Surrounded by birdsong, mature native forest and breathtaking views, this peaceful sanctuary offers the perfect place to slow down, reconnect and recharge.
Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway, a personal retreat, a wellness weekend, or simply a break from the pace of modern life, our beautifully appointed yurt provides a memorable and restorative experience in one of New Zealand's most spectacular natural settings.
## A Unique Glamping Experience
Combining the charm of traditional yurt living with modern comforts, the yurt offers a warm, inviting and comfortable space throughout the year. The circular design creates a sense of calm and connection, while the natural surroundings provide privacy and tranquility.
During cooler months, light the cozy woodburner and settle in with a book as the warmth fills the yurt. Listen to the sounds of the forest, watch the changing light through the trees, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being fully present in nature.
In the warmer months, open the doors and windows to allow fresh mountain air to flow through the space while enjoying uninterrupted views across the valley and beyond.
## Luxury Outdoor Bath Under the Stars
One of the highlights of your stay is the luxury outdoor bath. Heated by gas with instant hot water, it offers the perfect place to relax at any time of year.
Soak beneath a canopy of stars while enjoying the peace and quiet of the surrounding bush. Watch the sun set over the valley, listen to native birds calling from the trees, or simply enjoy the stillness that makes this location so special.
The outdoor bath has become a favourite feature for guests seeking relaxation, romance and a genuine connection with nature.
## Spectacular Views
Positioned high above the Motueka Valley, the retreat enjoys sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
Take in vistas of rolling hills, native forest, the Motueka River and distant mountain ranges. On clear days, views extend towards Tasman Bay, creating an ever-changing panorama throughout the day.
Sunrises and sunsets are particularly memorable, with the landscape bathed in golden light while the valley below slowly transitions between day and night.
The views alone make this retreat a destination worth experiencing.
## Peace, Quiet and Nature
Te Manawa Ecovillage is a thriving eco-community committed to sustainable living and a deep connection with the natural environment.
The retreat is surrounded by regenerating native bush, creating a peaceful atmosphere where guests can truly unwind. Native birds such as tui, kereru and fantails are regular visitors, while the absence of city noise allows guests to enjoy a level of tranquility that is increasingly rare.
Many guests comment on how quickly they begin to relax after arriving. The combination of nature, silence and spectacular scenery creates an environment that naturally encourages rest and reflection.

Our stay in the yurt was incredibly beautiful! the environment is great, the furnishings were great and best of all: a bathtub with a sea view. We would come back at any time and recommend a stay in the accommodation to everyone. We will always have fond memories of our stay
What a lush and wholesome place!
A truly magical spot in the bush and the yurt was amazing. A perfect place to relax and recharge with nature ❤️
Thanks for having us we had a lovely stay 😊
Natalie and Stephan were very helpful, right from the check-in to answering any questions we had. The yurt is beautiful and we loved the peace and quiet environment. Very comfortable and relaxing stay. Thankyou 🙂
Lovely big Yurt to sleep in with loads of space. Great outdoor space to eat on and fantastic bath beneath the stars. Generally be aware of the steep road up and the walk from the car with cases -- about 70m. This doesn't detract from the property itself which was great.
Lovely spot. Away from everything, however Motueka is only a short journey away - 15 minutes. I found the drive up the gravel driveway a bit scary at first, however quickly got used to it. Bathroom, kitchen and second bedroom are in a separate building to the Yurt. We travelled with young children. They enjoyed the experience too.
Our 3 days stay (including Christmas) here was quite an experience! The owners have created a space where guests can experience how it is to have some modern conveniences at the same time be environmentally friendly and sustainable. The yurt and the cabin have everything you need, and more, to relax, recharge, and connect with nature. The air quality is A-mazin! Thank you to our amazing hosts for sharing this wonderful space with us…and others!
Very unique accommodation. Who can say they have stayed in a yhurt before. It is beautiful. Very relaxing place to stay. The kids also really enjoyed it. They didn’t want to leave. Would definitely go back and stay.
The space is well laid out, very well equipped and has great views. The stars were incredible at night, the facilities far exceeded my expectations. A very happy stay!
The yurt experience was definitely a great one! The added deck with valley and ocean view, plus a kitchen , bedroom and bathroom made it feel like total glamping.. Stephan was very friendly too.
Wonderful week relaxing at this utterly unique property - like glamping in a fantastic remote location without having to do the hard work tramping in there. We loved the views, the bush walk, the bird life, the comfy beds and the experience of living so well off the grid.
We really enjoyed our stay in the yurt. There were a couple of little things that weren't ideal - sound travels very strongly within and surrounding the yurt. We could hear the neighbours during the evening (but it was at Christmas time). We also found it got very hot despite opening the doors as soon as we got back from our daily activities. We managed to open one of the yurt windows but this was not enough to bring in some more air. Unfortunately the heat also brought the flies - which was a pain and very annoying as there was nothing to get rid of them (no fly swot or natural repellants).
The view was lovely and my children loved the hammock. Being a little older I would have liked something a little softer and supportive to sit on at the end of an active day besides a hammock or wooden bench.
The shower is outstanding - excellent pressure and wonderfully hot.
The inside beds are very firm.

