LOCATION:
Quillan is in the foothills of the Pyrenees approximately 45 min from Carcassonne, Airport, 1 hour from Perpignan Airport, 1 hour 45min from Toulouse Airport.
1 hour 15min from Mediterranean beach of Canet Plage and other costal resorts.
Set in the old town this rustic bright & sunny Apartment is minutes from the Tourist Office, Bus Station, food shopping, Bars, Cafes and other shops.The local Castle and the River Aude are just a few minutes walk away.
Other things to note.
We can be flexible in terms of access and departure times pending other guest departures and arrivals. A key box is in use for access & departure.
THE SPACE:
The Apartment is over two floor (1st & second floors) with wood burning fireplace (wood supplied). The Roof Terrace with Table & chairs for alfresco dining is at Attic level. Sunbeds & parasols also available. Access to Roof Terrace is via stairs with restricted access only to Attic space to retrieve and store Terrace furniture.
ACCOMODATION:
There are two Kitchens, one on each floor. There are four Bedrooms, a double which is off the Living Room floor along with the Shower Room. All other Bedroom are on the floor above with a full Bathroom.
ACTIVITIES:
Ideal for Cycling, Hiking,Rafting, Canoeing, Climbing, Wine Tasting, Markets. The Town pool is minutes away & it's approximately 5 minute drive to town sanded swimming lake with seasonal Lifeguard changing rooms, BBQ area, Children's play area, Bike track, shop & seasonal restaurant. Its a great location to relax & take in the breathtaking scenery of the area. A fishing lake (Permits required) is attached. A large super market is opposite the car park.
During the Summer season there is lots to do. The town is a great place from which to explore the wealth of Cathar history with numerous Cathar Castles ruins to visit. A tourist Train also runs excursions to the coast. Lots of Festivals also occur during the season with local cuisine, live music, & amusements.
The river Aude runs through the town where Rafting, canoeing tours are available.
Through out the year Hiking and Mountain climbing are readily accessible and Cycling is very popular in the area especially as it's been on the Tour de France route on numerous occasions.
Evening relaxation on the Terrace with a glass of local Wine is to be recommended, watching the birds feed or a beautiful evening Sun setting over the hills.
