Escape to the hills of Alto Pass! Drive to the top of Bald Knob Mountain. Gaze out over the valley from Cliff View Park and drive the Scenic Circle of Alto Pass. Explore the surrounding Shawnee National Forest - Pomona Natural Bridge, Little Grand Canyon and LaRue Pine Hills nearby. See beautiful Giant City State Park and the grand lodge built by the CCC. Check out the Cache River Wetlands with 1,000 year old Cypress trees. Discover the natural beauty that is southernmost Illinois.
Enjoy our nearby wineries and vineyards with award winning wines and tasting rooms plus entertainment from local musicians, dinner theatres and summertime or fall festivals along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. Shop our antique, craft and specialty shops in Alto Pass. Visit our local orchards for apples, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, blueberries and so much more seasonal produce. Fish or swim in Cedar Lake and boat in numerous other lakes. Plus there is so much more if you like golfing, bird watching, biking, hunting, boating, and horseback riding.
Then relax in the quiet, peaceful and private setting of Notting Hill Guest House, a southern Illinois vacation house/cabin rental.
Two bedrooms with one queen and two twin beds. A loft is available with a full size inflatable mattresses. There is also a futon in the front room, if needed. Kitchen has microwave, electric stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and some small appliances. The dining area comfortably sits six people. The new large deck spans the rear of the house. Sit in the new hot tub overlooking the fenced-in yard and the woodlands below. Private Setting.

Directions: 15 miles from Carbondale, the Notting Hill Guest House is located just outside the Village of Alto Pass. From Alto Pass go west towards Bald Knob. The Peach Barn will be on your right. Stay on the road to your right, Milligan Hill Road, for about two miles.
We are 15 miles SW of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Great location!! Quiet and secluded, yet close to Alto Pass and many great hiking trails! The hot tub was a wonderful refresh after a day of hiking trails. The cabin was clean and had a good kitchen and dining table for meals.

Nice getaway with the grands. We also brought our pup which was accommodated without issue. Close to walking trails and KinKaid Lake. Had a very nice few days of hiking, boating, and hanging in the hot tub. Would definitely stay here again and certainly recommend!

Lovely Stay

This property was perfect for our family vacation. Being a pet friendly facility was a huge bonus. The backyard was perfect for relaxing and plenty of space all around! We would definitely recommend this home.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and very cozy!! Check in was at 4:00 and a breeze to get in. It was clean and the hot tub was a great bonus!! We loved our stay. We toured the Cross of Peace around the corner from us, enjoyed the Alto winery and Orchards. Lots to do in a small town. We rode our bicycles one evening and loved looking at the countryside. Great little getaway for us. Thanks for being great hosts.

We stayed here previously but it was under different ownership. The new owners have done a great job of making it really comfortable. It was a perfect spot for us to visit family and have our own space close by.

Spring Getaway

We stayed 4 days with our pup who enjoyed the fenced in yard! Despite the rainy weather for half of our trip we were comfortable in the house. It had everything we needed to cook and relax. Utlized the hot tub a few days as well as hiked neary Giant City and Ferne Cliff.
