This 1938 art deco DUPLEX home was purchased in June of 2012 by Jimmy Brattain, owner of Design Works and has been under renovation every since. An award winning designer and builder, Mr. Brattain has brought his family's history to life in the quaint town of Gulfport, FL. The concept of the property was inspired by the memory of his grandmother and love of his grandfather who moved to Gulfport after WW11.

The property features a shared pool, private courtyard and parking for two vehicles, custom finishes, such as original murals, crown molding, pecky cypress ceiling, custom fabric backed banquette seating, floor to ceiling marble bathroom, custom lighting including LED recessed lights, ceiling fans, stainless steel appliances including microwave, quartz counter tops, porcelain faux wood flooring, DVD player, wireless Internet, flat screen TV's, washer/dryer, private courtyard, parking for 2 vehicles.
Come stay in a Ralph Lauren inspired space or for the more adventurous, a Hollywood Glam interior is more your style. The property can also be rented for private parties and weddings, both units sleep a total of 10; all 2 blocks from over 18 restaurants & bars and 3 blocks from Boca Ciega Bay and 10 minutes from beautiful St. Pete. Beach.

The property was cozy, very comfortable and had everything we needed and more to have a lovely stay. It was too chilly to use the pool, but it was beautiful nonetheless. Having a private courtyard is a dream. Everything was just perfect. The host was very responsive. Why they chose this property

Mr. Brattain purchased this 1938 duplex situated on a double lot with the thought of scraping the structure in order to build two new homes for re-sale but quickly broke his golden rule and that was falling in love with the property. What started off as an estimated 6 month project has turned into a 2 and a half year labor of intense love. The estimated total completion of Mr. Brattain's vision is early 2016 by adding a fire pit and swimming pool.

Part of the décor is inspired by long nights as child watching old movies with his departed grandmother and other spaces, by the initials of his grandfather, RL. The only example of residential art deco architectural to remain in Gulfport, was saved by a passion to remember two very wonderful people... And as a result, those travelers fortunate enough to stumble across this gem, will see first hand what love can create.
