About this property
Affordable & cosy alpine cabin - an ideal couples retreat with outdoor bath!
Tucked away on the forest's edge, this little cabin is the perfect place to escape to.
The location is 1.2 km from the township - a peaceful spot yet only a ten-minute stroll (or a 3 min drive) to the hub of Hanmer. The cabin is new and, although it is small, it is quick to heat and has everything you need - a comfy queen-sized bed, smart tv, modern ensuite and a well-equipped kitchenette.
Enjoy relaxing out under the stars in the outdoor bath on your own private deck.
Pet dogs are welcome to join you on your stay -we just ask that there is no dog hair left in the cabin and no damage done to internal furnishings. The huge 0.6 ha section is a dog's paradise with heaps of room to run around. The section is dog fenced off from the neighbouring house but it is not fenced on the sides that border forestry reserve. We do ask that any dogs are kept under control as there are walking tracks nearby within the reserve. There is however a large grassy area on the section and within that we have fenced off an area of about 10m x 5m (including trees for shade) as somewhere secure to leave a dog unattended.
As many of our guests aren't travelling far from home (often from Christchurch), to keep the price down we offer the option of bringing their own sheets (or sleeping bag), pillow cases and towels. If you'd rather we supply them, there is an extra fee for this ($25 for the bedding and $5 per towel).
If you want a break away in nature that doesn't break the bank - this is for you. If you want a simple base from which you can explore many bike and tramping trails - this is for you. If you want to spend your time enjoying the cafes and restaurants of Hanmer and only really need a small kitchen - this is for you. If you want to stay somewhere that really feels like being in the wilderness rather than the suburbs, this is for you. If you want to be able to bring your dog(s), this is for you.

Cosy little cabin hidden in the trees. Lovely heating birdlife while enjoying a soak in outdoor tub. Great for a few nights stay and affordable.

They mentioned it was dog friendly on the listing but when the confirmation came through the dogs had to be caged or tied up outside wasn’t ideal

I'm not sure where you got that from - the info sheet for the property states that dogs are welcome to run free on our large grassy section as long as they don't enter neighbouring properties. We do prefer they are crated to sleep if sleeping in the cabin so that dog hair isn't left on the bed.
The cabin was perfect for my girlfriend and I to get away for a night. The place was clean and looked like the photos. The outside bath could use some more privacy but the perfect size for two.
We loved our stay, the place is gorgeous! Only thing was, people kept wandering onto the property asking about the walkway and bike track, a bit distracting . Would love a soap rack in the shower if possible. Highlights were the fantails flapping about while we soaked in the bath, cheers for that! Cabin fits two snugly, really beautiful spot - we'll be back
Absolutely perfect!! So private and has everything a solo traveller needs. Close to town too. A perfect place to relax in after a day of hot pools and forest walks. Perfect solitude in a beautiful setting!!
