About this property
The lake life is waiting for you! Swimming, fishing, boating on Center Lake.
This private cottage is directly on water's edge! Lakeside Maison Rouge (Lakeside Red House) guests will enjoy just the right mix of a quiet neighborhood with lake activity while experiencing classic lake living at it's very best!
Lakeside offers a pedal boat and two stand-up paddleboards complimentary to guests and a delightful way to get out on the water! A local marina offers a PONTOON RENTAL exclusive to Lakeside guests. Or, bring your own boat and dock it right in front of the house! Message Chris your host for more details!
Located on a chain of lakes just minutes from I-94 and US 127, the two-story home features three private bedrooms with a shared full bath on the upper level. NEW CENTRAL AIR... The main level offers a newly renovated kitchen with nearby half-bath, dining area, living area, bonus room with single sleeper loveseat (great for a small child or teen) and fourth bedroom with double bed. The west facing fully enclosed three seasons porch often gives way to a continuous breeze while providing a shady place for morning coffee, afternoon board games and conversation, and a front row seat to beautiful Michigan sunsets.
The open-air deck overlooks the freshwater lake and is the perfect place to soak up some sunshine. And a newly added cement patio offers dappled shade for lounging on the two chaises or enjoying a meal at the picnic table complete with adjustable umbrella.
A permanent marina inspired wooden dock is sturdy and ready for feet dangling or casting your fishing rod to catch the evening's meal! And, if you don't mind, you may end up sharing it with a "just passing by" Sandhill Crane or Blue Heron.
The decor reflects an eclectic, comfortable style where guests can relax and unwind. When selecting the exterior color, the owners decided to embrace the barn shape and painted it barn red. The landscaping is manicured each week and continues to evolve with the addition of hostas, daylilies, and hydrangea. Two mature Crimson Maples shade the side yard and cement patio.
A school playground is a short walk from Lakeside with a paved, stroller friendly sidewalk to travel. After some play, the Dairy Queen is just a bit further for a tasty treat. Not wanting to cook? How about a coney dog and root beer in a frosty mug at the drive-up "Rudy's Diner" where your meal is brought on a tray and attached to the car window! Or order up a delicious meal for pick-up at "Los Tres Amigos" restaurant located about a 1/2 mile from Lakeside.
The Downtown Jackson area has many unique shops and restaurants and is a quick drive from Lakeside. While you're there, take a memorable photo in front of one the unique Bright Walls Murals, recently featured in the Chicago Daily Tribune as a "not to miss" Midwest attraction.
Several notable golf courses are located in Jackson County. And, you won't want to miss taking in one (or more) of the award-winning wineries - all within a short drive. The Potter Center at Jackson College offers a wide variety of art and celebrity entertainment.
Michigan International Speedway, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University are easily accessible from Lakeside as well.
Your perfect getaway awaits. Come and experience the ease and comfort of Lakeside Maison Rouge.

About the host
Hosted by Christine Gorton

Hi! My name is Chris and I am delighted to serve as your host at Lakeside Maison Rouge!
My vision when creating the property was to provide a relaxed, uncluttered space for guests to experience classic lake life. I have grown up on Center Lake and cherish the memories of being a "lake kid" learning to swim, catching minnows and crayfish, and dangling my feet from the dock.
I am a lifelong resident of Jackson County making me super familiar with area "things to do" just in case guests wish to have a day out and about shopping, playing golf, or hiking the Falling Waters Trail.
Lakeside was traditional as a rental home for many years. It wasn't until early 2020 that my husband and I decided to explore the vacation home rental opportunity....and it has been a rewarding and fun experience.
I hope you will find Lakeside a good match for your Pure Michigan getaway - and I look forward to sharing the property with you!
