We stayed here for a week, and the property is so peaceful, and the location is perfect. Its also very close to Cumberland Gap Park, and its only 10-15 minutes from town.
Wonderful place in the country.. lots of wildlife to see. Clean, comfortable and in a great location for traveling into Harrogate. Lots of history and fun things to do. The Cumberland Gap, Lincoln Memorial and we kayaked down the Powell River for 4 hours.
Great place to get away from it all. Very clean and nicely upgraded. Perfect for 2 people. Loved sitting on the porch and watching the cows grazing nearby, deer running around and birds in the apple trees. Denton is a fantastic host!
Stayed 2 nights. In area for funeral. Denton is very welcoming. Clean. Safe area. Relaxing country atmosphere. Rocking chair on porch with great views. Perfect for my needs. Would stay again. Thanks Denton!
Low tech and comfortable. Unplug and breathe in the air, enjoy the view off the porch, listen to the wind rustling through the trees, watch the cows walk the hillside.
Long ago, my grandfather farmed the land across the lane from Denton's place, and there is no landscape more precious to me. The green hills and the blue, blue September sky took me back sixty years. Denton is a kind soul, a wonderful poet, and a gracious host.
This was my second trip to Denton's place, and I hope to return many times. The landscape is so lovely, and this time I was awestruck at the starlight! I've not seen so many stars since I was a child, staying with my grandparents on that very lane. Denton is a wonderful host, and he is a truly wonderful poet, too.
Property setting is beautiful. Mobile home was clean and well equipped. Host was very pleasant and excellent communicator. Check in was a breeze. I was attending a 2 day music festival in Pineville so i was not able to spend a great deal of time at property. I would love to go back and just relax and read a few books from the owner's nice collection. Will definitely stay again.
Super clean, cozy home with plenty of space snd amenities. We loved the library and puzzles. Beautiful country views with easy access to groceries, shopping, and restaurants. Our favorite part of the stay for the week was being 20 minutes from the Cumberland Gap National Historic park. The hiking and views were amazing! The location of the home also allows for quick day trips. We spent a day in Knoxville and a day horseback riding at Jayell Ranch and stopped at the Bush’s Baked Beans Visitors Center on the way. So fun! Denton was a wonderful host! We would definitely return!
We had a great time at Denton’s place. It was clean and well maintained, communication was excellent, and Denton was very accommodating. The location was lovely and peaceful and away from large roads. We went for walks and passed lots of horses and cattle, and it was altogether very tranquil and exactly what we were looking for.
The only slight con was that it was summer and the only AC was a window unit in the main room, so when we closed our bedroom doors to sleep, we were too hot. After the first night, we slept with our doors open and were plenty cool.
This is the perfect getaway for writers, especially. The owner provides wonderful reading material. The stay would have been perfect if the premises had a washer and dryer or at least a washer and a clothesline. The nearest laundromat is about ten miles away. The property was clean and peaceful, and the owner provides cookware. He also makes it very easy to check in. I do recommend blinds or a curtain for the kitchen window. Overall, excellent experience.
We had to travel to see a sick family member who lives in the same town as the property. The town is small and remote, so the hotel options area 30 minute drive to my family’s house. It’s really hard to drive from 4 hours away, then spend your time on the road from hotels. This turned out to be the perfect spot! Quiet, clean, secluded, and the host checked on us and was responsive to questions before we left home. The cost of stay was spot on. I enjoyed the stay. The setting is country/remote. 20 minutes from shopping and mountains.
Very quiet. Cell service was ba placerely, nothing the owner has control over, just something you may want to know. Can't tell it from the pics, but there's a house right in front of the place which I wasn't expecting. Not a big deal. Had a previous reservation but an issue with the place caused a last minute cancellation. Owner was great in handling it and working out a solution.
the remoteness was great but it was a drive if you need anything. not bad just a side effect.
I did get to speak briefly with the owner would like to have spent more time with him but I was gone a lot.
I would recommend this place and hope to return sometime in the future.
Older trailer but still nice and clean, in a beautiful area! No traffic noise, no noise but birds in the day and crickets at night. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend getaway!
Denton was great to work with. Got back to us promptly with any inquiries. Needed a place for a few days while working on housing situation. He even went to check on my student when they fell asleep without checking in late in the evening for me. Very grateful for the understanding and hospitality going above and beyond for us. Thank you so much. Would love to stay again!!
My grandparents' farm used to be on this property, and to my relief and great delight, the land is now as it always was. For me, there is not a lovelier spot on earth. Denton is a kind and attentive host, and the place was clean and oh so peaceful. I hope to return again and again.
The accommodations are exactly as pictured. Quaint and secluded, yet only about 10 miles outside Harrogate. Ideal for a writing retreat or a great place to stay for hikers. Host responded immediately anytime I had questions.
I had a peaceful stay with no issues and was comfortable, the road is quiet/almost never any cars on it - good for walks, no neighbors nearby, the property is very quiet, as there's only the owners' house near it. Had seen lots of birds and a few small animals, there're picturesque mountains nearby, half-forest, half-pastures area and agriculture is mostly goats and few cows.
We had a great stay. Denton was very accommodating with our late check in and early check out. The property was clean, quiet and very close to Tackett Creek for riding. We will be booking in the future.
