About this property
Short or Long Term | Pet Friendly | Dog Park | King Bed | Newly Updated
Looking for a safe cozy place to stay with your furry friends? Well you're in luck because our basement suite has a dog park right across the street!
✨ With easy access to the Airport, Sunridge Mall, Peter Lougheed Hospital, Cross Iron Mills, Costco, Downtown, the Airplane Museum and the Calgary ZOO no matter where you need to go it won't be far.
🍽️ Hungry? There is an endless supply of amazing restaurants within walking distance and in the surrounding areas. This part of Calgary has a wide array of cuisine with some of the most amazing dishes in the most unexpected places. We highly recommend checking out the local restaurants and if you need a recommendation, let us know!
🛏️ The Bedroom comes with a King Sized Bed and has plenty of space to unpack, put your clothes in the provided dresser or hang things up in the closet. There is a Laundry Basket located in the bathroom and a reading light for guests to enjoy a nice book before bed.
🛋️ The Living Room has a wonderful Futon Couch, a Workstation for two and a nice little bar table to enjoy your meals on. The ROKU Smart TV will let you stream all of your favourite shows and movies using your own accounts so you can pick right up where you left off and different lighting options to help set the mood for movie night
🍳In the Kitchen you'll find an oven, fridge, microwave, Keurig, a filtered water station and everything you need to stay in comfort while you're here, so feel welcome to get your master chef on, just don't forget to use a cutting board!
🚽 The Bathroom is equipped with a full laundry centre, shower tub combo and toilet along with tonnes of space. We provide a starter kit of toilet paper and hand soaps but don't provide replenishments during your stay.
🧼 We also have a small closet under the stairs with a Vacuum, Mop, Broom and cleaning supplies. Guests are welcome and encouraged to use those supplies as much as they need to maintain a clean space for themselves
🗓️ Whether you're staying for a day, a week, a month, or a couple of months there is no shortage of amenities located nearby. Sunridge offers shopping malls, entertainment, and restaurants! Costco is just a few minutes away with a Walmart, Cineplex, Michaels, Starbucks, and PetsMart located in the same parking lot.
🚗 With Stoney Trail, Highway 1 and Mcknight Blvd close by guests can get anywhere in Calgary with ease! We highly recommend having a vehicle in Calgary as the transit system here is not the easiest to access outside of the downtown core.
🌲There is a gigantic fully fenced Off-Leash park located just steps away from the front door, with entrances located in either direction of the house. The neighbourhood is incredibly family friendly with a small park up the way and a few schools nearby.
🅿️ There is plenty of street parking available for free with no need to register your vehicle. We only ask that guests do not park in front of the homes, our neighbours have requested that they have some space for their own vehicles and we do our best to be respectful to our neighbours and neighbourhood
🐶🐱We are Pet Friendly! Bring your furry friend (or two!) and enjoy a nice relaxing atmosphere. We have two cats of our own who love to sleep the day away though they do get the zoomies once in awhile. You may occasionally see them in the front window watching the dogs across the street. or taking a nap in the sun. Dogs will love the fact that there are tonnes of friends to meet just right across the street at the fully fenced off leash park and plenty of walkable trails near by for those longer adventurers
❄️Calgary weather is extremely temperamental and can get as low as -40 degrees celsius. We encourage guests to bring fuzzy socks or slippers as well as a good winter coat with layers and boots from the months of October to May. There are blankets in the suite if the house furnace is not sufficient. We provide our guests with a shovel to ensure they are able to maintain a safe walkway and entrance for themselves.
❗️IMPORTANT INFORMATION❗️
The first thing we want guests to remember when booking this suite is that it is a portion of our own home and as your hosts we live upstairs. We do our absolute best to be courteous to our guests and respectful of their stays but we also have lives to live and all that comes with it.
This is a basement suite, Guests do not share any of the suite with us and will have private access to the suite for the entirety of their stay. Basement suites come with their own sets of challenges and we highly encourage guests to reach out and ask questions before they book if they are unsure. Guests should expect all normal conditions of a basement suite when staying with us and understand that this is also our home where we live our lives and all that life includes.
This is a 50 year old home that we have put our time and care into updating and restoring. While it certainly is not perfect we do our best to take good care of it and update or fix problems as soon as we are able to. We ask that guests let us know if there is any feedback we can take into consideration going forward as we want to be able to improve our guest experience as much as possible. We provide a limited amount of amenities as our guests have expressed that they prefer their own items and typically are staying with us for several weeks or even months. We do provide a small starter supply to get guests through until they're able to grab their own.
We are available to guests from 7am-10pm with any questions or concerns. We like to respect our guests privacy and unless you need us we will be out of your way. City of Calgary Quiet Hours are 10pm-7am and we do our best to limit noise from our suite during these times. If you see us on the property don't hesitate to say hello. We love to meet our guests but we also appreciate that our guests may not want to be social and we are happy to respect that choice
While we know your loved ones want to come visit, our insurance and rental license requires all guests to be registered in the booking and as such we cannot allow non registered visitors onto the property in order to follow the posted requirements. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation
There are security cameras located on the property and we want to assure all of our guests that we have much better things to do than sit and watch them all day. They exist solely as a Safety, Security and Liability protection for us and our guests and we respect both our guests right to privacy as well as everyone's right to comfort and safety in our home. All of the cameras are located on the exterior of the house and face away from the building.
Finally, we do our absolute best to be transparent, honest and over communicate to ensure that our guests know exactly what to expect with their stay. We can only provide this information and it is up to our guests to understand our rules, rental agreement and policies as well as VRBO's terms and conditions agreed to upon booking and we cannot help those guests who choose not to.

