About this property

The Vineyard Cottage at Stay Waiheke

Summary:

A romantic vineyard hideaway overlooking the rolling valleys of Onetangi. Set beside award-winning wineries with views stretching toward the coast, this Mediterranean-style cottage is a private retreat for two. Sun-soaked patios, warm interiors, and the peaceful rhythm of vineyard life make this a calm, scenic base for long lunches, slow mornings, and easy walks to world-class wine and food.

The Space:

The Vineyard Cottage is a peaceful, Mediterranean-inspired retreat set at the edge of the vineyard with rural views across neighbouring Miro/Casita Miro and Obsidian vines. The cottage is designed for simplicity and calm, with bi-fold doors opening to a sunny patio, outdoor dining, and the natural stillness of the valley.

Inside, the open-plan living area feels relaxed and welcoming, with soft light, comfortable seating, and a compact kitchenette for simple home cooking. The bedroom sits just off the main space and includes a super-king bed and warm, natural textures that suit the rural setting. A full bathroom with a rain shower completes the interior.

The patio is where you’ll spend most of your time, quiet mornings with coffee, long afternoons in the sun, and evenings grilling on the gas BBQ as the vines shift colour with the light. Follow the track past the vineyard to reach Onetangi Beach, one of Waiheke’s most loved stretches of sand, or wander uphill toward the surrounding wineries for tastings, lunch, or sunset glasses of wine.

Bed & Bath Configuration

Bedroom 1: Super-king bed

Bathroom: Full bathroom with rain shower

Guest Access:

Guests have private use of the cottage, patio, and outdoor dining area. You can park beside the cottage if you have a 4WD or AWD vehicle. For two-wheel-drive vehicles, parking is in the layby approximately 40–50 metres from the cottage, with a short walk to the front door.

Check-in is from 2:00pm, and check-out is 10:30am.

Early check-ins and late check-outs may be available for a small fee if there are no same-day turnovers.

The Neighborhood:

The cottage sits in one of Waiheke’s most iconic food and wine valleys, surrounded by renowned vineyards and restaurants including Miro/Casita Miro, Stonyridge, Te Motu, and Obsidian, all within walking distance.

A beautiful 10-minute walk leads down the hill to Onetangi Beach, home to Three Seven Two, Ki Māha, and Charlie Farley’s. A little further you’ll find the Onetangi shops, small cafés, and access to the coastal walkway. You’re also a short drive to The Heke Brewery and Distillery for casual dining, craft beer, and sunny lawn space.

This is an ideal location for guests wanting quiet rural charm with outstanding food, wine, and coastline close by.

Getting Around:

A car is recommended for exploring Waiheke, as distances between villages, wineries, and beaches can be longer than they appear. If you prefer not to drive, the nearest bus stop is in Onetangi, where buses run toward Oneroa Village and continue to the passenger ferry at Matiatia, stopping at major wineries (including The Heke) along the way.

Taxis and rideshare services operate island-wide, though availability can be limited during peak times.

Other Things to Note:

The Vineyard Cottage sits at the end of a gravel road which is suitable for 4WD or AWD vehicles. Two-wheel-drive vehicles must park in the layby at the top, approximately 40–50 metres from the cottage.

This property uses rainwater tanks, so we kindly ask guests to be mindful of water usage during their stay.

Pets are considered on request only.

This was a beautiful Bach in a beautiful location. The views were stunning, as was the Bach itself. Being colder, the log fire was an added bonus. It had everything we needed for our stay, with lots of tips and recommendations for discovering Waiheke.

A beautiful cottage close to the vineyards

The Vineyard Cottage is as sunny and charming as it's photos. The views are stunning and the amenities stylishly rustic. This is a perfect location for two and we loved walking through the olive grove to wine tasting. A perfect weekend away.

Vineyard bliss

Gorgeous, tasteful property in a beautiful setting. Kim was super helpful too. Only minor qualm was there being no kindling to light the log burner, plenty of wood though.

All things considered. Top stay

We have stayed here several times in the past and loved it every time. Including our engagement, wedding, and 1yr anniversary. There was bread, butter, milk and wine! Wow! The location is convenient, views and scenery are beautiful and it’s just an amazing romantic and peaceful little cottage. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere memorable, private and exceptional to stay on Waiheke!

we love the cottage due to history there, its very pretty, the aircon is fantastic, the views are second to none, its beautiful, quiet, and a fantastic location. we will stay again. POI: the cottage was clean but we were told there would be a light left on which it wasn't, last time there were beach towels and this time there wasn't, the fridge light went out on the first night, there was only 2 towels for 2 people for 2 days, (last time there was 4 towels so you could wash your hair etc).

Kim meet us and took us through the beautiful cottage, the pictures don't do it justice , its just delightful, with lovely views of the valley, vines and even horses on the hill. Its just about 50 steps away form the divine Casita Miro Winery, which I cant recommend enough, the food is second to none and the service is impeccable. It was just the most relaxing weekend in a beautiful part of NZ

Absolutely fabulous!

Absolutely fabulous! A gorgeous little cottage with beautiful character, clean, fresh and cosy, right amongst the vines with view on the vineyards and flowers in the garden attracting tui feeding at arm length just in front of the window. The fireplace and heat pump heat the place wonderfully for relaxed winter evenings. We were welcomed by an already heated cottage, and fresh bread and beautiful milk in the fridge. What else would you wish for? Will be back in this cottage next Waiheke visit!

Tranquil, unique.

Tranquil, unique. The cottage was adorable and had everything we needed. Fabulous setting among vines and olives but near to some of the best wineries. You can walk to lovely Onetangi beach and there is a bus service but transport for other excursions is desirable. We will definitely try to book this again.
