The owners have spared no expense in making this the perfect vacation home right in the middle of Asheville.
The open floor plan is perfect for small gatherings, the many windows give an outside treetop feel to the living space, and you can cozy up to your gas fireplace in the living room.

ALL mountain roads can be steep and dark at times. They may be daunting to an inexperienced mountain driver. The Matterhorn Chalet is located in a quiet mountain subdivision on a circular one-lane road.
Although it's a short road with street lights, it is tight, steep, and curvy. Please try to plan your arrival during the daytime if you are intimidated by mountain roads.
WINTER Please note that we do experience snow on occasion. The HOA does a great job of keeping the roads scraped, but they only scrape after the snow ends. So, please be aware of the weather and know that there is the potential for snowy weather. Please plan accordingly.
PARKING AND MOUNTAIN ROADS Parking space is limited to two vehicles. You can park in the area next to the house walkway or along the fence. Pull the front end of the car into the spots.
The mountain roads are sometimes steep and sometimes curvy. The neighborhood roads are narrow and curvy, so please use extra precautions when driving through there.
No smoking, vaping, or candles.

Wonderful view of the mountains. Kitchen was perfect size for our party of two. Hostess was very responsive. Clean rooms and bathrooms.Parking is a little sketchy and the mattresses were hard in both bedrooms.
We enjoyed our stay with our older dog. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. It was very sad to witness an orange body bag removed from the Chalet below while looking out at the beautiful mountain views. The ceiling fans are a little low for taller people. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
stayed here with my mom on our annual fall trip. the area was beautiful at this time of year, and we loved the house, which was very well-appointed with lots of extra toilet paper, trash bags, and dish soap. i particularly appreciated the grab bars in the bathtub. additionally, the instruction packet the hosts emailed me before our arrival was very helpful in figuring out how to get to the house, as my gps had a bit of trouble distinguishing the small mountain roads. overall, i highly recommend this place, and would definitely stay here again!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Fun location where you feel that you are in a tree house! We enjoyed Asheville shops (Trackside Galleries), waterfall hikes (Catawba), and dining (Lobster Trap). Easy entry to chalet. Lovely kitchen. Lovely updated kitchen, but the rest in need of a refresh and deep cleaning.
Lovely home, well appointed & well supplied, excellent communication with host. Roads were a little tricky, but that was communicated in advance. Highly recommend.
The property was very nice, and as described. Communication and assistance was quick when needed. It was a quick drive to downtown, the arts district, or waterfall hikes. We enjoyed our stay and would come back.
This was the perfect location for exploring Asheville and the nearby Smoky Mountains. We loved everything about the property and would highly recommended to our friends and family.
We stayed here with a couple friends for the weekend and it was perfect! Short Uber or Lyft to downtown and dog friendly. We would definitely stay again!
We rented the property for a three night Billy Strings concert tour stop. It was great to be so close to downtown but the feeling of being in the mountains! Home has everything we needed, it was quiet and comfortable. Would definitely stay again!
Cabin was in beautiful location in the woods. Were delighted to see mama bear and 2 cubs on our last day. Well stocked kitchen. Were disappointed to find wagsher & dryer were across the road, not in our cabin. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would come again!
We loved our stay. The location is incredibly convenient. You’re up on top of a mountain but 5 minutes to downtown. Lots of trees and wildlife (yes, we did see the bears - a mama and 3 cubs!) Also good wifi and enough space to spread out.
I would definitely choose this house again. It was a great fit for our family.
It was a nice place and well equipped. TV did not receive major networks - normally not a big issue but the Olympis

About the host
Hosted by Darlene Witham or Ron Mashburn
Bob and Lynn are from the Blue Grass state of Kentucky. They have visited Asheville for over thirty years. They fell in love with Asheville upon their very first visit.
They always stayed at the same home - Lucerne Chalet. So, when the owner decided to retire and sell the home Bob and Lynn rushed to purchase it.
We at WNC Realty & Rentals were very fortunate to be asked to manage this home as well as the Matterhorn Chalet (also listed here on Vrbo) for them.
Why they chose this property
After many years of owning various homes at the coast Bob and Lynn jumped at the chance to purchase their dream homes - Lucerne and Matterhorn Chalets. They visit Asheville four or five times a year and they say they are sad to have to leave.
What makes this property unique
Location, location, location.... Matterhorn Chalet lets you know that you're safely tucked away in the mountains but you're only a few minutes from everything that downtown Asheville has to offer. The best of both worlds!
