Rainbow Point Pad - Large elevated bach with lake and mountain views, Free Wi-Fi

This is a basic, old-school Kiwi bach—no frills, just the way we know and love. It comfortably sleeps two families and is set in a quiet neighbourhood, just a short walk across the road to the lake and swimming at Rainbow Point, or a little further to Wharewaka—a favourite local swimming spot!

The home features a generous second-level balcony, perfect for enjoying lake and mountain views on a sunny day. There’s also a games room on the bottom floor with a pool table and kitchenette—ideal for keeping everyone entertained.

Please note: the lounge does not have blinds or curtains.

You`re close to the popular Lions Walk, a scenic path along the lake edge, and within walking distance to a convenience store, fish n chip shop, and restaurant. A short drive takes you to the 2 Mile Bay boat jetty, and in just 10 minutes, you can be soaking in hot pools or enjoying Taupo`s shops and dining options.

With five bedrooms, two bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and a large heat pump, this home is a great base for your next Taupo holiday.

Missing a few key essentials but otherwise perfect

We loved the house and would definitely stay again. Once we'd worked out the heating it's very warm, the sunny living room with it's views back to Taupo is gorgeous during the day and the location is amazing. Some clean warm bedding, a dishcloth and a couple of wooden spoons and some bowls, a few extra chairs, some arrival instructions and some curtains would be all that is needed to make this place perfect.

Location and size of property great - everything not as much

Location was great and overall size of property was good - but thats where the good stuff ended for us unfortunately. Mainly because 1. The owners chose not to vacate the property until after 2pm which meant it was not ready for us at 2pm as it still needed to be cleaned etc, 2. Main entrance outside light and majority of the lights in the bedrooms either didn’t have bulbs or just dont work, 3. There was not enough hot water for the amount of people it claims to be able to house, 4. Some of the windows don’t lock properly so are drafty (not ideal above a bed) 5. There had been no attempt to empty the wheelie bin or recycling bin so we couldn’t use them, 6. Major ant problem in the downstairs bathroom, 7. Every room had cobwebs in them. We expected more.

Shocking.

Great location to the lake, however had to park on the road and carrying luggage inside was some walk, there was a boat parked in the drive had no idea prior to arriving, the house smelt musky and hadn’t been aired out for sometime, beds weren’t made properly blankets thrown on, washing machine didn’t work at all, downstairs wasn’t pleasant either ants galore, broken bed all the beds need replacing some are over at least 30years old, the top of house the balcony was dangerous the safety rails are loose and riggly we ended up putting the bbq in front of the rails it was that dangerous if anyone lent up against it chances are would have broken. The bbq was dirty with cockroaches. Ran out of hot water for the size of the house only managed to have 2 showers then there was no hot water, for the remaining of the night this happened round 8pm ish on the first night. Broken outside chairs and pool cues there were broken power points right throughout the property there was no tv reception have to take like a device to get any kind of TV. But the Balcony really needs replacing someone could get really hurt even when it rains the surface is slippery.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We did find the various instructions in the onsite material as well as online a little confusing and sometimes contradicted each other. Easily fixed. The Harcourts contact staff were great and very friendly.

The living area of the house is great for families but would be a lot more homely with curtains or blinds. Good kitchen and dining area. Some duvets need washing and light bulbs replacing, beds downstairs are low quality. We were a little disappointed given the price.

We thought location was fantastic. Fabulous lounge are. Lightbulbs that didn't work and unsafe light above one of the beds dangerous. Beds comfortable but could have better mattress protectors on them and I wonder when the duvet covers were last washed. For the cost wouldn't stay here again

Extended Family Holiday

We enjoyed staying here. The house was spacious for the two families of adult / adult children staying. Everyone had space when they needed or could come together to socialise easily. It was great being this close to the lake too

We loved our stay at rainbow point. The house was roomy and warm and the B winter view was stunning. The only downside was the pool table missing balls and the cues were broken which was a disappointment for the teenagers. Aside from that we’d love to come and stay again

Rainbow POINT MEMORIES.

Taupō holiday home

This is a awesome whare! Lots of space for 2 whānau to stay comfortably. There is a pool table downstairs which our whānau really enjoyed. The location was a bonus really close to the lake with beautiful views of the lake and at night the lights from town look pretty. If we ever return to Taupō for a holiday we would definitely stay again.
