The Wee Hauf - cosy, modern, excellent location for exploring Scotland
Unusual bright little house, cosy and comfortable, in small village near historic city of Dunfermline. The Wee Hauf offers you a modern open-plan living space, shower-room, and one bedroom opening directly onto a sun-trap patio and secluded private garden. Lie in bed and listen to the birds sing!
This is an ideal location from which you can explore the many attractions of the ancient Kingdom of Fife, from the golfing heritage of the Auld Course at St. Andrews, to the art gallery in Kirkcaldy, hometown of Jack Vettriano. There are plenty of local events, theatre and arts, sporting activity and motor racing at the Racewall and Knockhill to enjoy. More than lots of things to do, there's plenty of peace and quiet, so you can relax in Fife's beautiful countryside and coastline, including the Lomond Hills and Aberdour's Silver Sand beach. There's a convenience store in the village and with retail and leisure parks nearby, you don't have far to go to shop, eat out, see a film or go bowling
Just 20min from Edinburgh, the Wee Hauf is a short hop to the buzz of Edinburgh, for Hogmany or the world renown Festivals, as well as providing a great base to get out and explore Scotland. Dunfermline has excellent transport links by bus and rail, and the Wee Hauf is close to J3 on the M90. In under an hour, you can be in Perth, gateway to the Highlands, visit the C.R.Mackintosh designed tearooms in Glasgow, or relax in Peebles, amongst rolling Borders hills and salmon rivers.
We've been letting for holidays for several years, always aiming for high standards and good value..

Lovely little house. Small but with everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable. It was lovely and clean and contact with the owner was great. Would stay again.
Superb, close to alot of places to visit, very comfortable, everything you need and more. Lovely garden for the dog. On a main rd but garden makes up for that. Such good value for money

Points to consider
The road situation was difficult. Parking was on the other side of the road so had to dodge busy traffic to get to car
There was no worktop space, the table was broken
I would say no to dogs or children

I'm not sure what the guest meant by run down town as Dunfermline is usually highly rated by visitors as a well looked historic city.
I regret that the guest misinterpreted my reply when they told us they had overslept and asked to leave an hour later than the normal 10am check out. I agreed and asked them to "pack and let us know asap". We had new guests arriving and needed to get ready. I did not and would not ask a guest to get out asap!

A Great Alternative to Edinburgh
This apartment is an economical alternative to the more expensive accommodations in Edinburgh, especially during Festival time. We stayed for two weeks and found getting to and from Edinburgh very easy, with several options – driving and parking (not recommended); taking the train from Dunfermline or Inverkeithing; or crossing the bridge to park at the Ingliston Park and Ride to take the tram to town center.
Our hosts, Fanella and Andy, were very gracious, even allowing us to drop our luggage off early as we were headed in to the city for a day before checking in. The apartment is comfortable. There is a well-stocked kitchen, a small eating table in the good-sized living area that directly adjoins the kitchen, a decent size bathroom with a washer/dryer, and a bedroom that opens on to a private backyard. Parking is on the street, but is usually not a problem. Two large supermarkets are within a 15 minute drive and highway connections are nearby.

As always when we stay at Wee Hauf everything is good.
Wee Hauf is perfect for a short or long term holiday, close to places of interest and a short hop over the Forth to Edinburgh. A great place as a base for touring Scotland.

Brilliant property in perfect location!!
Will definitely be coming back to stay again! Such a perfect location for getting everywhere and anywhere! Buses take you everywhere, can get to edinburgh and Glasgow from Halbeath Park and Ride! We had our car so was nice to tootle about and go to places we've never been to before!
From the outside the property looks like it will be very small but it is surprisingly spacious!! We were very happy that we could also take our dog with us too and he thoroughly enjoyed his time away!
Thank you to Fenella for the warm welcome!

About the host
Hosted by Fenella
I've been hosting for several years, making the annexe (I'd converted what used to be a shop!) available to others, after my dad and I agreed that he had settled really well where he was and didn't need it. As the annexe is self-contained, guests have their privacy but I like the chance to find out what interests them so I can give them some ideas on where to visit. After travelling to several far-flung places, I'm staying closer to home now so I can spend time with my grandchild.
Why they chose this property
Comfortable clean accommodation in a location that will let you quickly get places to enjoy the best Fife and Scotland has to offer.
What makes this property unique
I invested a lot of time and effort in the property - it was to be my Dad's home and going by comments it seems others appreciate the high standard I achieved and maintain.
