Guest Access:

Guests have exclusive use of the entire property during their stay, including all living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, entertaining spaces, deck and private downstairs retreat.

The Neighborhood:

The Lookout is located on Hobart’s sunny Eastern Shore in the peaceful waterfront suburb of Bellerive, giving you the best of both worlds—beaches, walking tracks and local attractions close to home, with Hobart’s CBD and waterfront just a short trip across the Derwent River.

For groceries and local produce, Salamanca Fresh on Clarence Street is nearby, while Eastlands Shopping Centre is just a few minutes away with supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants and everyday essentials.

There’s plenty to discover close to home. Spend the morning at beautiful Bellerive Beach, stroll along the waterfront and Bellerive Boardwalk, explore historic Bellerive Village, or visit Kangaroo Bluff Battery for fantastic views across the Derwent River towards Hobart and kunanyi / Mount Wellington. Blundstone Arena is also nearby, making The Lookout a convenient choice for guests attending cricket, AFL and other major events.

Bellerive Pier provides a scenic ferry connection across the Derwent to central Hobart—an enjoyable alternative to driving and a great way to experience the city from the water.

Across the river, many of Hobart’s best-known attractions are within easy reach:

Salamanca Place and the famous Saturday Salamanca Market

Historic Battery Point and its charming streets and heritage cottages

Hobart Waterfront, Constitution Dock and Brooke Street Pier

Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

MONA – Museum of Old and New Art

kunanyi / Mount Wellington for spectacular views, walks and nature

Cascade Brewery and the Cascades Female Factory Historic Site

The Lookout is also well positioned for day trips beyond Hobart. Discover the historic village of Richmond and the Coal River Valley wineries, visit Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, explore the Huon Valley, or plan a full-day adventure to Bruny Island or the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur.

Whether you’re heading into Hobart for dinner, spending the day sightseeing or simply enjoying Bellerive’s beaches and waterfront, The Lookout provides a convenient base for exploring Hobart and southern Tasmania.

Getting Around:

We recommend hiring a car to make the most of everything Hobart and Southern Tasmania have to offer. However, getting around without a car is also easy, with regular public buses running along nearby Clarence Street and the Bellerive ferry providing a scenic and convenient connection across the Derwent River to central Hobart. Taxis and rideshare services are also readily available.

Other Things to Note:

To help provide a safe and secure stay for both guests and hosts, we partner with Truvi, an independent guest verification and damage protection provider.

After booking, you will receive an email from Truvi asking you to complete a simple guest verification process before check-in.

As part of this process, a $35 AUD damage waiver is required. This provides cover for up to $500 AUD of accidental damage during your stay.

Please ensure your Truvi verification and damage waiver are completed before your check-in date. The process is quick and straightforward, and the Truvi support team is available should you require any assistance.

Thank you for helping us provide a safe, secure and enjoyable stay for everyone.

Interaction with Guests:

We’re local and close by should you need any assistance during your stay. Otherwise, we respect your privacy and leave you to relax and enjoy The Lookout at your own pace.
