Thank you, Virginia. We’re pleased you enjoyed our home’s well-equipped kitchen, easy wifi login, and comfortable beds. We look forward to you returning for another great stay at our lakefront retreat!
Great location over looking the lake--- house was lovely--- Sharon was always helpful & provides so many little extras that makes your stay even nicer.
We had a great time the amenities were great, pool table, corn hole and kayaks and the ease of contacting owners with questions or concerns. The only down side was the limited internet connections but that did not deter a great week

Thank you so much for staying at our home...and for the review. We greatly appreciate it.
We had our internet checked after you departed on July 16th, so we appreciate you giving us a heads up about it during your stay. The provider had a technical problem, so we're glad they were able to fix it as the internet is working well now.
Thanks again!
What a wonderful place to stay. For being on the main lake, the small cove is just enough to keep the water calm. Very quiet and peaceful! We thoroughly loved our whole week we were there. Thank you Sharon for letting us borrow your beautiful home for our vacation! We will always remember all the good times and memories we made!
This home was above and beyond our expectations! Beautifully located right on the lake. The home is well stocked with everything anyone could ever need! We enjoyed putting together puzzles as a family, kayaking on the lake, fishing and we all greatly improved our ping pong game. We would definitely choose to stay here again!
We had a lovely relaxing week at this lake house. It was a super quiet lake and neighborhood and the house came with plenty of toys (kayaks, fishing gear, floats, fire pit, pool table goose ball table, exercise equipment, games, books, etc) so everyone could enjoy the fun. Deer brought their babies by every evening to feed and the sunrises were spectacular.
We loved our relaxing week at this picturesque property. Relaxing mornings taking in the view from the large screened in porch, afternoons of fishing and kayaking, game nights, and family dinners grilling out. Plenty of room for our group of 9.
I have been renting from VBRO for years in different locations and this house had EVERYTHING you could ever think of....from beach towels, wine openers, shower supplies to s'more sticks to use. Communication with the owner was phenomenal. My parents, sister and her kids, and my kid and I had a relaxing time.
We highly recommend this house. Carl and Sharon have thought of every detail. Beautiful house right off the main lake, fully stocked kitchen, games, firewood, fishing gear…the list is endless. They are extremely responsive and care about their home. Will gladly rent again!

It was a pleasure having you all stay in our home. Thanks so much for your nice words and for being great guests. We look forward to welcoming you back for a visit anytime! PS...we're still impressed with the catfish photos you sent our way!
Thoughtfully equipped house for a quiet family getaway
We loved our stay here. The house feels lived in not just rented out. It’s a remote area so we were grateful for the full kitchen (dishes, incl kids dishes, plus cooking equipment and grilling utensils) and plenty of fun board games. With a mix of kids’ ages (1-7) we felt at home in this house. Easy communication. The screened sunroom is awesome. I could imagine staying here in summer or winter and being very happy. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful lakefront property. The house was well-stocked with many amenities. We felt very comfortable here.
The sunrises were amazing and we loved the wildlife - deer, lots of birds, and early morning otters.
Coffee on the screened porch every morning was the best! We enjoyed taking the kayaks out in the cove, too. We loved a little taste of lake life! We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed the house, it was beautiful. The view of the lake was breathtaking and the bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen and pantry was filled with anything we needed to make our stay more enjoyable. I planned to fish while at the house, but fishing from the boat dock was a little difficult for throwing your line. The tv's were not easy to figure out because we were not familiar with ROKU. Overall, we loved the house and did not want to leave the peace and quiet!

My family stayed at this property for Thanksgiving week (Nov 2021). It is an absolutely stunning property. The kitchen is heavily stocked for cooking and entertaining. The property owners are wonderful to communicate with, they communicated everything to us and stayed in touch to make sure we were doing okay.
The home has a wonderful view of Lake Gaston, just off a little cove. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. We rented a boat but the cold weather didn't allow us to take in all the beauty that Lake Gaston has to offer. We did make a day trip over to the Kerr Lake hydroelectric dam and walked the beaches there (highly recommend).
The home has room for adults and kids to spread out in. We enjoyed afternoon fires with marshmallows and evenings playing Foosball, Billards, and watching movies. The basement is a kid friendly layer with double bunk beds and lots of games to entertain.
We are looking forward to renting this property again over the summer to enjoy all the beauty of Lake Gaston.
Thanks Carl and Sharon for a wonderful week!

