Printers Row is “pocket” neighborhood just minutes from the Chicago Loop. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the area became the Midwest hub of the printing industry with historically significant buildings designed by legendary architects like Daniel Burnham, William Holabird and William Le Baron Jenney. Today, many of those historic buildings remain but the quiet, tree lined streets are now largely residential. Of course, it continues to be a draw for fans of Chicago architecture.
During the day, the neighborhood is an easy walk to offices in the Loop, off Michigan Avenue, or in LaSalle Street financial centers. After hours, the district is alive with restaurants, boutiques, book and antique stores.
It boasts famous blues clubs, eclectic music venues and neighborhood taverns where residents gather. It also has an annual book fair: The Printers Row Book Fair gathers authors, poets, speakers and, of course, books.
Printer`s Row is also walking distance to Chicago`s Museum Campus, with the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium, and the newly redesigned Soldier Field.
With a 97 walk score and 100 transit score, you can get everywhere your heart desires in Chicago. The Red Line subway is one of the main subways in Chicago, and is only a block away. Many restaurants, shopping, parks, and museums are within walking distance.

This Vrbo was located pretty much in the center of everything and felt very safe. Moms were outside watching their kids in ballet long after dark just a few doors down the street. Everything was clean and the owners were very responsive and friendly.
We booked this location primarily based on proximity to the concert location. I am very glad we did. This was a perfect place for our purposes. We liked the property. Comfortable, clean and well decorated. The hosts were fantastic. We would definitely rent this property again.
Great location in a safe neighborhood! We had a lovely stay, we only faced problems with the AC because the unit was locked and the temperature was rather low for our kids (68-69 F). The manager was responsive up to a point, but the issue was not solved. If you don’t mind having the ability to adjust the room temperature, this is a great place. It was clean and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. Overall, it was a nice stay.

Nice spot, needs improvement
Overall good place in a nice location close to restaurants, markets, and subway. Easy check-in. However, ran into a big ant issue in the kitchen for a couple days and a big water leak in the bathroom, which got everything wet and forced us to clear items out of the room for the rest of stay. Host got maintenance to come in and slow it down but it was uncomfortable to be in the bathroom for long.
I like this place for the convenience and quiet in the building itself (you do hear sirens at all hours but that is in all parts of downtown). This place would be great for a first timer to Chicago with kids in tow. Easy walks to almost all of the great museums.
There are plenty of grocery and dining options nearby. I think that any of you that want a hearty breakfast to start the day should go to "Honey Berry Pancakes and Cafe" Lots of variety there. "Grant Park Bistro" looked cool but we never had time to go there. Also, try "Etta" way over in Wicker Park. Visited that place while on the "Pizza City" pizza tour. Also tried "The Gage" one night on Michigan Avenue and it was great.
The VRBO property is roomy and my son did enjoy using the gym. There is an old school drip coffee pot there for which I was very thankful.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Average location, poor host communication
The condo was NOT as advertised. It was clean but had NO air conditioning. The host told us but when we arrived and I messaged them how miserable it was the stopped responding. Called VRBO who also tried to reach host but they weren’t answering them either. VRBO did bend over backwards to help us and we ended up leaving and going to hotel. The check-in process was easy and the hosts were super responsive until the A/C issue which was disappointing based on the reviews. Every view out the window was of an ugly roof also but meh.
The condo is large and as pictured. The location is great and public transportation is nearby. However, some inaccuracies in the list were disappointing. The master bed is not a queen as listed but rather a double, just as the bunk beds. Additionally, the listing indicates that you can leave luggage in the unit after 1pm but not check-in until 4p, but when we arrived to leave our luggage at 130p we were told we could not gain access to the unit until 330p. Since the listing indicates up to 7 people I would suggest a dining table to seat more than 4 people.
Had a great experience staying here. Location was great, safe, and clean. Plenty of space for me and my 2 college friends to hang out and relax after seeing the city. Highly recommend!
Cute place with lots of storage. Super comfy beds. Easy walk to public transportation and Grant Park, etc. Could use a few more kitchen items like a corkscrew and more coffee cups. That was the only thing we were missing.
It is in a safe neighborhood and we felt VERY safe in the building! There is parking right next door, owners were easy to communicate with and the beds were comfy. We were very pleased with this property and would recommend stat here.
The place was in a perfect location and the amenities were what was described/expected. Communication with owners was clear and fast. Easy to find and found in/out parking very close to the location. Plenty of good food/grocery options close to unit. The unit was plenty big for the 7 of us and while a little inconvenient we made the 1 bathroom work. We enjoyed our stay.
Nice property. The water was like warm and there was no balcony as advertised. It was a very convenient location. Property owners were very quick to respond to questions
I had been a little hesitant about this property since it only has one bathroom and we were traveling with 4 adults. But it ended up not being an issue. The apartment has a kitchen and some strategically placed mirrors, so others could still get ready while someone was in the shower. There were also plenty of sleep options. I would definitely stay here again.
walking distance to everything. Only problems were because I didn't read all of the details that were sent to me about accessing the 'latch system' code.
I would stay again
This was the perfect apartment for our family trip to Chicago! Our main attraction was the Shedd, so this location was perfect (about a ten minute walk door to door.) We were also able to walk to tons of great restaurants and a few grocery stores. The bedrooms were large and the apartment was clean and had everything we needed. We would highly recommend!
