About this property
Beautiful cottage in stunning location by Loughrigg Fell and close to Ambleside
Ellers Cottage is an attractive cottage nestling in a sheltered position under Loughrigg Fell with a private, sunny garden and views over the Brathay and Langdale valleys. It is very close to the much-photographed Loughrigg Tarn.
The cottage was fully refurbished in 2001 and has a large, open-plan lounge with an inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove, large bay windows overlooking the garden and separate dining area. The kitchen is modern, spacious and well equipped. Also on the ground floor is a w/c and a double bedroom. Upstairs are two further bedrooms (a double and a twin) and main bathroom. The master bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom and balcony overlooking the garden and the lakeland view.
The cottage is tastefully furnished throughout with antique and fitted furniture and natural blue slate flooring. It has the feel of a traditional Lakeland cottage whilst enjoying all modern conveniences and the oil-fired heating system that keeps the cottage cosy and warm no matter what the weather.
Externally the cottage has parking for two cars and a garden with patio furniture. The garden is south-facing, private and sheltered and in good weather it is a warm sun-trap which makes it a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery or birdwatch. The new traditional lakeland fencing which has been locally crafted and installed around the garden perimeter adds to the character and charm of this sunny spot.

About the host
Hosted by David and Rachel Bailey

Ellers Cottage has been 'home from home' for our family for over 30 years and is a very special place that all three generations enjoy. We live in Yorkshire and are frequent visitors to Ellers Cottage where we enjoy fell-walking, sailing on Coniston Water and relaxing in front of the wood-burning stove. It is important to us that guests at Ellers Cottage have a wonderful stay and enjoy the Langdale area as much as we do so we make every attempt to make the cottage welcoming and cosy.
Why they chose this property
Ellers Cottage started life as an agricultural out-building and was first converted to a home in the 1960s. In 2001 it was completely redesigned and rebuilt by our family and made into the beautiful cottage it is today. It retains its traditional Lakeland feel but is now warm and cosy with all mod cons. The location is fabulous with stunning views across the valley and picturesque Loughrigg Tarn is only minutes by foot. This property would suit couples or families alike and there is plenty to do in the area whatever your preferred pass-time.
What makes this property unique
Ellers Cottage is one of just a few properties in the small hamlet of Ellers Brow. The location - near Skelwith Bridge just outside Ambleside - is second-to-none with some of the most famous walks and sights in the Lakes close at hand. Ellers Cottage is beautifully kept and extremely comfortable and the views from the garden across the Brathay and Langdale valleys are stunning. Fields adjoin the pretty garden and deer, buzzards and other wildlife are frequently spotted from the balcony.
