About this property
KinStay Massanutten Family Cabin-Time with Family, Shuffleboard, Mountain Views
We invite you to stay in our newly renovated home with all modern conveniences, including central AC, heat, & high speed WiFi. Our goal is to provide a superbly clean, safe, comfortable stay with access to a multitude of outdoor activities in the Massanutten Four Season Resort. It is perfect for taking time away but still remaining connected through the great mobile phone coverage and 100+Mbps Wifi.
The house has two levels, each with private rooms and living spaces to share with your friends and family. The property backs up to George Washington National Forest with a trail entering the forest. A public fishing lake is a short walk away, while the ski resort and snow tubing are only a four minute drive. Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns are also nearby (<30 minute drive). The resort and our home are family friendly!
The space
We travel often for both work and family vacations with 2 young children, and have tons of experience as guests in VRBOs and hotels. From these experiences, we bought and renovated this home as a full-time vacation rental with all the little details we expect (yet have often found missing in other places). Basically, we created our dream VRBO vacation stay that is suitable for both adults and families with children.
We have lovingly renovated and furnished this house. It is located on a small hill in the heart of the Massanutten Resort with gorgeous views of the mountains and backs up to the George Washington National Forest. You'll wake up to the sunrise illuminating the mountains, then watch the sun slowly fall behind the mountains as night comes.
We are new to hosting but are confident you will enjoy our vacation home. We love escaping to the peace and calm of the Shenandoah Valley. Get comfortable sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the spacious deck enjoying the marvelous views of the tree-lined mountains, or enjoy relaxing in our dual living rooms with large screen TVs. The kitchen is fully stocked with all you’ll need to cook at home.
Kids are always welcome. Just let us know who you're bringing so we can accommodate (need the high chair or pack n' play? Let us know!).
Parking:
The home is on a small hill with an asphalt driveway that will allow you to drive right up to the front door. Three to four cars can park up top. Additional cars may park on the driveway. One car can park at the bottom of the driveway completely off the road, if needed.
Bedrooms:
The house sleeps up to ten people, but is also perfect for a couple who want a quiet getaway.
There are three private bedrooms, all upstairs. The master suite has a beautiful hardwood king size bed with a goose down comforter. The second upstairs bedroom has a Pottery Barn queen bed also with a luxurious goose down comforter. The third bedroom upstairs has two twin beds and a super cute kid-sized easy chair.
On the entry level is a kids playroom with toys and a couch that turns into a queen size bed (pillows and linens are available). Also downstairs is a bonus room with a Pottery Barn queen bed and goose down comforter.
We gladly provide all bed linens and pillows.
Bathrooms:
There are three full bathrooms in the house: one off the master bedroom with a shower, one with a bathtub/shower upstairs, and one with a bathtub/shower downstairs. We provide shower gel, shampoo and towels.
Upstairs Living room:
We like to spread out on the comfy sectional sofa and plush chair. There’s also the nice touch of a hyggekrog in the corner where you can curl up under a blanket and enjoy a good book by the fire. A 65” Ultra High Definition 4k Television with Netflix and other streaming services is there for you to enjoy! Several local channels are available over the antenna as well. A ventless fireplace is available for ambiance and plenty of warmth on chilly days! On the mantle is a Bluetooth speaker you can use with your phone to play music.
Downstairs Living and Game Room:
As you enter the home, you’ll see the 9’ shuffleboard table and downstairs living room with top grain leather reclining sofa, loveseat, and easy chair and a 65” UHD 4k Television. There are plenty of board games, novels, and kids’ books to read.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is fully equipped with an ten person dining table. You’ll have everything you need to cook a meal, bake, or just make coffee + toast and use the microwave for simple reheating. Plus we have a dishwasher for easy clean up. We provide a blender, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, pots, pans, dishes and all utensils.
If you need anything we don’t have, we'll do our very best to accommodate. We provide a lot of "starter stuff" so guests don't have to over-buy for short stays (Canola oil, Olive oil, spices, etc).
Coffee. We love it! So we provide a couple different ways to make coffee. We have a Cuisinart drip machine with a reusable brass filter. Or you can use our French press. We provide coffee, sugar, and powdered creamer. If you bring your own beans, you can use our electric grinder. We also provide different kinds of tea .
Entertainment:
The house has high speed WiFi access. We installed eero wireless mesh routers so the internet reaches to all corners of the deck and around the house. We made sure to get fast broadband for your Internet enjoyment!
Lounge inside to check your email and catch up on videos, or hang out on the deck while researching great local hikes online. Both flat screens have integrated Roku for easy access to streaming services and local channels over the antenna. You can watch unlimited shows and movies on our Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu accounts, or sign in to any of your accounts.
Kid stuff and Amenities:
Because you're probably traveling with enough stuff already, we do have a high chair, step stool, Pack n' Play, and plastic eating dishes and cups for small kids. They are all available in the upstairs closet (high chair, step stool, and Pack ‘n Play) and in the kitchen (dishes).
The home also features a washer and dryer to keep your clothes clean during your stay.
Outdoor Space:
The house has two spacious decks with a views of the mountains. Four Adirondack chairs and side tables allow you to enjoy the view with a tasty beverage. Sunrises and sunsets are priceless.
The yard is fairly steep since the home is on a hill and there is access to the George Washington National Forest from the back yard.
Swimming Pools:
I provide a pass to the Stonewall Terrace Swimming Pools which allows you and your family to swim for $5/person/day Monday-Friday. The Massanutten Resort Indoor/Outdoor Waterpark is undergoing a large renovation in 2020 to add new slides and fun things for your family to enjoy!

Our family loves escape the city and enjoy vacations where we can reconnect with nature and each other! We live in a suburb of Washington DC which can get a little hectic at times - finding time to get away is crucial!
My wife and I have been married for almost 15 years and we have two small kiddos. We love to travel and explore!
My wife and I have been married for almost 15 years and we have two small kiddos. We love to travel and explore!
Why they chose this property
With little kids, it seems like most vacations are with the extended family. Several years ago we took a family vacation, just the four of us, to Massanutten to enjoy time together. We had a fantastic time hiking, visiting the water park, eating together, and just relaxing and enjoying the family.
We decided that having our own place in Massanutten would allow us to enjoy these times more often. We wanted a place that would be large enough to host grandparents and friends but also sized such that we would still spend time together. This house is perfect for us and we hope it's perfect for you as well!

What makes this property unique
Located at the top of Massanutten Resort, the house is close to all the amenities on offer! Skiing, snow and summer tubing, rock climbing, zip lining, swimming pools, mini golf, bumper cars, and other attractions are a short 4-5 minute drive. Venturing a little farther out gets you to the towns of McGaheysville, Harrisonburg, and Elkton for shopping, dining, and antiquing. A little farther out are the world famous Luray Caverns and SkyLine Drive in Shenendoah National Park. Of course you can also just relax in the cabin and enjoy the serenity!
