Country Retreat near Dallas: fishing, firepit, fireplace, fall dates available
This quaint, recently renovated farmhouse sits at the end of Farm Lane. The two guest bedrooms with queen beds have French doors that open to a covered porch, where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee overlooking the pond. The Master bedroom has a king bed and French doors, but opens to the back patio where the hot tub sits. Your kids will enjoy climbing the ship ladder into the loft that has five built-in beds and sleeps 7 (2 full-size beds, 3 twin beds). The kids will also enjoy the recently added "stock-tank pool." It is a cattle tank that we converted to a small pool to help our guests cool off in the summer months. The fully furnished kitchen and 2 refrigerators make it easy to prepare meals, and the extended kitchen table and 2 additional bars make it possible to feed 13+ guests in the kitchen. While you are here, enjoy a quiet walk down Farm Lane, or around the 50-acre property (you might even see a few of our neighbors’ peacocks). This house is perfect for a quiet time away with your loved one, or a great place if you have multiple families or a large group! We chose Farm Ln because it was close to family…we made a great choice! Short drives to many amenities and plenty of room for us and for family to visit during the day. Quiet and secluded and perfect for our trip. Thank you!
It was nice quite and peaceful. Check in was super easy and we had no problems. The owner checked in with us and was easy to work with and quick to respond. House was clean and well stockwith dishes and cooking utensils. I would stay here again.
Great get away from the rush of the city. Enjoyed the quiet location and serene setting. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, silver ware and appliances that allowed for easy cooking at home. The games were fun, my girls especially loved the checkers table. Thanks again!
This our 2nd time renting this property, and it is so peaceful. Danielle is so easy to work with, and really goes above & beyond to accommodate her guests. We were glad to have the privilege of experiencing the peaceful serenity of this property twice. Thanks Danielle!!
It was such a wonderful property and super convenient to the Rockwall Castle Wedding Venue!!Make sure to note that the loft is accessed by ladder! We had some mobility limited individuals that made figuring out who was sleeping where a bit complicated.
This was our second holiday stay at this house. The kids love the loft. The kitchen and dining areas were spacious enough to accommodate all our meals together (eight adults and 3 kids). Plenty of room for the varied activities of our group: games, puzzles, fishing at the pond, but slow internet speed made watching movies difficult at times. Cozy fires in the fireplace were a plus. We had a lovely peaceful time and Danielle, our hostess, was very quick to help with any question we had. Highly recommend!
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home. We loved the country setting, yet being so close to shopping and restaurants. The home is beautifully decorated and comfortable. We had cooler weather, so we enjoyed the hot tub several times throughout the week, and took walks along the gravel driveway leading up to the house from the main road. Our beds were comfy, and we loved the openness of the kitchen area and living room. This retreat was just the respite we needed from work/school and city life in the 'burbs. Thank you for sharing your property with us. We will definitely be back!
Nothing but praises for this peaceful setting! Beautiful home with the best front porch overlooking a rolling lawn to this darling pond. What a view! Hard to imagine how close it was to town and having such a peaceful country atmosphere! Nature sounds especially at night were extraordinary and we loved the fireflies with background sounds of the peacocks off in the distance. The Host was just the best! Definitely worth every dime…we will be back!
We LOVED our stay at Danielle’s home! It was spacious, light, comfortable, and sooo private! Being surrounded by the beautiful green pastures and trees was so nourishing and it was a great place to land back after spending a day or evening out in Dallas. But our very best day was the day we didn’t go anywhere and just enjoyed the natural beauty and the spectacle of the total eclipse! Sitting on the back porch and strumming guitars while listening to the frogs and looking at the pond was another distinct highlight! The hot tub was a delicious bonus! Danielle was an incredibly responsive and helpful host.,I cannot say enough good things about our stay!!
We enjoyed this property over 4 days including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Our family included 4 households and the house was sufficient for our sleeping arrangements. The kids particularly enjoyed the loft and the ladder that provided entry to that space. The owners were very up front about a few quirks of the house due to foundation issues, none of which diminished the comfort of the house. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious and we enjoyed all of our family meals together comfortably. The owners were great with their communication. Highly recommend.
We were happy with the location of the farm house -it was very private- and the fact that we were able to bring our dog. The house was pleasant and nicely decorated. The two things we were most concerned about is the landscaping. It is extremely difficult to navigate especially when we came home after dark. Safety is a pretty huge issue. Another thing we had a problem with was various insects - wasps in the loft, moths and our granddaughter even found a scorpion on top of her suitcase that was sitting on the floor.