It was an absolutely pleasure staying at this property! The owner was so lovely and extremely helpful with everything we needed. The unit was clean, in excellent condition and felt super homey. We would highly recommend staying here.
Jordan was a great host. He sent us any expectations and instructions for check in far in advance, and the place had lots of cozy amenities. It was a great home away from home, and we were easily able to use the space as a home base for a week.

Thank you for such a kind review! You guys were amazing guests and are welcome back any time!
I had to stay here for a week while we had family visiting at home and this was the perfect place for what I needed. Jordan has put a lot of love into making this space feel comfortable and you can see how much he cares about his guests. The check in process was quick and easy, he was available to answer questions and the suite had everything I needed. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy stay in Calgary.

Thank you for such a glowing and wonderful review Hassan! You were an absolute pleasure to have as a guest and we hope you come stay with us anytime you are in Calgary!
This place was so perfect for me. I personally stayed for a Week for a certification course I was taking. Walking to the the bus and taking the train was very excessable from this location. The host was very nice, and really gave me my privacy. The place was clean and charming. I definitely have no bad words to say, this place really felt like a home away from home. I will be back next time I come to Calgary, and yes I would recommend it to a friend
Very safe residential neighborhood. Well situated amenities in unit, easy access to major roads, with grocery and other amenities a quick drive away. Spacious and private apartment. Easy entry but does require taking a side path with uneven paving stones and stairs down to the entrance (just a heads up for anyone with mobility concerns). Only quibble was the cold water knob was very difficult to adjust especially when wet, so my showers were sometimes extra hot. (Owner says he will get it fixed soon) Very comfy and large bed, well set up kitchen. All in all it was a great temporary home base for me to explore the rest of Alberta! Thx!

Thank you for a wonderful and transparent review Kevin, you were an absolute pleasure to host
We have already repaired the shower handle as of this response, it unfortunately broke just before Kevin’s stay and I was unable to get the parts before he was due to check in.
I also appreciate that Kevin mentions the mobility as our suite is not always going to be the best fit for every guest and there are always going to be new challenges that arise as we get fresh perspectives from new guest.
Thank you for a very thorough and transparent review, please do feel welcome back any time!

Liked: Check-in, listing accuracy
Disliked: Communication
Decent place, quiet area
The check in process was straight forwardThe place seemed clean, until you start actually looking. Swept up a big dog worth of dog fur, a fair amount of dust on top of the hand sanitizer, on top of the fridge, dust on top of the back part of stove, inside of range hood was gross, dust and crumbs where the plates and cups are in the cupboard, the coffee machine is stained with old coffee. The quiet time was between 10pm and 7am, I understand that there is noise transfer, but don’t come here if you have children if they need to go to be in bed early, as these people don’t walk quietly, it honestly sounded like they stomped around until, 10:30 - 11, and then up and walking stomping between the hours of 5 - 6 am. Honestly 2 out 10 experience.

We’d like to add some context to this review as it is necessary for future guests consideration:
First, Thea did not stay with us herself and booked the suite on behalf of her husband and her best friend. She is only relaying information from them and this is not a first hand account. Take the information provided in this review with that in mind.
Secondly, we take the cleanliness of our suite incredibly seriously and if our cleaner did not do a good job we were not made aware. We would have been more than happy to resolve any cleaning issues but when guests do not communicate concerns or issues it makes it impossible for us to correct issues.
We have hosted for over 4 years now on other platforms and while we know our suite is not perfect we do our best to maintain and take care of it between guests.
We do our absolute best to be incredibly clear in our listing about what guests can expect when staying with us. This is a basement suite in a home where the hosts live upstairs, we make it clear in our IMPORTANT INFORMATION section that there is an expectation of noise during the day since our personal lives do not end when we have guests as we host guests often for several weeks to several months at a time.
We provide an incredibly clear and transparent listing with an incredible amount of information to make sure guests understand the suite and what they can expect. This information is completely ineffective when the people who are staying with us do not read the listing until before they arrive as is clear here since this review mentions our listing not being suitable for children and that is also something that is marked clearly on the listing page and we are curious as to why they added that since they did not have any children with them.
We cannot provide a good experience to guests who do not read any of the information provided in our listing, our Rental Agreement or even just in the messages we send.
We hope that any future guests feel welcome to reach out to us with questions before they book to ensure our suite is suitable for them and their needs as clearly that would have prevented this review and possibly allowed us to host someone who had actually read the listing.
