Terra Loft is a holiday rental that sleeps 6 people. Perched on the Sombernonne hill, you’ll enjoy a superb view of the valley.
We’ve tried to breathe new life into the vaulted cellar of this 100-square-meter former tavern, giving it a loft-style feel while preserving its historic charm (the magnificent spiral staircase, exposed beams, stonework, and more).

A quick guided tour:
The cottage is located on the lower levels of the building we live in. The semi-underground layout of your accommodation will undoubtedly keep you pleasantly cool during hot weather.
Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed into the kitchen-dining area, centred around the bread oven from the old tavern. From there, you’ll have access to a charming bathroom with a shower, an antique sink, and a dry toilet that we built ourselves.
The dining room also provides access to the sleeping area, located on the mezzanine. Comfortable beds and storage space await you there.
Finally, the lowest level of the house welcomes you into a spacious living area that, we hope, will transport you to the rural world of Sombernon: a display of antique books and a few objects, collected here and there...

Bath towels, tea towels, dish soap, and eco-friendly cleaning products are provided. For young children, a travel cot, toilet seat adapter, potty, and toilet seat reducer are also available upon request. Cleaning and disinfection are carried out with the utmost care.

A private outdoor area, accessible via two entrances, allows you to enjoy your meals in a covered, shaded space with a view of the valley.

We also invite you to explore our mini-vegetable gardens as the seasons change. The separate orchard and vegetable garden are also freely accessible. You’ll have access to fruits and vegetables from the garden and eggs from the chicken coop to enhance your meals. The surrounding biodiversity will let you discover the wonderful birds that cheerfully enliven our days and the multitude of edible plants that grow naturally all around us.
For your little ones, a play area and a treehouse are available, and for older children, a ping-pong table will liven up your stay.

The spirit of this place is one of sharing and a return to simplicity, focused on more environmentally friendly tourism. Although the current health situation doesn’t really lend itself to it, we are committed to promoting the values of solidarity and sharing, drawing inspiration more recently from the principles of permaculture.
We aspire to a form of tourism focused on sharing our resources (fruits, vegetables, eggs) but also, where possible, our experiences, while respecting everyone’s privacy and consent.
We also wish to highlight Burgundy’s heritage, particularly that of rural life (preserving historic buildings, displaying our old, forgotten objects).
Finally, through this project, in our own small way, we hope to promote the local businesses in the town and neighbouring villages (an art gallery located 300 metres from the cottage, a wine shop that recently opened in Sombernon, bakeries and a butcher shop located 500 metres from the house, and restaurants in the village...).

Things to Do and Discover:
The town of Sombernon is situated at the crossroads of a region marked by several centuries of history and at the gateway to the Route des Grands Crus.

Cultural tours:
- Tour of the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy
- Tour of the wine route to enjoy Burgundy’s rich heritage and gastronomy.
- Tour of Beaune (Hospices de Beaune, city walls, Museum of Fine Arts...)
- Tour of picturesque villages such as Semur-en-Auxois, Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, Châteauneuf…
- Tour of castles (ten listed castles within 15 km…)
- Visit the Gallo-Roman site of Alésia, located 30 minutes from the house
- Visit the PAPOTTE Museum (Museum of Rural Life), run by a nonprofit organisation—absolutely exceptional!!!

Culinary tours:
- Fruirouge Farm (Traditional production using fruit grown on the farm and processed on-site)
- Burgundy Wine Museum
- Fallot Mustard Factory—Thrill Seeker’s Experience (Discover traditional mustard-making methods)
-
