About this property

Beach Cottage for 4 people

We rent the blue cottage for up to 4 guests. Due to proximity to the ocean the well is salt water. We provide as much drinking water as you need. The blue cottage has a kitchenette with microwave, George Foreman grill and hot plate. This is a very private location with lots of parking.
The cottage is unique, because it is right on the beach and the harbour! You have the highest tide in the world right in front of your window. The harbour is also one of the few active fishing harbours in Nova Scotia, catching lobster from May 15 - July 31. You can buy lobster fresh from the tank right from the fishmarket . We provide wood for the fireplace in the blue cottage. Please burn beach wood on the beach for bond fires. There is wifi and tv, as well as a bassinet for an infant.
There are two bedrooms upstairs (about 10 stairs). Kitchen, bathroom, dining and living room are downstairs. There is also a sunroom with access to the fenced in large deck, with sun umbrella and lounges.

Beautiful Property

Very beautiful property and the location is perfect. We had a great time and everything was the way it was presented online. The owner was easy to communicate with. And you aren’t too close to the neighbors so you have some privacy I would 100% recommend this spot

This place was so rustic and the view was absolutely beautiful. I had an absolutely amazing stay here and would book it again in a heartbeat. The host was really easy to chat with and the beach we were on was so peaceful.It is a very rocky beach so proper footwear is a must however, it was so peaceful. Although I didn’t get a chance to stop in as we were there for a wedding, there is a fish market across the water where the boat dock, as it is a little fishing harbor. Boats come in and out often and drop off their load and go back out again in the morning. Lastly, the property was very clean with lots of firewood to burn in the cooler months.We were very comfortable there.Thank you so much! We hope to see you again soon.

Unique and beautiful

This was a lovely, rustic large home that accommodated our crew well. The location can't be beat. It was very neat to watch and experience the big tides and explore the beach.

We stayed in the blue house. The location was amazing! The hoouse was clean, decorated nicely, and overall very comfortable. Fortunately we didn't have to cook because there is only a hot plate and microwave. The real kitchen must be in the yellow house. This is a little disceptive in the description. The big surprize was the salt water in the taps. All the dishes tasted of salt water. For those who took a shower their skin stung from the salt water. I looked at the Vrbo review of the house and it never indicated that we would only have salt water in the kitchen and the bathroom. This feels a little disceptive and not honest. If it were not for the salt water I would highly recommend this place because it was a beautiful setting and the house was charming.

Quirky cottage

and everyone had a great sleep. Was not aware of a propane stove so asked ladies at the restaurant for help ( great bunch of people at the convenient store) Found 10 was too early check out especially when you are enjoying your coffee and company. I will recommend this spot to friends and family.

Musty and damp smell. Many moths and other insects. Quite dirty, e.g. spider webs, hair, dirt, old contact lenses on bed. Furniture not like pictures and many items in a state of disrepair. In need of TLC. Location is great for water and rocky beach. Harbourville Trading Company nearby is great and little store is very clean and folks are friendly!

From my search criteria I understood I was booking a 4 bedrooms 2.5 bathrooms property with a cooking range/oven. The directions provided were to a purple house under renovations across the harbour. The staff in the local market were very helpful and assisted us in locating the property as cellular service in area is very poor and we were unable to communicate with the property manager…who turns out to be a different person to the name on the VRBO listing. Also she was not available except by VRBO messaging once we were on wifi. The accommodation we were provided is a 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom induction cook plate quaint house. Accurate on all reviews on VRBO re uniqueness, quaintness etc. however this is not a property for any guests with some mobility issues and beware the staircase is very dangerous so be careful at night if you need to go to the bathroom. Cooking in the kitchen please take care the induction plate, Microwave and coffee pot are barely balancing on a very unstable table. The property manager was very unhelpful and not willing to provide any explanation re the missing bedrooms and bathrooms - case of tough that is all there is take it or leave it. Any other time or if it was just my husband and I travelling together we may have been able to look past all this misrepresentation and enjoyed the uniqueness of the property however for our travel party’s needs this was not what we paid for or needed.

Quiet cottage on the breakwater.

Nice older cottage right on the water. Beautiful rocky beach only feet away. The high cliffs and caves were awesome. The salt water in the taps and shower take some getting used too. Bring provisions as the restaurant isn't open. But the cottage is comfortable with good Wi-Fi

We had a great time!

The house is right at the waters edge at high tide. There are a wonderful bench and chairs from which to watch the tides. The little harbor is quaint. Watching the fishermen unload a days catch of scallops was remarkable. The neighbors were wonderful. It is ~ a two hour drive to Halifax/Lunenburg/and Digby, and there are lots of other places within a 2 hour radius. Unfortunately Cape Breton is too far to visit in a day. The restaurant in town was not open during our visit, but there is a great lobster and seafood restaurant 30 min away in Halls Harbor. The owner was available and responsive (we had a problem with the tv, and we ran out of fresh water, both problems were remedied immediately) You won't be staying in a Holiday Inn. The house is old and "romantically worn". The floors slope and creak, paint around the trim and windows is chipped (not surprising since its so exposed to the ocean), but everything works, and is clean and comfortable. The most difficult thing was using only salt water to wash and cook with. At the owners suggestion we learned to rinse off after a shower. If there were one thing that I would change it would be to convert to fresh water in the taps.

Pretty cottage right on the ocean's edge.

This striking blue cottage is at the edge of the Bay of Fundy. The sunsets on the breakwater are beautiful. The cottage is an older one, some sloping floors but comfy and quaint for a romantic weekend or week. The cottage is clean and has everything you need. What might be something to get used to is having salt water in the taps. A clean water dispenser is provided. The incredible crags and cliffs and caves along the beach are truly spectacular. The cottage is quiet and watching how quickly the tides change from the deck is awesome.
