Recently updated clean & no frills 1st floor unit in a 3 floor brick building walkable to all in-town Portland hot spots including Congress St (5 min), the Arts District (5 min) & the Old Port/Commercial (15 min). On street parking & easy access to public transportation this unit is situated in an exciting, but real-time gentrifying part of town...at times there can be transient/homeless roaming the streets, but a strong police presence & new restaurants on the same block make it quite safe.

Great, comfortable place to stay. The location is super walkable. There are several bars/restaurants very close, and other areas are close enlighten to walk to as well (I.e. Congress Street). Commercial is a bit of a walk, but if you’re like us and love to walk a new area. It’s not that far. The bed is comfortable and the place was very clean. Communication was great. We would stay here again!

Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
ehh…
Before check in the host was kind and incredibly communicative. Upon check out they asked how our stay was and I wrote them a message saying I’d rather discuss this before leaving a bad review but they left me on read… When we arrived there were so many unhoused folx outside the apt we didn’t feel safe entering. we literally saw a woman being chased/harassed while we were pulling up. If I wasn’t with my partner I would’ve had to cancel due to feeling unsafe. I have no bad feelings about unhoused people (I have lots of empathy /compassion). We looked at the other listing in the same building saying “think nyc in the 80s” and if ours said that we probably wouldn’t have booked. Other things to note - the ac didn’t work. I wish I could share the video. It sounded like a broken airplane. It was literally too loud to have on but the other windows being open didn’t make us feel safe. They also didn’t lock and the one that’s filled to the gills with trash & sheetrock debris was out of the tracks and couldn’t be opened for the sake of sheet rock dust/filth.All in all not a great experience. Just being fully transparent.
