Hidden amongst the hinterland hills of Wainui Beach, your luxury ‘camping’ accommodation with a difference awaits.

Hinterland Retreat, the perfect balance of rustic camping experiences and luxury. Our space allows you to enjoy the memorable aspects of camping while appreciating the finer comforts of private accommodation.

Conveniently Located 5 minutes from Wainui Beach, 10 min to Makorori Beach, 10 min to Gisborne CBD.

Your glamping cabin and idyllic setting have the ability to leave you feeling refreshed and connected to nature.

The space includes a large king bed, fully equipped camp kitchen, outdoor bbq & fire pit, outdoor bath & shower, outdoor & indoor heaters, luxurious linens, wifi, continental breakfast (tea, coffee, granola, dairy free milk).

Please note:
- you must be physically able to stay at Hinterland Retreat. With car parking available roadside at our family home, guests walk 1 minute downhill on gravel to the cabin. Once at the cabin guest enjoy ultimate privacy.
- the cabin and its outdoor kitchen & living spaces are covered (see photos) and somewhat protected from the elements. However, like camping, weather can be unpredictable and guests will be more exposed than in traditional accommodations. If extreme weather is forecast we are more than happy to discuss rebooking guests.
- the walk to the cabin and the space itself is not suited for large suitcases. Please keep that in mind when booking. A light weekend bag and zest for glamping is all that’s needed.
