The location leads to a quiet stay, easy access to both Joshua Tree national park and Palm Springs. We plan on returning, without a doubt.

Secluded Beauty

My wife and I stayed here in early May as a base to visit Joshua Tree National Park. We had spent a season of our lives working in the park 30 years ago, so this was a bit of a reunion trip. The Aphrodite House was beautiful, well situated on the edge of the property and had stunning views of the rugged desert canyon. Beautifully apportioned, tile floor throughout and wonderful artwork and structure. Air conditioning and pedestal fan worked great. Very QUIET for sleeping! Kitchen well utilized with full size fridge, electric range and oven, microwave and all cooking utensils provided. The access from the main highway via dirt roads winds through scattered homes and trailers and requires careful attention the first time through. It takes about 12 minutes and best driving slowly due to rocky/sandy conditions, but doable for any vehicle (at least in dry May weather we encountered). Property Host was super attentive to messages and all our communications were quickly responded to.... Thanks Ellen and Diane! We didn't have any cell reception while on the property, but wifi/internet connectivity was excellent and WhatsApp messaging worked fine. The property also had a nice swimming pool which we enjoyed one afternoon while there. The pool was not heated at the time, so only tolerable for us while the sun was out shining. Overall a GREAT stay and would highly recommend especially if you want to be away from crowds !

March 2022 Aphrodite Cottage

Pros: Very quiet, remote, canyon view, very comfortable bed. Approx. 30 min from Joshua Tree and 40 min from Palm Springs Airport. Very unique location & cottage. Kitchen was well stocked and appreciated the coffee supply. Cons: The dirt road back to Hidden Passage is VERY rough & 10 mph max. This was not communicated in the VRBO rental information. I clocked it as only 1.5 miles, but it would take 10 min to drive every time we left or returned. Honestly, the rough, dirt road really impeded our enjoyment as we didn't want to drive it at night or more than once a day! A few of the pics were misleading - the kitchen bar stools pictured are not what are there now. The pool was not functioning like the VRBO said it would be in March. There was not a DVD player. Communication with the manager were not prompt nor complete.

Hidden Passage Guest Ranch

We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay at Hidden Passage Guest Ranch. Lot’s of things to do in the area and as a golfer was pleased to discover Hawk’s Landing Golf Course only 15 minutes away! Our accommodations were just what we were looking for as well with great hiking right outside your door. Staff went above and beyond to be helpful. Great hike with Diane and Johnson on Saturday morning! Ashley was super helpful as well. There are lots of places to stay on the ranch and our stay in Aphrodite cottage was terrific! We’re already looking at coming back next year!
