We had seven adults for a Christmas gathering. The space was absolutely perfect. The view was spectacular, the fire warm, fun games, a hot tub to sit in while looking over the mountains. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of kitchen stuff to make a great meal.
This was our 4th visit to Magnolia Retreat and we absolutely love it. The view is beautiful and layout of the house is great for families or multiple couples with kids. Each floor has a bedroom and bathroom so everyone has their own space. It is also convenient to everything. We went to Mercier Orchards to pick apples, hiked to Falls Branch Falls, and explored downtown Blue Ridge. All of our adventures were less than a 30 minute drive. You really couldn’t ask for a more cozy cabin or kinder owners. We are so thankful and will definitely be back.
The post for this property promised a wonderful view...it wasnt accurate. The view was spectacular. At dusk or dawn, it was hard to tell where the Earth stopped and Heaven started....the photos tell it better than I. This property was absolutely as depicted. Three spacious levels that offer the same spectacular view. Pleasant decor throughout that made this vacation home feel welcoming, cozy, and rustic. Peaceful retreat with lots of wildlife. If these owners will have us, my wife and I would love the opportunity to vacation here again.
We had a good time at this property. However, my husband was unable to join us down stars due to his ability to walk up and down the steps. We found a way by walking out side during the day so we could see where we was walking. Bears woke us up on several nights. First night, everyone was scare due to them being on the deck checking out everything. Moma and 3 cubs. Trash go out and we had to clean that up. We are nature oriented and did not mind seeing them. However, they where right outside our room window.. Host answered every question we emailed and was helpful in all ways . However, I have been charged extra money because after we left the property and was on our way home the bears came back that night and got into the trash and how are we responsible for something we have no control over. We bagged all the trash minus a few boxed thate had toys in it. But over all we enjoyed our time. The veiw is worth it.
The photos attracted us, but they don't do justice to this property. The views were AMAZING and no, I couldn't capture the beauty with my camera either. The layout is PERFECT with rooms spread over three levels. We knew we'd love the hot tub, but the fireflies gave us a nightly show as we floated our stress away. What we didn't expect was spending hours (and hours) playing pool with the boys, just laghing and being close without the gaming consoles in our lives.
The location is about 10-15 minutes from town which was perfect for us since we wanted to unplug and unwind, but it was convenient enough to have several great meals, go tubing and river rafting, gem mining, play miniature golf... the list goes on. We were thankful for the 4WD truck my wife's father loaned us-- I can imagine some cars might have difficulty on that last stretch up the hill to the cabin.
As the listing states, there is no WiFi (a perk for our selection to eliminate Xbox and work computers) but we had better-than-expected cell service, so we didn't unplug quite as much as we'd hoped. But that was on us. We still returned completely refreshed!
Other things we loved that we hadn't thought about:
Nearly instant hot water and great water pressure. Ceiling fans galore supplemented the powerful AC. Nice appliances including a dishwater. Nice plates, silverware, cooking pans and untelsils were all appreciated. A Master BR that seemed miles away from the game room on the lower level! We made a fire one night in the fire pit and had smores.
We didn't get to see a bear, but we saw the evidence (paw prints and claw marks includes) of one that tried to raid the bear-proof trash. Watch your little ones!
Sorry this has probably gone on too long, but we would HIGHLY recommend this lovely cabin in a fantastic location to anyone who wants to 'get away' for few days, unplug, and unwind. Our batteries are fully recharged!
Beautiful and simple place. Easy to get to from Atlanta. Home has a enough place to comfortably accommodate 8 people.
Great view of the mountains, and it has all the things needed for a getaway. Board games, pool table, hot tub, a small barbecue grill, etc.
We took walks along overlook drive, and spotted some beautiful birds including the pileated woodpecker.
The only challenge is that the cell phone signal (I am on t-Mobile) is spotty, and there is no WiFi.
We live in NW Georgia and just wanted to get away so decided on Blue Ridge. Found this cabin on VRBO loved the photos. Cabin was just as described! Pictures did not do it justice! Views were amazing! So quiet and relaxing!! Owner was very responsive for any questions we had!! I would highly recommend this cabin!! We will definitely rent it again!! Thank you!
The cabin was spacious and very comfortable. All the comforts of home plus a hot tub. It was very private and well maintained. The decor was very charming. Can’t wait to go back!
Owner responded quickly to all my messages. Cabin was very easy to get to. GPS brought us right there. I wouldn't drive a car there because how cars are close to ground. Small suv did fine. I feel like the owner should post better pictures of the Outside of cabin. The pictures posted do not show how perfect this house is. Lots of antiques inside. Views from all 3 balconies are amazing and mesmerizing . Only the bottom floor is covered. Would rent again!
Beautiful setting in the mountains. Very peaceful. Amenities were great. Cabin was equipped with everything you need. We would definitely recommend this property.
Perfect cabin for 3 couples and baby! We all had our own private spaces including bathrooms. The open kitchen-living room had plenty of seating for all to enjoy games or tv watching. Loved our time together in this home.
Great location and cozy cabin. The owner's took really good care to provide everything you need in the cabin to make it homey. Kitchen is well stocked with all cooking essentials. The reading library is fantastic. Don't bring a book, they have plenty to choose from. The cabin is very clean. The new dryer stopped working, for some reason, but within hours, the handy man had come up and fixed it. Great service! You will truly enjoy this cabin/ mountain experience. The beds were very firm but we purchased 2 inch gel mattress toppers and left them there for other guests to use. We loved this cabin and hope you do too!
The house is located on the top of a ridge with a beautiful view of the mountains. The gravel road getting to the house can be steep in parts but none of the cars had any trouble getting there. It is remote enough to have peace and quiet while only being a 10 minute drive to downtown Blue Ridge. There is a great deck to hang out on and grill with the view, with the deck below having the hot tub. Great house for a group or family!
We came for son’s 18th birthday with family and friends. The cabin was very spacious and the views were outstanding! We had everything we needed at the cabin, right down to the Marshmellow roasting sticks . We played cards, darts, and pool and watched movies at night in the game room downstairs. It was the perfect family getaway with all the mountains and the river activities. We all wanted to stay longer! Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin where we made lasting family memories!
Fantastic Views, plenty of amenities, lots of hiking and sightseeing around with rafting on the Ocoee nearby. Comfortable, spacious. Loved this cabin. Great for a family getaway or a romantic weekend in, we will definitely be back!
Went for a long weekend with sister and her family and my son and I. There were a lot of both adult and kid activities very close by. The cabin came as advertised. It was spotless and ready for our arrival. There were plenty of games for the kids. We had internet access but no cable tv which is exactly what we did not want during this trip for our kids. The view was as advertised as well. The hot tub with a cocktail and the sunset after hiking and tubing all day was the cherry on top to the end of each day. There are DVD players with a limited selection of kids movies for the night time but we found ourselves distracted by everything else there was to do. Highly recommend this property!!

About the host
Hosted by Ellen Brewer
Our family bought this property around 2012 with the primary objective of hosting large family gatherings. Our family is spread throughout the southern and eastern parts of the country and we knew it would be a place for connection and rejuvenation.
Why they chose this property
Blue Ridge was featured in an article of Southern Living magazine over a decade ago and when we read it, we packed our bags and visited immediately! It was a little gem in the mountains.
What makes this property unique
Magnolia Retreat is special because of its proximity to downtown. When on the mountain, guests will feel like they are far away from businesses, people, and hustle and bustle. However, guests can find all of that within just 7 minutes of leaving the cabin. Also, the view of Magnolia Retreat is a million dollar view. The neighbors have expressed that our place has the best view on the mountain.