Thank you for your review
Usually it us in the upstairs house and we are always mindful of our guests. I hope our Christmas guests upstairs which is only three weeks every second year are also.
The yurt rooftop can be opened to release hot air,( instructions are on the inside of the yurt door) and there are also another two windows that can be opened.
Inside the yurt there is a comfortable lounge and on the deck a hammock, an outdoor table with bench seats and two outdoor beanbags for your comfort.
Staying in a Yurt is different. Not your usual motel room. Big room with wood fire. Great views and privacy up the hill. Natalie very obliging. Missed out on the outdoor bath/shower overlooking the hills and sea through small technical issue with gas hot water heater. Facilities - kitchen and shower very good. Highly recommend and hipe to return.
This is a peaceful and utterly unique, special place. Natalie is such a lovely host, thank you for having us.

Such a relaxing spot - Just what we needed to recharge our batteries!
We're just back from spending 3 nights at the Treehouse Yurt Retreat and have had such a wonderful time there!
It is so close to Nelson (were we live) and as I am pregnant, the drive to this lovely accommodation was just perfect.
The Yurt and Tree House are both really clean and comfortable. So comfortable in fact that we ended up not moving at all for the 3 days we were there.
The place was spotless, decorated with taste and equipped with everything you need. The beds were very comfortable. There is also a log burner inside the Yurt for colder nights if you need.
The kitchen was very functional and loved that there is a stainless steel gas hob. We didn't need to use the oven but I could imagine that next time we are there, we may bake a few cookies and/or cakes :) The stainless steel sink is also very practical and easy to clean.
The bathroom was so relaxing with its large windows opening up on the trees. Good water pressure and temperature. The owners are supplying some eco products for their guests to use. And there is even a washing machine if you need (we didn't need to use it but handy to have if you're staying for longer).
The deck area is wonderful! Furnished with taste and so comfortable: from a very large wooden table and benches to comfy loungers and hammock. We loved spending time outside watching the stars, soaking up the view on Motueka and the ocean, listening to the birds (Tui, Kare Kare, Morpork, Fantails, Robins, Weka, so many different bird songs!)
The short walk to the Yurt is lovely, between the flax and native bush. The Yurt is not far from the owners home which can be handy if you have questions or need help with anything. Yet, it still felt very private as the accommodation is surrounded with vegetation and we didn't see a soul until the day we left, when we went back to our car.
The community up there is so fortunate to live in such a stunning area and we are very grateful that they've decided to open and share a bit of their lifestyle with us through this holiday accommodation.
You can definitely see that the owners have been working hard recently to improve this holiday home. We'll definitely be back when we have family visiting from overseas and will recommend it to our close friends too!

The yurt was a really great space, unfortunatly the yurt wasn't as secluded as expected.
The yurt was a really great space, unfortunatly the yurt wasn't as secluded as expected. It was pretty clean but there was rubbish left from the previous guests and there wasn't enough toilet paper. Enjoyable but wouldn't return

Sorry that place was not as clean as expected. Usually our guests are very respectful. We now have a care taker for yurt so the toilet paper should not be an issue. Secluded, well it is in an eco village but peoe that live here l feel very private and respectful of eachother

HI There, We are a family of 4, Natalie, Stephan, Chloe and Lotus. We migrated from Holland in 2005 to NZ. We started our Eco village 'Te Manawa' in 2005 and by 2007 we where living permanent on the land. Natalie is a fully qualified Qi Gong master and teacher, Stephan is an architect and Chloe and Lotus are both attending school. We love travelling and have done many times.
Why they chose this property
Our property is very unique and can be seen as a way of living in harmony with the land. The land is previously been logged but the generation process is well under way for over 25 yrs. The entire property of 150acres is commonly owned by 6 families who all reside her. We look after the land through invasive flora and fauna removal, track building, planting and general upkeep. The land is on steep so called 'Seperation point granite', a highly erosive soil type which can be very problematic due to erosion. The land is totally unsuitable for clearfell logging, but this is still common practice in the district causing huge problems. The way we look after the land might a a very good example of proper land management on these soils. We also have big areas of native bush protected by a covenant (QE2). This means these can't logged. As a result of our pest control you will find many native rare birds on the property. The bird song is very beautiful. We do get visits from native Kea's every now and then. Please don't interact with these very intelligent birds or feed them.
What makes this property unique
Amazing views. Quite space in the bush but close to town. Enjoy the moonrise over the ocean. Prolific birdlife. Activities onsite Qigong classes and healing onsite as well as bushwalks. Motueka river in the valley for a great dip or fishing. Mountain biking close by.
