Looking for a unique, peaceful getaway with lake access and country charm? This cozy cabin offers just that—a relaxing escape tucked in the countryside, only 2 miles from the small, friendly town of Wadena.
Inside, a spiral staircase leads to a loft with a queen-sized bed. The spiral staircase is a fun touch, but something to be mindful of, as it may not be suitable for very young children or older guests. The main floor includes a small bedroom with bunk beds and a full size sleeper sofa in the living room, making it ideal for families or small groups.
Enjoy the convenience of a small kitchen equipped with a microwave, coffee maker, and glass stovetop and small dorm size fridge. The bathroom features tile flooring and a walk-in shower. Relax in the living room with a comfy couch, oversized chair, and a dining table for meals or games.
Step outside to soak up the serene setting—there’s a spacious wrap-around deck and a set of stairs with a landing that takes you right to the lake. Guests can use the kayaks, rowboat, or canoe provided (life jackets required and included!).
Please note:
The spiral staircase requires caution.
This is a self-check-in rental on a gravel road in a rural area—you may encounter local wildlife or the occasional bug.
Your stay is designed to be self-sufficient, and you may be without host assistance during your visit.
If you're looking for a fun, off-the-beaten-path experience with character and calm, this is your spot. Thanks for considering our little piece of country charm.
*** The cabin is located near a small campground where you might see a few campers, mostly on weekends. If you have friends with RVs or campers, feel free to invite them to join you!
Guests are welcome to enjoy the kayaks and rowboat provided, along with life jackets for safety. Please note: swimming in the lake is not allowed due to insurance restrictions. Fishing is catch-and-release only, and we ask that you use artificial bait to help protect the fish during release.
There’s a $25 pet fee per stay.
To make your stay more comfortable, don’t forget to bring any personal items you might want—like an extra blanket or your favorite pillow. I don’t provide heavy blankets by default since I can’t launder them between every guest, but I’m happy to offer them upon request.

This property was clean, reasonably-priced, and spacious. It was also remarkably peaceful. A good place to bring your family. Plenty of room to park your vehicles. The property owner was real easy to get along with and left clear instructions for those staying at the property.
Very quiet and relaxing. Truly a home away from home on the waters edge! Very few bugs and able to relax on the deck after dark or before the dun comes up if you are a

Nice meeting you, Thanks so much for Staying and the Great review. I hope you can return soon.
Beautiful cabin with lovely scenery and a nice quiet are. Plenty nearby to visit and do. The only slight negative is we didn’t bring a ton of blankets (so bring yours!!). Other than that, this is going to become a regular trip for us. Andy is awesome.
We enjoyed our stay! It was a quiet and peaceful few days. We enjoyed being able to use the kayaks and paddle boat to do some fishing. It was a great, relaxing time!
Had a great family trip to the cabin! Andy was a great host. Great location to visit the little towns and explore Backbone! Caught an almost 6# bass in the pond!
We brought the family here to give them a taste of the country. Andy is very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay!! Even the kids who were going through WiFi withdrawals, said they would have liked to have stayed longer. I would not recommend this property for small children, though.

I'm assuming they wouldn't recommend the property for small children because of the spiral staircase. And not the playground equipment or the sandpiles to play on or the nature trails or the fishing or the outdoors or the wildlife life or the sunshine and fresh air?😊
Nice cabin. The only negative is the proximity with the camping area.
No so quiet specially at night.

It is Very quiet and Peaceful there 98% of the time The campers are 200 plus yards away from this cabin and are mainly used on weekends. The noise was from the large group I had staying at the other cabin which also brought some campers out so there was a lot of activity those 2 nights with people driving and walking back-and-forth and your dog was barking at everyone who passed by which didnt help. But to say that it is not quiet at night is not accurate or consistent 98% of the time.

I'm sorry to read your review.
In the description I advertise those cabin specifically as having no TV or no Wi-Fi to just Unplug for a while. But I am considering making that change.
I suggest next time you rent the other cabin with the full size appliances and other amenities.
And If you all return for another visit I'll give you a discount. Thanks
To celebrate my husband's retirement, we sought a peaceful place with a pond to overlook. Because our stay was during week in September very few neighbors. This location was just what we desired. Loved listening to the nighttime owls, geese and coyotes as we enjoyed our fires at night. Enjoyed use of kayak and paddleboat. Because our stay was during week in September very few neighbors. Good comfy bed!

Thank you for your kind review and accentuating the positives. I'm sure there were a few minor issues that could have been improved and some guests concentrate on the negatives when giving a review, but not you.
I really appreciate you concentrating on the positive points of your stay and I hope you can return. Thank you!
It’s what we wanted, great fishing, peace and quiet. Only thing I would add is more shades to the front and back door. We had a neighbor park his camper across from us and we kept seeing him looking through the front door window. We locked eyes once . So more blinds for privacy.
We had a great time exploring this part of the state. You were supposed to call upon arrival but we had zero cell reception (Boost/Sprint) so we could not properly check in. We learned that Strawberry Point was the nearest place we had signal. That was the only hiccup. If you're looking for off grid peace and quiet this place is for you. We drove and hiked at the near by parks and did a little fishing in the lake. We would return

Thanks so much for staying and I hope you can return soon. I'm sorry about your cell service. I've had people get 4 bars there with Verizon and there is a US cell a half mile away but, Thanks again so much for this stay and supporting small business.
