The house was great for my 5 kids! It was helpful to have the instructions about local sights and the tide etc. Gouchers farmers market was fantastic for food and only 10 mins away. We fished off the dock, went to Port George (10 mins away) to see seals! The kids loved the ping pong and vhs movies, very retro. It was a great vacation we will treasure for years!

We absolutely loved this beautiful, old, rustic house. It was cozy, comfortable and charming. Kid friendly, with board games, a ping-pong table, and a big yard with a tree-swing. A great place to unplug and detach. Sara was a great host and very responsive. We would happily stay there again.

Amazing place

We loved the kid friendliness of the place and Margarestville is a special place. So peaceful. The house is exactly as described with lots of places to explore. Everything is well maintained and the character of the old house is so charming. We fell in love with this house, my kids didn't want to leave!

We had a lovely time at this old Captain's house. It felt like staying at a grandparents' sea cottage. The location is excellent (right by the water, amazing sunsets) though not super walkable. It was a great base to explore the bay area, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the kids loved exploring all the nooks and crannies of the house. We weren't looking for somewhere posh and we had a fab time, but if you want a modern, hotel-like stay, this isn't the place. It's a place with history and character. It did smell very musty (it is old after all!), a lot of the paint/wallpaper is peeling, and the shower wasn't great (as tall women, we had to hang a towel across the window for privacy). That said, we felt it was good value for the price, we loved our time there, and it was so peaceful and relaxing, which is exactly what we needed. Thank you, Sara!
