About this property

LAKE SHELBYVILLE KIMBLE'S FARMHOUSE. SLEEPS 9

KIMBLES FARMHOUSE is a cozy, spacious home that Kimble built from an old wooden corn crib with his own 2 hands. It is just 5 minutes from Lake Shelbyville, but out in the country where the views and the tranquility of the farm make it seem like you are in your own little paradise! It has 3 large bedrooms that sleep a total of 9 people ( one of the bedrooms is a suite with a bath of its own, 2 sitting chairs and its own dining table), 2 full bathrooms, a large eat in kitchen, an adjoining dining room, an inviting living room for great conversations, a patio with a grill and seating to cook out and take in all the scenery, a laundry room with a washer and dryer, electric plugs for boats, and plenty of parking for your boats, cars and trucks! There is a maximum length of stay of 10 days. If longer is needed you will have to contact and approve through owner.

Kimble's Farmhouse sets on a beautiful hill in the middle of an 80 acre farm that Kimble purchased in 1959 when he was just 19 years old.

It is a working farm where guests can look down over the hillside and see a breathtaking view of the landscape, including cattle that sprinkle the hillside.

The cattle are fed every evening in the feedlot and guests can watch as they come running up the hill and are fed at the silo. There are, at times, bottle calves and guests can witness those feedings as well and try your hand at it, if you would like!

There will be corn and bean plantings in the spring and corn and bean harvests in the fall on the farm.

If you are lucky enough to be there during harvest time, you can probably hitch a combine ride!

We would LOVE to have you as our guests at KIMBLE'S FARMHOUSE!

Quiet little spot to get away

We had a great time. Everything was as mentioned in the listing. Arrived just at dark and drove past the property and had to turn around. Might want to verify the Google map location on the listing.

Farm livin is the life for me!

I actually loved the BIG house so much I don't want to give a good review in fear of loosing my spot next year! This place is so cool, from the history of the house and farm and the incredible family that once lived there, to the incredible view from behind the house of a beautiful valley of crops and fields butted up to a long tree line, absolutely gorgeous! Lots of space for everyone including a very nice front porch with plenty of room for all of us to sit. Gives you the feel of living on a farm with all the conveniences 5 to 10 minutes away for whatever you might need. There is a ton of cool stuff to do whether you fish on the stocked pond or take a short ride to the Lake Shelbyville beech for a picnic and swimming or go a little further to one of the marinas to rent a boat for the day!.This was our families 4th year down there, but due to the growth of our now annual trip, this was our first time in the Big house and we loved it! Thank you so much to Vicky for having us! Ollie, Susie and family.

Great Family weekend with the nephews!

We had a really nice weekend with my sister in law, adult nieces and their four boys. Nice comfortable remote location and the boys had a wonderful time roaming around outside, seeing the cows and fishing (they all caught fish just up the road!). Vicky and Mark were so warm and friendly and even shared fresh corn with us ;). If you are cooking a lot or baking a bunch — bring your favorite stuff. They have plenty of seating and plates/silverware! And the couch In the living room is big enough for all to watch a movie at night when the kids are exhausted! Great fun for The Weekend.

Great property for a big group! Would probably go back...

So we really had a great time and thought that overall the property served its purpose and for our group it worked well. We were the dad of two, the mom of two, two of mom's daughter's friends and two of dad's friends. All were 18yrs old and above.... Let's start with the positives: 1. This place was IMMACULATE! So clean! We never saw any bugs, dust, garbage, anything.... we actually couldn't believe it! 2. Very ample seating for all 10 of us to eat at the same time 3. Nice porch for morning coffee and conversation! 4. Clean garage with plenty of space! (the first night it rained so we set up a cornhole tourney in the garage. Not quite regulation space, lol but the garage is even AIR CONDITIONED so we were very comfortable playing music and having a blast out there) 5. There is plenty of silverware and coffee mugs for a big group. Nice coffee maker too! 6. Plenty of outlets throughout the house! 7. Beds and couches were quite comfy 8. Tons of parking space! 9. Washer/dryer are very convenient to have onsite 10. We really enjoyed the story of Kimble and the pics of him and his kids on the wall. 11. VICKY! Vicky is the property manager and is so friendly and so accessible! Made us feel very comfortable there and had an answer to our questions super quick!!! Thank you Vicky! Ok, no place can be perfect. So here are our recommendations to improve for a better stay.... 1. Internet. Phone service was dicey as well so getting data on our phones was difficult and when we were there for boating purposes, we really wanted access to radar and weather reports. (There is a company called Hughesnet that does satellite internet). This is the number one thing that we were missing on this trip! 2. No tv in the master suite 3. The larger upstairs room has a little bit of a tough time staying cool so adding a fan to help circulate the air would maybe help. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to make this place so clean and accommodating for us. If we ever get back to Shelbyville to go boating we would stay at your place again.

Nice, big place for a peaceful getaway.

We really enjoyed staying here for two nights as we got out to outdoor activities like boating and horseback riding. The house was very clean and the property owner was really easy to communicate with. There is no internet, but we actually chose thos place to be disconnected a bit, which was nice. We would recommend a stay here.

Lakewood Farmhouse

This is a farmhouse on a lot of property with a million dollar view over the pastures and fields in the back of the house. 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and 3 showers made it comfortable for all. felt like home.
