Amberley is a fantastic property for a big family. Five of us brothers had a week stay and loved every minute. Spacious house with plenty of room, beautifully furnished and a fantastic location within walking distance to cafes, restaurants and shops.

Our stay at Amberley was fantastic. The house is a gorgeous historical home in Sandy Bay, close to restaurants and shops and easily accessible by foot or car to many of Hobart’s great attractions. The house is very inviting and the beds comfortable, as well as having a very spacious, well equipped kitchen. Fireplaces and heaters kept us cozy and there’s plenty of room to relax together, or escape to, for some quite time. Lisa communicated promptly and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend a stay at Amberley for a group or family when visiting Hobart.

Beautiful, spacious, gorgeous house. Beds super comfortable, kitchen well equipped with everything you would need. Lots of shops/cafes nearby. Perfect house for a group or family. Very comfortable lounge areas with warm heaters for keeping cosy. Host very friendly and helpful.

Met every need we had both within the beautifully appointed house and location.Amberley was a delight to stay in and has been renovated to a very high standard. We walked to restaurants, shops and into Salamanca.Hope to stay there again and highly recommend.

Perfect location, short stroll to ColesWorth and local restaurants, cafes, patisserie, and Scoop. 10 minutes to the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, great for a lunch on the deck30 minute stroll to Salamanca and its markets (Saturday).House was clean and well setup with a well resourced kitchen, and plenty of heating!5 bedrooms and 2 and a half bathrooms all worked really well.

We stayed at Amberley for our annual girls trip and had a wonderful time. The house is really large so lots of space for everyone. It’s in a great location so you can walk everywhere. It was very clean and the host was very helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

My stay in Amberley house with four of my dear friends was amazing. The house was very comfortable and super clean. Every room was well appointed nothing was amiss. The host Lisa was great, I had questions to ask and she answered promptly. The welcome folder with suggestions of sites to see and restaurants to visit was invaluable.The suburb was close to Salamanca, bars and restaurants. We either walked or caught free public transport on buses.I would recommend this house.

Superb location for exploring Hobart. 15 minute walk to Franklin Wharf and same to CBD. Sandy Bay Area is a lovely suburb with lots of houses of architectural interest. Worth a walk around Amberley house was lovely , spacious , full of character and spotlessly clean. Lisa (host) was a delight to deal with and extremely helpful in meeting our extra needs (cot and late check out ). Thanks

I am an enthusiastic host who has lived in Hobart all my life. I have very strong connections developed over thirty years with the Tasmanian wine, food and tourist scene.

I love travelling, gardening and keeping fit.

Adventures have included Annapurna Base Camp, trekking in the north of Vietnam, walking in Southern Italy, safari in Botswana and volunteering with my daughter in Cambodia. Other more relaxing excursions have been touring Northern India, time in Southern France. In Covid times I have taken the opportunity to re-visit many favourite spots around Tasmanian and some new locations e.g. Flinders Island.

I love returning to our city Hobart of only 200,000 people but has everything that larger cities have under the magnificent shadow of Mount Wellington and set on the picturesque Derwent River.

I cannot live without my family, dachshund puppy (Lily), and to relax most evenings with a great meal and a glass of Tasmanian Pinot.
