Great location! We loved being able to walk right onto Salamander run. We had a small issue with the door code on check-in, but they sent someone over within minutes to fix it. The house is smaller than it appears in the photos, but it still felt comfortable with our group of 10.
Nice location. Decent house. You have to drive your own trash about 3 miles away, which is odd for an expensive place. They need to pay for trash service, we saw other adjacent places with commercial trash cans.
Great location nearly slopeside and walkable to lodge and lift. Slightly dated but great setup with casual comfort and everything you could need including large hot tub and great deck for star gazing.

Thank you for your stay. We hope you will return soon to Canaan Valley!
Property was very nice and would stay here again, the only thing is there's nothing to do in the summer, every thing is to far away and nothing extra at the house

Are stay was nice! The house had a lot of cobwebs the refrigerator was gross inside with mold..the grill grease trap had not been clean in forever and luckily we was right there or the whole house would have caught fire…upstairs toilet seat was broke and the towel hanger coming off the wall also the 3rd floor shower did not drain…loved that the house was pet friendly
The house was very nice but I feel like the pictures showed the house out of context. It is located in a convenient area with close access to everything, but very close to other houses. Also the house, while being to sleep 12 people, was very small. The pictures led us to believe that we had a lot of room. Oh well, I can’t complain about the area though! It’s one of my favorite places in the world and we were with great people!

Thank you for your stay. We hope you will return soon to Canaan Valley!
Great experience renting and staying. Some items such as light switches, gas heater, hot tub cover, seating, and kitchen appliances were showing their age and did not always function as expected or without special effort. Great for young kids learning to ski on the nearby bunny hill.
This was the best find ever! It is a few steps away from the slopes which makes it super convenient. The cabin itself was super comfortable and fit all of us- 5 adults and 2 kids. I would rent it again in any time!
The Location of the property is in a ski resort area - note this cabin is SURROUNDED by other homes. We went off season so there were not a lot of people around. Overall the place was clean on the surface but no deep cleaning was done - windows smudges dead flies in spider webs on blinds, dust under sofa ect. The provided linens were nice and fluffy. Bed were extremely uncomfortable like sleeping on a hard bed spring almost there was absolutely no cushion what so ever. Also the hot tub wasn't working which was super disappointing bc we had last minute switched to this place specifically bc our other rental had a non working hot tub. I had specifically reached out to the host to make sure the hot tube was working and then we showed up and it wasn't.
We enjoyed our stay at this property very much. We were able to meet all of our adult children in Davis at this house. In general the house was clean and comfortable but it had a few quirks. For instance some of the windows don’t stay open and they need to be propped open with cutting boards pans or whatever. However we loved the area and found lots to do. We especially liked being able to bring our dog along with us. We would consider staying here Again.

Bittersweet Mountain Retreat
Beautiful area. Good housing. Great hiking. The lake was a pond, still nice but really a bit of a selling point and not so practical in reality. No A/C in the summer could be problematic. Hot in the upper floors. Hot tub was actually cold. Control panel didn't function properly.
Excellent location. Hot tub was perfect for the cool evenings. Our family stays in a different house every year but next year we will definitely be back to uncle wades!
We rented this place to get family together - our daughter from Ohio and our son from Virginia with spouses and children. Basically everyone got their own floor and bathroom in the house. It was a perfect layout.
The kitchen has limited counter space and the one burner on the stove is wonky, but otherwise well equipped to cook all week.
There is a washer and dryer - but it seems the dryer takes a long time to dry. You'll have to run it a few times.
The house is in a little Cul-de-sac and in a normally quiet area. Unfortunately, they were putting a new roof on a house next door and we were awakened several mornings by sawing and hammering (7 and 8am).
We saw several deer and even a bear in the area - so very cool. The kids enjoyed the little "creek" in the back and we had campfires every night. Use of Mirror "Lake" was nice - kids enjoyed kayaking, etc. (Was a little surprised to see how small it was, but it worked for our little kiddos).
We would stay there again - a few restaurants in town, petting zoo and gold mining for the kis as well. Hiking trails and a pool at the resort.
The deck has a board that is raised up and can be an issue. It was mentioned here before and I am surprised it is still not fixed. Seems it would be an easy fix.
The hot tub was nice - and yes, the control pad is a little wonky, but works well enough. The property management also came to clean it while we were there.
The only upgrade that would be welcomed - new furniture (couches) and carpet. they were pretty grungy.

Ok but could use some updating
Overall place was good. We stayed over memorial weekend in 2021 and the weather was cool. We enjoyed using the Hot tub which was ready to use and clean. The firepit and the small run off creek babbling along in the back was nice. Inside, the place could use a little more attention to deep cleaning and I don't mean by the maid staff. Some of the walls are getting stained and felt a bit too dirty. The fireplace didn't work for us. FWIW, I didn't call to ask about it as we were only there 3 days. The kitchen can use some updating especially a new set of pots / pans. The ones there are in pretty poor shape. If you pan to cook (convenient local restaurants were not really a thing while we were there) and are particular as to not want already burned on pans.. bring your own! They have a nice giant connect four and Jenga sets in the first floor area we also had fun with. If you are a there for skiing during the winter I can say the location would be great as its right off the bottom part of the slopes. Seemed that easy access to skiing on / off slopes but we weren't there in the winter. Overall we had a fun weekend for our family of 6 but if we return to area I would not aim to stay in this house again.
We had a great time in this house. It is large, comfortable, and it was very clean. We enjoyed the fire pit and the hot tub, although the buttons on the hot tub seemed to be misaligned. The wifi worked well. My only complaint was the walls seemed thin - you could hear everything.
Myself and a group of friends had a lovely time at this property. The house is large, comfortable, and clean. The property isn’t quite ski in ski out but it is very close to. The hot tub at night is perfect, but note that the controls don’t quite work. All in all I would definitely recommend this property for a group looking to ski!
