About this property

An old style vintage Florida home centrally located in the art district

This is where you want to be! Gulfport's charm evokes a sense of Old Florida with its quaint vintage homes and the genuineness of its residents. It's an eclectic, laid back, welcoming community. We are thrilled to share this vintage home with you in the Art District walking distance to everything Gulfport has to offer within a few blocks but cozy and quiet enough that you don't need to leave to experience an oasis with your own solar heated pool and private backyard.

The space: We look forward to hosting you and your 25lb or under furry dog friend to enjoy our two bedroom, one bath, updated home with modern fixtures and appliances. Each bedroom has a queen bed allowing the home to perfectly host two couples but small enough to feel cozy as a single. The living room is a space designed for lounging and conversation as is the additional room which is a dining space and conversation area. There is a television with a fire stick streaming in the living room and large bedroom. The bathroom is shower only, easy to step in and out without issue. There is a shower handle bar for those who feel they need the security. Experience outdoor living in the screened in patio-pool area; the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee, lunch or a nightcap in a well-manicured, landscaped yard offering mature tropical trees surrounded by a privacy fence.

The kitchen has everything you need to start your day with a drip Black+Decker coffee maker, a DeLonghi double shot espresso maker, a kettle, and a toaster. Of course, it also includes pots and pans plus other kitchen staples to make meals at home. We often have a supply of a variety of teas available for your use. There is a grill kept in the garage that can easily be brought out to the uncovered portion of the patio. Please use the provided copper grill mats.

You can pack lightly because there is a washer and dryer in the garage. In the garage you will also find beach chairs. Of course, beach towels are offered in the linen closet in the home. We like to take advantage of the natural shade provided by the Australian pines that are just west of the beach volleyball court.

What to do in Gulfport: Of course, enjoy the beach on Boca Ciega Bay with the Don Cesar across the bay and catch some rays or watch the sunset. Walk out on Williams Pier and stroll the waterfront; you’re likely to see a dolphin or two. You’re within a 10 minute walk! If kayaks or sailboats are your thing, check out the marina which also has beautiful views of boats on the bay. There are beautiful views overlooking the bay from Clam Bayou Nature Park. This park is also a destination for birders. From the house, you're two blocks from Stella's, the most popular spot to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. Take advantage of it and enjoy a Mimosa. They actually know how to poach an egg! Your house is also 2 blocks from Gulfport Corner Store store owned by Eddie. You can find snacks, drinks, some toiletries and they're adding more. You're also two blocks from Sumitra coffee shop where you can support local coffee and enjoy a CBD treat. If this isn’t your thing, walk a block further south on Beach Blvd and try Gulfperk, another local coffee shop (try the rum cake, it’s incredible). Enjoy award winning craft brews and food at the Gulfport Brewery. The Brewery also runs a wine bar called the Wine House . Happy hour is a great deal! Also, walking distance on Beach Blvd, Pia's offers classic Italian dishes loved by visitors and locals alike. The Golden Dinosaur gives you vegan options both comfort foods like their Cuban or healthier choices like salads. If you want to look at the water while dining or having a cocktail, go to Shore Blvd and check out O’maddy’s for classic pub food. Also, on Shore Blvd is Tikis and Greek food at Neptune’s. The Beach Bazar is a great shop to stop in for fun souvenirs. My favorite evening activity in Gulfport, put your dancing shoes on for a real deal 30's dance hall at the Gulfport Casino on Boca Ciega Bay. They have dance nights a few nights a week with an hour lesson before dancing begins. Old styles like swing and ballroom are just as much fun to watch with a beer or wine.

Gulfport hosts fantastic festivals and outdoor events that really allow you to fall in love and take in the charming, laid back vibe of the community. Take part in this by visiting the outdoor Fresh Market every Tuesday offering produce, food options, and artists. Gulfport Art and Gallery Walk is on the first Friday and third Saturday each month, as well. There are other festivals during the year, too: July 4th is loved by locals and visitors. This year, for the first time, we offered the Gulfport Peace, Love and Pride Festival at the Gulfport Casino.

What to do near Gulfport: If you’re restless and need a city vibe, downtown St. Pete is a 10 minute drive and offers restaurants and artists' boutiques along the Central Avenue corridor. The third incarnation of the St Petersburg Pier has opened! The Salvador Dali Museum is always worth a visit. St. Pete Beach is a 10 minute drive, as well. If you want to explore another laid back beach community, check out Pass-a-grille which is a 20 minute drive. The Brass Monkey has a wonderful view of the Gulf of Mexico overlooking the beach. Pass-a-grille is a wonderful place to grab an ice cream cone and collect shells. This community has a New England vibe. Fort DeSoto is a State Park with its north beach having been listed as the Top Beach in the United States.

Gulfport and our home is a hidden gem that we're excited to share with you!

Cutest little bungalow with private pool!
Easy to find, easy to communicate with owners. This place is very close to the beaches and walkable to the historic district of Gulfport with many nice restaurants. Owners left detailed information and it’s a very quiet neighborhood. I would highly recommend! Thanks 😊

Birdhouse Bungalow Paradise
Traveled to this lovely Gulfport home to help my son move back into college. Amanda & Tom went above & beyond to work with me when an unexpected illness caused a need to change dates of stay. Pictures don’t do this tastefully decorated home justice. Walking into town and relaxing in the screened-in pool were highlights of my stay. I truly felt fortunate to call this home for the last few weeks and I’m missing it already!

About the host

Tom grew up in Florida; Gulfport, specifically. He never saw snow until he visited family outside the state as a teen. After graduating from the University of Florida, he finally left to pursue a graduate degree from Virginia Tech starting a life for the first time away from the sunshine state. Over 30 years later, in 2015, he brought his new partner, me, Amanda, who avoids the sun and the water religiously, back to his hometown and unexpectedly, I fell in love. We started returning every year, and then twice or three times a year. Each time, I didn't want to leave and he didn't want to stop telling me stories. It worked. My new love and appreciation for Gulfport and Tom's ties, his history and connection to his childhood, his parents and the rekindling of past college roommates led us to make a move and invest in something we both knew we'd love for our own reasons and as a couple. Because of our different experiences with Gulfport, we view It from different lenses: mine are rose coloured and Tom's, well, his are honest and expansive. If you ever want to know the real Gulfport, its history and changes, talk to Tom.
