Region: A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Town: A.E. Houseman's poem, “A Shropshire Lad”, called Clun “the quietest place under the sun”, and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th Century pack horse bridge, and two country inns, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills.

Lovely cottage

We had a lovely stay at marigold cottage the village of clun is an excellent place to explore the Shropshire hills and the village itself has some great amenities. The cottage was super cute with a lovely fireplace and everything you need for a weekend break. . And the bed was comfy!
