Killington, Vermont Ski House w/ Hot Tub and Sauna
Our custom built home is located in Killington on an acre of land, on a paved town road with other vacation homes. It was designed with an eye to openness in the living areas, and people are impressed by how spacious it truly is. A second story has been added to make it bigger and even better. In November, 2018 the entire house was repainted inside, and all the carpeting was been replaced. It looks really great!
Our house has a large kitchen-dining area on the first floor with a 24' cathedral ceiling, along with 2 BRs, 1 &1/2 baths, an indoor sauna, a shower room for two and a Vermont Castings wood stove. A 'sun burst' pattern of antique skis & bamboo poles is displayed on one wall, with more antique skis and snowshoes displayed on other walls. The second floor has a bedroom, full bath, a living area which extends the length of the house (40') and includes a sleeping alcove with a Murphy (queen) bed. There are two sofas, several chairs & a recliner as well. The living area affords a winter view of the Green Mountains beyond the trees. A sliding glass door exits onto a large deck with a new and larger hot tub, which descends to another deck facing the woods that has a dining table for eight. The living area extends 17' into the house to a balcony overlooking the dining area. To keep our rates down, the rental does not include sheets, pillow cases or towels. Blankets and pillows are provided. IMPORTANT: We do not accept Saturday arrivals or departures, as they would break up weekend rentals. There is a 5 night rental minimum for New Year's 12'27-1/1.

The house was spacious and only a 5 minute drive to the K-1 lodge. We were there for a snowboarding trip so the hot tub was our favorite spot at the end of the day. The wood stove was also really nice, and the kitchen was well equipped. Would definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful stay! We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. The bath rooms have plenty of shampoo/conditioner left from other visiter but make sure to bring your own sheets and towels.
The host was friendly and very welcoming. We had an exceptional time, enjoying the sauna and hot tub, great location, clean and very comfortable. Kris Stensland
Thano’s place was incredible. It was even more spacious inside than it seemed in photos and the amenities were amazing. Between the location to the mountains, the hot tub/sauna, and space inside, this is a steal!

We're always happy when people enjoy our Killington home!
Great stay at this house, everything worked and we had no problems. Instructions provided were very clear, and house had everything we wanted. It was also quite warm, nice during the cold winter. House was ok clean (but not spotless) and some areas could use updating…but it was fine for us (two couples with kids) and def agree with other reviews, house feels bigger than it looks in the photos! Overall a great stay, would come again.
Hot tub was great, and kitchen had everything we needed. House has a bit of a strange smell sometimes though, and the shower head in the bathroom downstairs really needs to be replaced.
The property was as described, and we really enjoyed the amenities including the hot tub and sauna. Neighborhood was quiet and the home felt peaceful and secluded. Very easy access to the Killington resort. The place was clean when we arrived except for the dishwasher, which had been run but the previous guests had put cast iron pans in it, caked heavily in burnt eggs. Rust had started to form. This was not the fault of the host, who kindly refunded the cleaning fee, but rather was due to inconsiderate previous guests.
Great location minutes from the mountain and all restaurants nearby. Our 2nd year staying here as a group of 8. Plenty of room to sleep and hang out in different areas. Hot tub and sauna are a real bonus for the price
Couldn't ask for a better place to stay with a group. Plenty of space and amenities and easy access to the mt and the access road. The owner did an outstanding job with communications and directions for various things in the house.
House has all the amenities - hot tub, sauna, wood stove, etc. Owner is very responsive and the house was clean with a great layout. Upstairs loft with great views!
We had a wonderful time skiing and ringing in the new year here. The location is perfect, the hot tub and sauna are so cozy, and the place was very spacious and easily fit 10 of us. We would definitely come back!Only thing to note, which is listed in the information sheet provided by the owner, is that the hot water in the winter smells like sulfur. We found the smell didn’t really go away throughout our several day stay and made the showers a bit smelly! But, overall fantastic stay.
Classic Ski house most beds very comfortable, well equipped for a ski week.
Driveway is challenging but OK with AWD - we did have a snowtired FWD do ok - but we also had lots of snow
Owner very responsive and this is a home I would recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Thano Schoppel
I am a retired teacher, and my wife is a retired nurse/Lamaze instructor. We live in a small village in Rockland County, New York. We are both very active in our community, and continue to work part time.
Why they chose this property
We bought the land in 1968, and built our house in 1979, adding a second story in 2004 to accommodate our growing family. We have three grown children and seven grandchildren, and our Vermont home acts as a gathering point several times a year when we all get together to ski and relax. We have many repeat renters who love our Killington home, and return year after year. They enjoy the amenities that our house has to offer, and its location- private, yet just a few minutes from the slopes and Killington's night life.
What makes this property unique
What sets our Killington home apart from most others is the incredible spaciousness of the living areas.