Hi Christopher,
Thanks so much for the nice words and for being incredible guests. We're truly happy to hear you and your family enjoyed the house and your time together over Thanksgiving. We look forward to having you back when the weather warms up. Take care and Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Sharon and Carl
We had the best week with our Family at this property. The neighbors were so helpful on giving us some info about the Lake and nearest Boat Dock. The game room was wonderful for all of our kids and their friends that we brought with us. We spent every night playing pool with lots of laughs and fun. We woke up every morning and enjoyed the peace and quiet on the screened in porch. We were able to figure out a way to bring our boat to the Dock and enjoy the lake several days. It was also a blessing to have all the Kayaks for us to go out and enjoy the Lake. It was also very nice to not have to take steps down to the water like some other houses on the Lake. We were able to see so much wildlife like the pack of Deer and Baby Fawns that we saw on a daily basis, Blue Herons, Cranes, Fish, Rabbits, Eagles and Hummingbirds. We loved all the windows and the view of the Lake from the living room and decks. The only thing that we would say is that the beds were not much to our liking. They were all too hard for our preference but that is a personal preference for us. This is certainly a wonderful property to stay at for the week and the owner was great in her communications.
The pros: the house is gorgeous and has plenty of space for a family. The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need including spices, cooking spray, first aid supplies, hand soap in the bathrooms, a welcome bag of coffee, ziploc bags and trash bags! There are tons of games and puzzles to entertain on a rainy day. The screened in porch is nice. The yard is fairly level.Things I wish we had known- the water is very, very shallow. It’s more like 24-36 inches with a foot of slimy mud. If you had visions of jumping off the dock that isn’t happening. On our visit the dock ladder was rusted out and my son’s foot went through it on Saturday night (our first night) and unfortunately a new ladder was not available during our stay. This made getting in and out of the water very difficult unless you wanted to walk through the mud. The neighbors are weekend lake house people and very territorial about the water and being in the way of their boat getting in and out. The house had just had the exterminator in and there were huge dead bugs that looked like roaches but I don’t think they were all over the house. The basement had lots of little flies, daddy long legs and a spider so big we named him tarantula. I didn’t mention the bugs to the owners until we left in their defense. Overall we had a nice time boating on the lake which was fairly empty and spending time together.

Thank you for your review. We’re pleased you enjoyed our 9.8-rated home’s spacious design, well-stocked amenities, screened porch, and level yard—perfect for family fun and boating on our serene lake.
To enhance your stay, we proactively offered early check-in, which was accepted, provided a $100 refund for the dock ladder delayed repair, and suggested wading a short distance to the kayak entry area for safe water access. The lake’s natural 42-inch depth near the dock transitions to deeper water just 50 feet out, ideal for swimming and enjoying our three kayaks and numerous flotation items. The ladder arrived after your stay, and we had it changed early the next morning to ensure full dock access for future guests.
Our exterminator serviced the property before your arrival, and we’ve scheduled a follow-up to maintain a comfortable environment. We encourage guests to report issues during their stay for prompt resolution.
Our vibrant lake community, with two neighboring docks and three of four homes being rentals, thrives on friendly cooperation, with boaters and lake users communicating to ensure safety for all.
After your stay, we found the front door of the house unlocked, as well as the storage cabinet, posing safety and liability concerns. Additionally, we had to discard a damaged comforter and towels due to irreparable stains, and our cleaners had extensive kitchen and bathroom cleanup. We’ve addressed these issues to welcome future guests for unforgettable memories at our lakefront retreat!
Our family of five enjoyed our stay here. We could have easily shared this house with another family. The home is very clean and organized. We loved the screened in 2nd story porch and sitting out here with a cup of coffee in the morning watching the sunrise over the lake while bird watching was so relaxing. Our teenagers had a great time taking out the kayaks, while our younger son enjoyed fishing off the dock. The dock is in a great place for fishing as there are plenty of weeds and grass surrounding it where the fish like to hang but this makes it not very inviting to want to jump in and swim here. It is also located in a tight inlet area so if you are not an experienced boater you might have a little difficulty with a boat. This house is located on a lower lying area of land surrounding the lake so there are not 75 steps/stairs down to reach the dock, in fact there are none from the driveway to the lake just a very slight slope. The house itself does have 3 levels so there are stairs inside. Oh one other thing the house is located off a gravel road. We had family staying about a mile north of us off this same road so we brought our kids scooters all the way from south FL so the kids could ride from one house to the other but the scooters were obviously useless on gravel. The homeowner was very easy to reach and got back to us quickly with any concerns we may have had.

Thanks so much for the review! We're glad you all enjoyed your stay and time at Lake Gaston. Kayaking, fishing off the dock and watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee on the screened in porch are some of our favorites too! Thanks also for letting us know how we can better describe our property to guests. We appreciate it and look forward to having your family visit us again : )
Sharon was an amazing host. She provided information about the area and had a very helpful manual with everything you’d need to know about her home. The house was spacious, well-stocked, and right on the lake. My family had a great week. Thanks for the memories!
Loved it, very beautiful & peaceful area. Owner very fast to respond to any questions, gave some info on surrounding areas, house was awesome, very spotless inside the outside & screen porch could use a good spray down. But over all would definitely stay there again.. Highly recommend this house.
Only six of our family made it to our vacation getaway (ages ranging 80s down to 20s) but I assure you there was plenty of room for more. We spent most of our time on the screened in porch and out on the lake in our kayaks but there was a large family room downstairs that I would think would be used by younger families. The views of the lake were the best we've seen. You could literally see the lake from almost every room in the house. We saw deer, herons, osprey and bluebirds daily. The house was also well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen. We hope to return for another relaxing getaway in the future. A big thanks to Sharon for answering all of our questions before and during our stay.