Thank you for your review and insight. We do have a quarterly pest service. I asked him to come back out to spray for wasps and scorpions. Per his report, there are no active nests, all of the eves and areas inside and outside the house have been treated (which should take care of any scorpions).
Although the house is just a few miles from the city, it does sit in the country, with a pond, and on 50-acres so it will never been completely void of bugs or critters.
the host was wonderful about answering my many questions about items available in the house. We were traveling a long distance and we needed to know what we needed to bring with us. Only problem was a difference in what VRBO said the payment was and what we had agreed upon. We scheduled for 5 days and the VRBO bill kept saying 5 days plus an additional night. I talked with 3 different people at VRBO with no success. I gave up.
We have taken many trips, staying in many vacation homes over the years. From the minute we booked, Danielle reached out & was just so attentive. They have taken time & thought to incorporate every wonderful thing you may have enjoyed from other vacation homes & made sure anything you might have forgotten or needed was available. This home is VERY WELL maintained, the layout was perfect for family gatherings. My husband even left some clothes in what he thought was a laundry shoot…and she thoughtfully reached out to let us know. The home is fresh, clean, open & the property is truly so peaceful…it truly is soothing to the soul. Everything was above & beyond our expectations. Danielle & Kurt….thank you for being the most amazing hosts and for sharing your slice of heaven with our family ❤️

The place was nice until we were going to put a pizza in the oven. It was nasty we had to clean it. The doors didn’t close much less lock so no privacy. Then of course the kids were in the attic and the door comes down and slams on my nephews head. Not happy about that. That needs to be more secure. Needles to stay not staying there in the future.

Thank you for your feedback on the house. I apologize for the issues you had with the doors. The Farmhouse has had ongoing issues with the foundation, and we recently had several of the interior doors adjusted to close properly. The contractor will be coming out this week to adjust the doors once again. Regarding the hatch to the loft, there is a chain that attaches to the full bed next to it to keep it from slamming shut. It’s pretty difficult for young children to unhook, but I will definitely look into it.

What an amazing little hideaway in the country close to the city!
God directed me to this little place when I was at my wits end about where to have our wedding that was convenient, practical and didn’t cost a fortune. Having a place you can stay and have your event with no running back and forth or hassles is bar none the best thing ever. The out door space is so perfect just like our wedding day. The caters had access to the kitchen to setup on the other side of the house while the wedding was happening on the other side.
The house is laid out beautifully.
The living room area is so spacious that with the small crowd I did have everything ran smoothly.
The Bedrooms are perfect and they all have french doors to lead out to a patio. My grandchildren loved the loft space upstairs. Everyone’s stay was so enjoyable. After the wedding I had to give some of my guest a tour of the whole house because they want to book it.
The cute cows in the back field had to come watch the event as well.
It is a pleasure are a pleasure to work with. Thank you so much and we look forward to coming back just to relax!
My wife and I decided to use this property for our wedding ceremony. While others wanted to charge us a minimum of 3,000 extra to host the wedding Danielle only wanted 500 for the 20 guests. She allowed me to view the property ahead of time to make plans and openly communicated and advised on how others have used the property. The property itself was top notch, each bedroom except for the loft has door leading outside. The living room was absolutely amazing and fit our 20 guests without any issue. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials, coffee makers, blender, crock pot, and all other standard equipment. You can hear the sound of farm animals all around, from chickens, to peacocks, cows to donkeys. One small complaint was the sound of a dog pound heard in far distance, but it was barely audible and only noticeable when it's very quiet. One night we stayed there was a pretty rough storm, the next morning we found a branch broken from a tree and fallen into the yard. We notified Danielle and she offered to remove it imminently, but we let her know it wasn't needed and could wait. She was willing and ready to act at any request.Great home, Great host. Thank you!
