About this property

Riverwood Retreat: hot tub, outdoor sauna/shower on the Cheakamus River

Welcome! Peace and quiet envelope this riverside home. From your doorstep stroll lush forest trails, hike to alpine lakes, fish. Warm your soul and deeply relax in our new cedar sauna! Re energize with an outdoor shower or river plunge. Gather around a fire under the starry sky after a fulfilling day of fresh air. Lounge on one of our two decks either overlooking the river or by the comfort of your home. This is a special remote spot for adventuring, relaxing and connecting to nature.
The space
This new modern Mint tiny home is on a two acre property on the banks of the Chekamus River in Paradise Valley.

A private driveway amongst the trees opens up to a cheery bright dwelling that provides the comforts needed for indoor and outdoor living.

The interior has a clean and simplistic vibe with vaulted ceiling and accents of wood.
The kitchen has coffee, tea, oil and spices for cooking. Drink the water! The water is glacial fed well water.
The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner and body soap with plenty of space.
The queen bed is firm and if a less firm bed is desired than a topper can be added. Let me know!

Cook and dine inside or outside!
The outside has a new covered cedar deck. Its custom made couch and cushions are great for taking in the serenity of the forest views. The deck has an outside eating area as well as space for a morning yoga routine!
There is a fire pit for enjoyment outside at night, warm by the fire, under the dark and starry sky.

A path from this private spot meanders towards the river and the sauna.
The sauna is a brand new cube Nootka cedar sauna. It’s designed for pouring water over the hot rocks to make steam. Cool off with a cool shower or an even cooler river dip!

It’s a short distance from the sauna to the river deck and the river’s edge. A large cedar deck overlooks the stunning Chekamus River. It’s the perfect place to lay back on deck chairs and rest before another sauna round.

Dogs are welcome! I live on the property with my daughter and three dogs. I am happy to help you find your way around if you have questions or need anything.

I am passionate about sharing the magic of this special spot with you!
It truely is a paradise here tucked away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

The new sauna makes this spot a perfect year round destination.

Winter. Whistler is a 50 min drive to world class ski conditions. Locally the Squamish Sea to Sky Gondola provides access to cross country ski and snowshoe trails.

Summer is great for hiking, mountain biking, lake swimming, river kayaking and rock climbing. The Chekamus River is a great way to cool off.
Fall is fishing and mushroom season. Hiking is vibrant with colour and camp fire bans are lifted.
Spring is awe inspiring to witness in the valley as the earth comes back to life and the birds return. The diversity of plant and animal life is remarkable!

I love the area. It was in an area that seem like you were out in the wilderness and yet there are actually lots of people living in the area. From the road. You cannot see all the different residences there. When you go in, then you see the different people that live there. It was a safe and quiet area. The property itself was very nicely done up. The host was very friendly and helpful! We loved our time there! Will go back when we get the chance for sure.

First time I have ever cut a trip short. This place is advertised as a “Cabin in the Woods”. It is in fact a Trailer in the host’s backyard. Just make sure you know what you a getting. This is an incredibly tiny converted trailer, by no stretch of the imagination is it a cabin. To make matters worse, the host was unpleasant, and at times downright hostile. She should seriously reconsider if hospitality is right for her. You are located on her property, essentially in her yard, so there is no privacy and she’s makes that very clear from the moment you arrive. Place is advertised as dog friendly but the host has a problem with dogs, telling us that our dog makes her three yapping dogs uncomfortable. Upon letting her know that we are leaving early because we couldn’t stay another night with our infant in such a small place, her response was “Good. I’m glad you’re leaving”. I think she was offended we called her place a trailer but… it’s a home on wheels, it’s much closer to a trailer than a cabin. Charging $500 nightly for this stay is criminal. If you’re looking for a tiny home getaway, you can get much better value elsewhere. And hopefully better host.
