Ripples Cottage, Centrally located in the heart of Mount Desert Island

Ripples Cottage is a newly renovated bright and sunny 3 bedroom home within walking distance to the ever popular Long Pond. This beautifully refurbished cottage has all new appliances, as well as new beds in the master and queen bedrooms. The rooms are very private and each have a different feel; tucked in with a view to the meadow or open and sunny with views to the garden. The great room is a perfect place for family gatherings after a long day of playing in Acadia National Park. Come enjoy a quintessential Maine experience and stay in an ultra quiet haven close to all Mount Desert Island has to offer. New amenities at rates that are competitive with other nearby rentals.

Amenities: A washing machine and dryer are available for use, as is a dishwasher and all kitchen needs. Kids games and puzzles are also available. Enjoy an afternoon beverage on the screened porch or a long hot soak in our claw foot tub after a day of hiking in Acadia.

Bathrooms: Both bathrooms have full tub/shower and storage in vanities.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and return the keys
Please strip beds and leave linens by the washing machine. Start a load of white towels, and if time start dryer.
Please be sure to start the dishwasher if there are any leftover dishes to be cleaned.
Trash pickup is on friday by the roadside. Whatever waste you have left between Fri and Sat checkout please place in bin in garage. Recycling and returnables can be placed in bins in the the garage.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
We do have a chiminea on the brick terrace for your use. Please be sure to clean out ashes and place ashes and unburnt wood ONLY in the metal can.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Ripples Cottage! The location was perfect for our Acadia adventures and the home was comfortable and easy for us and our children. Ripples Cottage was the perfect place for our trip to Acadia National Park. It is very close to everything in Acadia National Park. You can walk to Long Pond and go swimming or rent canoes or kayaks from the business right a cross the street. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need for your stay. The host was very responsive and even stopped by to meet us. I would highly recommend staying at Ripples Cottage.

We had a lovely stay, I loved the location and spread out ability of the property. Having laundry on site was a big plus. Also really appreciated having linens and towels provided since we were traveling from far away. The kitchen was well set up for our needs and the beds were super comfortable!

We enjoyed our week at Ripples Cottage. You can't beat the location, on the quiet side of the island but not far from getting into Bar Harbor and great hikes, carriage roads on the busier side of the island, as well as access to the hiking and swimming on the quiet side. Highly recommend this place.

Quiet Cottage Escape

Ripples was a perfect cottage for our family. Bobbie was an amazing host. She provided everything we could possibly need. The cottage was well stocked with kitchen supplies and towels. The location was very quiet. We enjoyed fires in the evening, and the cottage was very comfortable for our family of 6. We would love to go back the next time we travel to Maine. My family of 4 and my dad stayed at Ripples Cottage for a week and it was a perfect place to stay! It was cozy but spacious. A close drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. On tainy days it there were lots of puzzles and games to play. And we loved sitting ouside at might by the chimenea

Just got back to MD from a great week at Ripples Cottage. Bobbie was a wonderful host. Cottage was clean, comfy, new appliances, and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking. It was in a great spot for accessing all of the island in short drives. We would definitely stay again.

Ripples Cottage was everything we wanted. It was cozy and had all the conveniences we needed. The location was ideal - it was close to the highlights of Acadia and an easy drive into Bar Harbor. Nice week of hiking and enjoying Mt Desert Island

Wonderful stay

Absolutely wonderful. The house is very clean and has all the things we need and then some. It’s obvious that the owner put quite some thoughts to make sure guests have a great stay. Easy to communicate as well. The location is perfect for exploring Acadia NP - both sides of the MDI. We had lots of fun hiking, kayaking, fishing and more.

I moved to Maine 30 years ago, thinking it may be a temporary stay. I never left. Nature is one of the most important things to me and Acadia offers more than I can possibly keep up with in my spare time. In the middle of summer I still am able to hike without seeing another soul, go for a bike ride any time of day, kayak in any number of lakes or coves, and swim at the end of a long day. As a landscape designer I see the beauty of nature and capture that in my work. And for those days when I just want to get away, I find solace in the fact that I can walk out my back door and step into Acadia National Park.

Why they chose this property

My office was located on Mount Desert Island for nearly 9 years. The structure that housed it was previously a seasonal rental and it begged to become 'one' again. I completely renovated the interior, I moved my office to a neighboring town, and Ripples Cottage was reborn. Since then each off season I do more improvements to make your stay more enjoyable each summer. Most recently, I have replaced all the appliances and master bedroom king bed.

What makes this property unique

Ripples Cottage is located on a quiet side street with little traffic. One of the things my family and I love about staying there is the solitude of the space. Being set back from the road even when cars do pass by, we feel protected. We also love the meadow behind the house and woods edge that forms the perimeter of the property. The loons call to each other between the three lakes and the owls serenade us most evenings. It is a true home away from home feeling for us when we have the luxury of staying in our own rental.
