The location is amazing. You're close to the lake for a day of boating, Otherwise you can enjoy many of the other amazing things to do in the Ozark Mountains such as swimming at the lake, floating, hiking, or even finding a secluded beach along black river to pop up the sun-shade and lawn chairs and watch the kids (or pets) splash around in the water while you relax.
Looking for more to do while visiting? We have a great guest book in the house with all of the wonderful things to do restaurants and much much more!
The house has a master bedroom (queen size bed & pack and play) and a second bedroom with a double full size bunk bed. The living room has new furniture and a mounted smart TV. The amazing wrap around screened in porch will keep the bugs away and offer a peaceful relaxing setting. Feel free to use the BBQ Grill, or Fire Pit!

Steve-
Thank you very much for the kind review! We are so happy you had a nice time and enjoyed both the Black River and Clearwater lake. The location is key for getting the best of Both worlds!
I will apologize for the neighbors collection of antiques 🤦♂️. That being said, I hope you noticed the privacy fence that was started earlier this week. We should have it finished next weekend.
We look forward to your next visit!

Stayed two nights. Comfortable and clean. The screened in porch was a big hit with my boys because of the video game machine. Overall nice place.

Nice getaway
We loved the porch and the fire pit. There were plenty of cooking supplies and dishes for our stay. The sunshine shack is not within walking distance to the lake (photos were misleading), and the road traffic made it dangerous to walk anywhere. (No sidewalk, no shoulder, fast traffic). No doors on bedrooms! Tiny bathroom (no one bigger than a small child will fit in bathtub). Light switches were intermittent in kitchen. Towel bars in bathroom fell off several times. Needed additional dish soap and a scrubbing pad to effectively clean dishes. No dishwasher, and no washer or dryer!
We had a fabulous time and enjoyed the house, however we chose this place because the pics made it appear to have lake access. I was disappointed it did not. The beautiful porch and gorgeous weather made up for it!

Nicki-
We are glad you chose to stay with us and enjoyed the Firepit and Porch.
I apologize that you were hoping the house was closer to the lake. I don't understand how the "pictures" were misleading. The pictures don't reference the distance one way or another. It is the closest property to the lake on VRBO. Clearwater lake is a Corp of Engineer lake property. This means no houses are allowed to actually be on the lake. This sets it apart, and keeps the beauty of the lake.
You are correct there are no sidewalks on the road, however the speed limit is 25 MPH. We walk our dogs and kids down to the lake when we spend time down there. It is about a 10 minute walk.
The Sunshine Shack is a cabin, therefor it doesn't have all of the amenities you'd expect in a house. We strive to make that very clear and as accurate as possible in the description.
If you ever have questions, we make ourselves very accessible to answer anything at all and help if you have issues with the property so we can get those fixed immediately to insure a comfortable stay.
We rented this property last minute because we were over booked at the last place. We were so thankful that someone had canceled & it was available. It did the job & kept the kids happy but it wasn’t the cleanest place. It’s felt VERY dusty. I had to wash every dish before using it. There is no A/C it’s a window unit in the kitchen, there were a few fans but they were so old & the filters were completely full & no way to clean them so hardly any air would blow. The ceiling fan in the kitchen is for looks it’s doesn’t work. All in all we were happy to still be able to go, I doubt I would stay again due to the price for what we got. Holiday weekends are more obviously but it was still high
The “Sunshine Shack’s “ location in Piedmont, MO was perfect as our hiking “home base”. Everyday within a 30 to 60 minute driving radias we were in a National or State Park. (Ie. Elephant Rocks, Taum Sauk & Baker State Parks, Lake Wapappello, etc.) In addition, the house is well maintained and clean.
Our Golden Retriever had plenty of room inside the house and it was easy to walk out the front door for “potty”breaks.
Overall, a very good experience. Communication with Andy was great and quick. We had know idea that Clearwater Lake was such a big vacation spot in Missouri. The state of Missouri has wonderful landscape, friendly people and was a pleasure to experience. The “Sunshine House was perfect for our vacation needs.!
The house was adorable and decorated very nicely. I didn’t stay very long, so didn’t have time to explore much. It was cold when I was there and the window heating unit didn’t do much to warm it up. Also, it could use an iron and ironing board for guest use. Otherwise it was absolutely lovely.
We enjoyed visiting and playing games on the screened in porch. The location is just a short drive to the lake, so we were able to hang out on the beach, do some boating and take a float trip on the Black river. The bathroom door will not shut all the way. There was not enough toilet paper or dish detergent but a fun little place to stay. Very kid friendly.

Thank you so much for coming to stay with us. We are so happy you and the family enjoyed your stay! We definitely strive to make the place comfortable and welcoming for people of all ages.
Thank you for letting us know about the bathroom door. We were able to get that fixed, so no future guests have the same issue.
My apologies about the supplies, In addition to the two roles and Dish soap. We leave all the extra supplies under the sink, and kitchen vanity. We will be sure to make that clear to future guests.
Thanks again!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. The information about swimming holes in the guest guide book was really helpful, and the host was really responsive when I reached out for more details. We also really enjoyed making use of the Firepit. Everything is decorated quite nicely.
There are a few very minor issues. Some of the drawer pulls in the main bedroom dresser had broken off, making opening the drawers quite difficult. A couple of things broke during our stay- the sealer on the bottom of the screen door and the towel ring on the back of the bedroom door (we reattached it).
There are also a couple features that I did not realize when I viewed the listing: the bedrooms do not have doors, only curtains. Also, the air conditioner is only in the kitchen. The den with the couch and tv- which we really enjoyed, btw- seems to be a porch that has been enclosed. So it tends to get hotter quicker if you turn the A/C. The A/C is quite powerful and kept us cool, but it is a little loud. We kept it on pretty much the whole time we were there.
The kitchen is equipped with basic equipment and even some kind of fryer. A few baking sheets would be really useful to add.
We LOVED the little toys for the kids. New toys are always preferred by the kids and they had a blast. I also really liked that I could send the kids out on the porch and know that they were safe. They loved the porch swing. Unfortunately it was hot out there for most of our stay. We tried the porch fan but it was quite loud.
We enjoyed going to the creek/river. It was a little nerve wracking driving on the dirt roads in our minivan, but we were very cautious and didn’t have any mishaps. I would have been more comfortable if we were to n an suv or truck.
Overall we really enjoyed it.
